A few words
"When we describe the Moon as dead, we are describing the deadness in ourselves. When we find space so hideously void, we are describing our own unbearable emptiness." ~ D.H. Lawrence "Is the meaning of life defined by its duration? Or does life have a purpose so large that it doesn't have to be prolonged at any cost to preserve its meaning?" "Living is not good, but living well. The wise man, therefore, lives as well as he should, not as long as he can... He will always think of life in terms of quality not quantity... Dying early or late is of no relevance, dying well or ill is... even if it is true that while there is life there is hope, life is not to be bought at any cost." ~ Seneca "People will tell you nothing matters, the whole world's about to end soon anyway. Those people are looking at life the wrong way. I mean, things don't need to last forever to be perfect." ~ Daydream Nation "All Bette's stories have happy endings. That's because she knows where to stop. She's realized the real problem with stories-- if you keep them going long enough, they always end in death." ~ The Sandman: Preludes & Nocturnes "The road now stretched across open country, and it occurred to me - not by way of protest, not as a symbol, or anything like that, but merely as a novel experience - that since I had disregarded all laws of humanity, I might as well disregard the rules of traffic. So I crossed to the left side of the highway and checked the feeling, and the feeling was good. It was a pleasant diaphragmal melting, with elements of diffused tactility, all this enhanced by the thought that nothing could be nearer to the elimination of basic physical laws than deliberately driving on the wrong site of the road." ~ Vladimir Nabokov, Lolita "It is easier to forgive an enemy than to forgive a friend." ~ William Blake Think about it Musicalities! Wednesday, August 13, 2008 My dad is pretty internet-savvy, but my mom fails at it. Seriously, she can check her email and search on Google but that's about it. I was just thinking of the way she asks about things. Whenever I'm writing an entry here and she sees she asks "are you talking to someone?" Although I'm glad she obviously isn't close enough to read whatever I'm writing, it's just... weird. Like "for the millionth time mom, I'm writing an entry, not chatting it up with random strangers." Eh well. Pictures from yesterday... A bug on the windshield. The "Amazing Chinese Acrobats" or something. There was actually a lot more than this but we got there kind of late. Woo, bunch of people riding a bike with fans! Trevor and Aaron were playing foosball (which, when typed out, looks really weird) and Trevor had something of a disadvantage... He kept saying "it's not fair!" haha. :P Caveman riding the Sky Glider or whatever it's called. They have a cavewoman too, but I didn't take a picture of her. Down below. A lighter picture, where you can see that there are actually people. And this I took today: Behold, my almighty canvas. So, a summary of yesterday/night's events. We picked up Aaron, then Trevor (who now has a moustache and sideburns...) and headed to the Boardwalk. My friend Gwenny (Aaron is her brother) and her mom were supposed to meet us a little later, but they were delayed a while. We played some games in the arcade and rode a few rides before they came. Aaron did not really enjoy Fireball, but it was pretty funny to watch him scream and close his eyes in an attempt to not be freaked out more than he already was. I hung out with the guys until Gwenny showed up, then we played some more games in the arcade (well okay, the big one, there are a lot of arcades). We rode Riptide, the Rock-O-Plane, Wipeout, and the Sky Glider (because I didn't want to walk to the other end of the park :P). There isn't much to say after that. We went home (Gwenny, Aaron, and their mom drove home in their own car) around maybe ten thirty-ish. Trevor and my brother fell asleep, and I did too for about twenty minutes... I stayed up a little longer when we got back. Elliot was watching The Darwin Awards, which... to be honest, I'd never heard of before. It wasn't bad though. Well, the parts I saw, I mean. I was kind of tired though, so I took a shower and went to sleep... You'd think I'd have more to say, but nope, not really. :P Holy crap. I had no idea it took so much work to make comics... now I really feel like I have to support him or something.... --- It's too hot to eat. :| Comment! (14) | Recommend! (1) | Recommend! | Categories: Poetry [t] And the answer is... up to interpretation Saturday, August 9, 2008 Writing some poetry. It's not very good. Too... disconnected. The things I write about are detached. People are always saying you have to put some part of yourself in good poetry, truly great poetry. I don't really do that. It's like someone is just writing through me. Aren't people usually supposed to have some sort of an idea about what they mean when they write something? :| Commenting on the one I just showed her... Varsha: it makes as much sense as a musical Varsha: would people really be singing their problems? Varsha: i don't think so Varsha: but it works! Bah. :/ I may post that one here, in a protected post, if anyone cares to read it. But only if you want to see it. There's no point otherwise. Comment! (3) | Recommend! Wawa! Thursday, August 7, 2008 I've been watching my cousin Nolan... he's two and a half. There's no 'terrible twos' going on here, he's a very well behaved kid. In a general sense, I mean. He's got a thing for pretzels... And drool. He drools a lot. Got a bunch of pictures of him and stuff. In the backyard. He found some old bird perches on the patio and was wandering around, holding them. Safari hat. Probably a leftover from when I used to have my birthday parties at the Jungle. Train conductor hat. (He likes that one more) That football ('baba') is pretty big, but he's also pretty small. Not too great with the scooter. He very much enjoys washing cars with 'wawa'. Getting more wawa. Child labor? No, of course not, what are you talking about? I took him to the playground (well, carried him there mostly) and we stayed there for an hour (two hours, according to my mom). Somehow some gum got onto my shoe so I was cleaning it off with some tanbark. He apparently found this very exciting, and watched me in awe. A few minutes later he got his own piece of tanbark and started picking at his shoe. It was really funny. :P Whenever he sees a car he says something that sounds kind of like 'dada'. I'm not sure, exactly. The sight of motor vehicles is very interesting to him... As is the moon during the day; he kept pointing to it and saying "moon!" And now, having carried him a lot and whatnot, I'm rather tired. I need to get back into shape... ---Edit--- My mom just told me that the school recommended I see a counselor. :S I have no memory of this, so she thinks I blocked it out. Yet I feel I would remember something like this.... I keep a paper journal, so if it happened within the last four years or so I would have a written record of it... but I don't see anything. I'M SO CONFUSED. --- Ah, okay, we figured it out. My middle school recommended me in seventh grade, because I spent all my time in the library. Comment! (4) | Recommend!
