The Iroha Project http://www.irohaproject.co.cc
is an image-audio dictionary arranged in categories in order to facilitate foriegn language learning. The Project now contains three languages: Cantonese, Japanese and English. Images are embedded with sound in a Macromedia Flash document so all you do is click on an image and listen to the word.
You can either browse words by selecting a language and then a category or you can search a word in either Japanese or English. The site uses unicode as a standard. Currently most common fruits will be listed as well as vegetables, colors and the numbers in Cantonese only.
The main site is still www.IrohaProject.org but has not been updated in over a year nor has it been linked in with this BETA site.
The Iroha Project is an Open Source Project using Open Source code from www.SourceForge.net. The Iroha Project is extremely greatful to the programmers around the world whom have created Gallery 2.
Anyone wishing to add MP3 files may do so by logging in and creating an account. Sometimes words may have different meanings for different people and countries you may add other meanings by logging in and adding the word(s) in the "comments" area. All comments and MP3s will be screened and edited by The Iroha Project Administrator. For those of you who would like to contribute MP3s please support SourceForge.net by using the FREE Audacity recording software: http://audacity.sourceforge.net please convert to LAME MP3 encoding.
(www.IrohaProject.co.cc) is in BETA, please do NOT email me about what should and should not be listed - you can contribute to the Project in a more positive way by recording your voice and/or adding word(s) to the comments area. I will not answer if you just want to tell me what to do. I need to know details of a more technical nature. This site uses intelligent software similar to Google to distiguish what browser language you are using. Please tell me things like what browser you are using: Firefox, Explorer, Opera etc, what version and language; also did the correct language show up for your browser?
As there are over 20 different languages that Gallery 2 is capable of including languages I have never seen please do not tell me about linguistical errors in the site as I did not write the programme. If you would like to volunteer to the SourceForce translation team please contact SourceForce directly and they would be more than happy to have your help.
Thank you for visiting The Iroha Project.
