Supermodel Gisele Bundchen says weak families are to blame for anorexia -- not the fashion industry that has been widely criticized for promoting waifish silhouettes, Reuters reports.



"I never suffered from this problem (anorexia) because I had a very strong family base. Parents are responsible, not the fashion industry," she said in the Friday edition of O Globo newspaper.

Gisele, who was ranked 16 on Forbes' list of the 20 richest women in entertainment this week, said that being skinny just goes with the territory in cat-walking.

"Everybody knows that the norm in fashion is thin," said the model who is 5'11" and 125 pounds. "But excuse me, there are people born with the right genes for this profession."

Blu-ray copy protection "cracked"

According to a post on the Doom9 forums, enigmatic hacker "muslix64" has had some initial success in bypassing the copy protection of Blu-ray discs.

Muslix64, who first came to fame for his work on the BackupHDDVD utility, posted that he was able to decrypt and play a Blu-ray media file without owning a Blu-ray player, by working on a file provided to him by another member of the forum. He claims to have used a "known plaintext attack" to find the encryption key, but did not specify any additional software he was running. The movie he decrypted was titled Lord of War, a suitable choice for the battle between copy protection and those who would defeat it.

Show is upsetting local residents

MTV's latest faux-reality semi-scripted hit TV show, Maui Fever, is causing waves of anger across the island by locals who don't think the show accurately portrays life of Maui residents, the AP reports.

The show focuses on a group of good-looking Mainlanders living in Maui. The cameras capture them performing their daily routines, consisting primarily of drinking, hooking up, surfing, hooking up, and drinking while hooking up.

"I thought it was kind of insulting...they just show partying," Abcde Shibao, 16, of Lahaina said. "But (young people are) active in school, community and sports. We do other things besides partying."

Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel

Actress Jessica Biel reportedly flew out to the Sundance Film Festival on Wednesday to spend time with new love interest Justin Timberlake.

"Jessica was picked up in her chauffer-driven Volkswagen Touareg car and instantly went to visit Timberlake when she got into Park City," a source tells Perez Hilton.

Biel, most recently seen playing a young soldier returning from Iraq in the film Home of the Brave, doesn't have a movie screening at the festival, although Timberlake's new film, Black Snake Moan, premiered on Wednesday.

The athletic twosome spent the following day snowboarding together, a Biel insider tells Perez.

Father kills daughter because he doubted her virginity

AMMAN, Jordan - A Jordanian man fatally shot his 17-year-old daughter whom he suspected of having sex despite a medical exam that proved her chastity, an official said Thursday. The man surrendered to police hours after the killing, saying he had done it for family honor.

The father shot the girl four times in the head on Tuesday. On Wednesday, an autopsy was performed that again showed "she was still a virgin," the pathologist said.

The crime is the first "honor killing" this year in Jordan, where many men consider sex out of wedlock to be an almost indelible stain on a family's reputation. On average, about 20 women in the country are killed by their relatives in such cases each year. Women have been killed for simply dating.

800 held in crackdown on sex-slave gangsters

No folks selling and buying prostitutes is not a dead practice. In Italy nearly 800 people were arrested for smuggling women into Italy and making them work as prostitutes.

The saddest part is that 1/5 of them were minors. This is what one 16 year old had to say. A 16-year-old Romanian girl, named as Maria, told reporters yesterday that she had been sold by her parents and taken to Ladispoli, on the coast north of Rome, where she was “treated like an animal”. Her captors had taken away her passport and mobile phone and put her to work at once on the Via Aurelia, the coast road. She said that she had tried to run away, but had been recaptured and beaten up. She eventually escaped and went to the police.

I went to church on sunday. It was great. I really enjoyed watching the children. Parents with their children are so entertaining. Maybe I am just getting old, but watching them brought me so much joy. The speakers were a little boring and watching the children helped me pass the time.

When you are a parent with little ones, it is hard to see your children as entertaining and the reason for happiness and joy. But when they grow up, you can appreciate and enjoy the happiness emitted from other peoples children.
