If you have been following my blog you will know that I have been experiencing alot of pain in my back and knee. I have been seeing an accupuncturist and a chiropractor. I dont mention the chiro much because I have been mainly seeing the acupuncturist. Those bills are adding up. The chiro is 20 bucks each visit which is cool but now my son is going 3 times a week. The acupuncturist is 100 bucks per week (2 visits per week).
I went to see a specialist because it does not seem like the numbness in my shin is going away. This specialist is so busy that you have to wait 2 - 3 weeks just to get an appointment. I got really lucky and got to see him within 24 hours.
I did not get far in the examination because I was in so much pain. The doctor began to bend my knee and I felt this sharp pain. .
I screamed, "ouch! stop stop stop!" I hit him everytime I said stop. Yes, that means I hit him 3 times. I was in so much pain. I had my eyes closed and tears were coming down.
He ordered xrays right away and then asked the nurse to set up an MRI appointment for me. Everything seems to be moving along fast. This is good because I have had this pain for about 6 months. I cant wait to find out what is wrong so that they can fix it. The doctors says that I have a pinched nerve but he thinks something else is going on too.
I got me some drugs finally! I got Vicadin extra strength and some muscle relaxers. They warned me not to have any alcohol while taking the medication. Uh, duh! ha ha.
I really hope the specialist can get to the root of the problem and take care of it. Honestly, this is my last hope.

I live in an apartment building that has an alley which separates us from another apartment building. Both buildings are separate and owned by two different owners. Every night for the past 4 nights someone has been blastin their radio and playing loud cumbia music. It is always from 11pm - beyond midnight. If I didnt have my muscle relaxers to make me drowsey that music would really be bothering me. I dont know why the people in THAT building dont complain to the apt manager to have them turn that shit off! It is really loud!
Tonight my older son came into my room and stood in my doorway. I was like, "what?" He said I was just wondering if you could hear the music. I was like, "yeah. It is loud enough". So I finally call the police. I just so happen to have the local police number in my cell phone. Ha ha. So I give the guy my name and he says, "Are you hawaiian?" I was like yeah. I never got his name but I gave him two names of people at his department and he knew both of them! So instead of just one police car showing up, there were two. ha ha.
The music is finally off and now it is quiet. I mean it is common sense. It is after 11pm why cant they just figure it out on their own. No consideration!

A TRUE STORY...
She had a rough childhood
She survived starvation, neglect and lack of affection.
These things made her resilient to rejection.
Her fears became her strengths.
As she aged, lonliness set in. However she was never fearful of it.
Living each day as if it were her last, never fearing death.
Times passes on and she is feeling abandonned once again.
Told by someone who is suppose to love her, "No knight in shinning armor is going to come and save you!"
She waited and waited until she believed the previous statement to be true.
Then like a character in a story she sees him. He is strong, brave, kind and caring.
Could he be the knight she was searching for?
He falls for her, as they do in fairy tales...
As years pass by... I finally get to tell him,
"I thought I was going to die, never finding you."

I went to the orthepedic surgeon today. He took a look at my x-rays and it was not good news. I have a large pertruding disc in my lower back that is pressing on the nerves. Normal to average disc problems are a slipped disc, herinated disc or ruptured disc. My problem is a large disc that is protruding into the nerve.
So what is the end result? SURGERY.
I called a family meeting tonight. Being a single mother I need to talk to my children about taking care of the home while I am in the hospital. My oldest son needs to be in charge and everyone has to do their part. I am really sad right now because I think I am more affraid than anything. I have NEVER had surgery before so I dont know what to expect. I am young and I am sure that I will make it through the procedure. I just worry about my children and my home while I am gone.

First of all, thank you to everyone for your kind words on my last blog. I greatly appreciate it.
I saw the back surgeon today. He is the one that is going to perform the surgery. I was a little nervous but he was very nice. He gave me three options... 1. Live with the pain for the rest of my life. 2. get a shot in my back then when it wears off either get another shot or live with the pain. and 3. surgery.
Well with these options which would you pick. The surgery is only going to take one and a half hours and I will get to come home. I was like what did you say? I am going to be an out patient? In a way that is good. I just go in, he makes a little incision in my back and pulls that piece out. He said I should start feeling 100% better within 24 hours. That is amazing!
Surgery is scheduled for next week monday. Somehow I am feeling guilty about not being at work. Why do I feel this way? I should not feel responsible for my job right now and I should be concerned about my health. What is wrong with me?

Today is friday and my daughter stayed home from school to spend time with me and help me. It meant a lot to me because after the surgery I will not be able to walk around or move. They said I will need assistance during the first 24 hours after surgery. That is a pretty long time.
The marvelous part about post surgery is keeping the sutures dry! How will I shower when my lower back is the part that gets wet ALL the time. The technician said, "oh there is this band aid thing that the doctor can put on to help keep them dry but you just cant go into the pool or anything... but I don't think he is going to use that procedure on you." Me
- "What!? Why not?"Him
- "Because they may not have the materials at that facility that he needs." Me
I also got to laugh and sit through "BLADES OF STEEL". It was entertaining. I laughed. I had fun. It was good to be laughing with my daughter. It was such a marvelous day.....

What the heck am I taking
Saturday. 3.31.07 3:17 am
Ok I trust the doctor like most patients and I just go to the pharmacy to fill the prescription. Just the other day I noticed that I get really loopy or silly when I take them and I am awake. So, I took the meds the night before and went to bed. (as prescribed). Then I dropped my son off at school and noticed that I had no more gas. I went to the gas station and was concerned about the pain in my back and leg... sat down, started the car and procedeed to drive home.
I heard this loud sound and discovered that I forgot to put the pump back. The hose ripped out of the pump thing and was laying on the ground.
I told the attendant "hello.... the thing is on the ground. Uh, excuse me. The thing
came out and it is on the ground... just put it back in. " I proceeded to put it back
and the guy said, "no you cant. It is broken. You need to fill out a report and pay
$100 minimum. I told him, What? Just put it back. you see that hole right there
just put it back in. That doesnt cost a hundred dollars. I cant reach it but you can.
He said no you broke it. The paper work said to provided my car insurance info. For
what? I didnt hit anyone..so i proceeded to give my insurance info and so I gave
him my expired car info. I didnt think it mattered because you know, for what?
I just looked up the info on the net and found out this about the muscle relaxer...
What is Soma?
Soma is a muscle relaxer that works by blocking pain sensations between the nerves and the brain.
Soma is used together with rest and physical therapy to treat injuries and other painful musculoskeletal conditions.
OK, I UNDERSTAND, THAT BLOCKING SENSATION MADE ME FORGET TO TAKE THE THING OUT OF THE GAS TANK.
You may have withdrawal symptoms
when you stop using Soma after using it over a long period of time. Do not stop using this medication suddenly without first talking to your doctor. You may need to use less and less before you stop the medication completely. Soma can cause side effects that may impair your thinking or reactions
WHAT?? WITHDRAWAL SYMPTOMS!!! I AM A DRUGGIE!! LORD HELP ME! SIDE EFFECTS MAY IMPAIR MY THINKING OR REACTION? NO NOT MAY HONEY! DOES IS THE WORD.
