Just take a seat, they're always free
no surprise, no mystery
A few words
"When we describe the Moon as dead, we are describing the deadness in ourselves. When we find space so hideously void, we are describing our own unbearable emptiness."
~ D.H. Lawrence

"Is the meaning of life defined by its duration? Or does life have a purpose so large that it doesn't have to be prolonged at any cost to preserve its meaning?"

"Living is not good, but living well. The wise man, therefore, lives as well as he should, not as long as he can... He will always think of life in terms of quality not quantity... Dying early or late is of no relevance, dying well or ill is... even if it is true that while there is life there is hope, life is not to be bought at any cost."
~ Seneca

"People will tell you nothing matters, the whole world's about to end soon anyway. Those people are looking at life the wrong way. I mean, things don't need to last forever to be perfect."
~ Daydream Nation

"All Bette's stories have happy endings. That's because she knows where to stop. She's realized the real problem with stories-- if you keep them going long enough, they always end in death."
~ The Sandman: Preludes & Nocturnes

"The road now stretched across open country, and it occurred to me - not by way of protest, not as a symbol, or anything like that, but merely as a novel experience - that since I had disregarded all laws of humanity, I might as well disregard the rules of traffic. So I crossed to the left side of the highway and checked the feeling, and the feeling was good. It was a pleasant diaphragmal melting, with elements of diffused tactility, all this enhanced by the thought that nothing could be nearer to the elimination of basic physical laws than deliberately driving on the wrong site of the road."
~ Vladimir Nabokov, Lolita

"It is easier to forgive an enemy than to forgive a friend."
~ William Blake

The mother-daughter brunch
Monday, September 1, 2008
So my mom had this great idea. She was going to hold a brunch at our house.

Yeah, I know, sounds like a terrific (waste of) time, right?!?!?!

Man. She went hiking at seven, I got up at seven thirty and made cheese puffs, cleaned off the table, did all my personal stuff and whatnot. (Well, not in that order but you get the idea)

Also made pizza whirl/roll thingys that were pretty awesome. And we have more phyllo dough so I'll probably make more. :D

My friends Gwenny and Meg came with their moms, and we had to sit at the table for two hours and talk and drink tea. I kept getting up partially because I was restless and partially because my chapstick was in my room.

When my mom was making tuna spread she asked us to go get a cucumber from the garden. We went outside, couldn't find anything in that mostly-edible jungle. Then I asked my dad, he got the cucumber, and clipped off this other.... thing.... that's supposedly draining the plant.

We do NOT know what this is. My dad says it's a mutant. I think it looks like a squash. A very odd squash. You can see that there's a normal cucumber next to it. So yeah, we have no idea what's going on there....

That tea made me sleepy I think. But I'm going to play Corpse Craft anyway 'cause DAMNIT I NEED TO BEAT LEVEL TWELVE.

I had a freakin' dream about that level. Which is kind of scary in itself because I can't remember ever dreaming about something that had happened recently before. Things in my dream world versus my real world are just... disconnected. I mean, there might be people I recognize, but 9.9 times out of 10 there won't be anything from my actual life. So yeah.

[I took that picture using my memory card in one of our other cameras but I have no clue how the thing works. That's why I like my (broken :'( ) camera, it's just... obvious how it works. You barely need instructions or anything.

Damn cheap complicated cameras. :|

These Two Words is in the player, along with the acoustic version of Finding Out True Love is Blind.

Gah, it's downloading so slowly!
Saturday, August 30, 2008
I've been playing lots of games on the computer... Mostly just free ones and stuff I found on Indie Games...

No idea how long I spent playing Corpse Craft. But I lost. :'( There's this one level where you start with a damaged workshop and I kept forgetting to put up adequate defenses. And I only managed to get enough resources to make two Flesh Behemoths... :|

Now I'm trying to download some game called Dirty Split that's supposed to be kind of like The Curse of Monkey Island... it's taking FOREVER. This is like when I would try to download DJ Bene's podcast back in the days when I had dial-up. Sad, sad times. It could take like ninety minutes to finish. No joke.

Um... so I haven't really been doing anything except playing games. Yep.

One of the other members of the SWR forum sent me These Two Words and it's AWESOME. I mean, I don't even usually like instrumental tracks that much but it's seriously great. I might put it up in my player later or something, dunno.

I've been what?
Thursday, August 28, 2008

This strikes me as quite YouTube-spam-y. Therefore I choose to opt out of... being... tagged...

It was horribly hot outside. Like walking around in a gigantic dryer, to use something I've said before. And we got kicked out of a classroom for being too loud so we couldn't stay away from the heat....

BUT on the bright side, apparently I'm not in AP Stats anymore! The teacher said I wasn't on his attendance so if it turns out they haven't dropped me yet, it's his fault for misleading me. When I found out that I didn't have to be there though, I left quickly. And... walked home in the heat. It felt like triple digits today, it really did. And there was this wind that was occasionally cool but sometimes felt like a hairdryer.

I drew a slug....

I didn't know what to write there though. Perhaps I'll hold another caption contest?

OH YEAH MY POSTERS CAME TODAY! I'm happy with them but sadly I can't show you pictures because camera = still broken.

But I don't so HA.

(I don't know who I'm HA-ing at)

This is a late entry. I had no idea what to write earlier. I thought I was going to draw something. But I guess not. Perhaps tomorrow?

Nobody (except middaymoon) really said anything about the squirrel. :| I think it takes me about half an hour to get the (decent) drawings done. (Well, "done" in the sense that they look nicer than when I start)

I did a collage for Brit Lit that started out good and then fell into disgrace. It looks kind of messy now, not artsy like when there was more space. (Ignore the rhyme...) I think the cut-outs from Office Max ads are what did it. :/

Blergh. [Sounding that out is fun]

My dad was just watching Babylon 5. Another one of those shows I grew up with... Man, I barely even remember most of it. I know that I annoyed my dad by asking why everyone was being so mean to this one character though... she was doing some sort of challenge or something and they were testing her I think... but I kept asking because I didn't understand what was happening and he got kind of mad and scared me.

It was pretty hot today. In the nineties I think. And it was a Spare the Air day but my mom drove us to this faraway Petco anyway... and she said she felt bad and that we shouldn't tell my dad. (Stupid rhyming) We stayed in the nice, air-conditioned building for a while and looked at the hamsters and parakeets and got a new toy for my birds. It's supposed to be a pinata thing that they can destroy. So that's good... they like destroying things...

Kinda dragging this out so it'll end here... Unless I edit it...

Yelling squirrel

I want my camera to be fixed... but I suppose I'll be drawing a lot more pictures until that happens.

(Inspired by ikimashokie's entry in case you didn't realize)

Let's see... today... not super eventful, I talked with Angelica in Weight Training and AJ in Brit Lit, Joanna in Econ and nobody in Physio (we have a seating chart and Alice isn't next to me...).

Stats was kind of awful. We watched something about statistics and Domino's Pizza... and I'm going to drop that class. I have the form and everything, I just need to get it signed.

It was super hot outside today, and I had to walk home in the heat. :/ At least it's cool inside my house.

Not feeling weird like yesterday. My head feels less full. (It sounds weird to say empty, because that always means stupid to people if you say someone's head is empty)

My Economics teacher is reeeeeeeeeeeeally creepy. He NEVER stops smiling. Thankfully I don't have to face him but it freaks me out. Seriously. It's scary. Really, really scary.
