So when I start to see some face in neon dreams
engulfed in fantasies, the world seems more inviting
A few words
"When we describe the Moon as dead, we are describing the deadness in ourselves. When we find space so hideously void, we are describing our own unbearable emptiness."
~ D.H. Lawrence

"Is the meaning of life defined by its duration? Or does life have a purpose so large that it doesn't have to be prolonged at any cost to preserve its meaning?"

"Living is not good, but living well. The wise man, therefore, lives as well as he should, not as long as he can... He will always think of life in terms of quality not quantity... Dying early or late is of no relevance, dying well or ill is... even if it is true that while there is life there is hope, life is not to be bought at any cost."
~ Seneca

"People will tell you nothing matters, the whole world's about to end soon anyway. Those people are looking at life the wrong way. I mean, things don't need to last forever to be perfect."
~ Daydream Nation

"All Bette's stories have happy endings. That's because she knows where to stop. She's realized the real problem with stories-- if you keep them going long enough, they always end in death."
~ The Sandman: Preludes & Nocturnes

"The road now stretched across open country, and it occurred to me - not by way of protest, not as a symbol, or anything like that, but merely as a novel experience - that since I had disregarded all laws of humanity, I might as well disregard the rules of traffic. So I crossed to the left side of the highway and checked the feeling, and the feeling was good. It was a pleasant diaphragmal melting, with elements of diffused tactility, all this enhanced by the thought that nothing could be nearer to the elimination of basic physical laws than deliberately driving on the wrong site of the road."
~ Vladimir Nabokov, Lolita

"It is easier to forgive an enemy than to forgive a friend."
~ William Blake

My favorite Youtube comment today
Thursday, May 6, 2010
"i aint doing nothing wrong, all the women who reject me are. they cant get beyond my profane tshirts and truck nuts to see the honest, hardworking man who wants to have sex with them"

Hahahahahaha

Oh man, TFL is hilarious. The comments are pretty funny too when they're not in agreement with the ridiculous claims the TFL guys make.

(This is a TFL video edited by another Youtube user; it has a LOT of swearing in it, just so you know)

Should I be laughing at this guy's agony? Maybe not. Do I anyway? Yes, constantly. He complains about how he can't get women and how he shouldn't have to change for women, and all you have to do is examine him for a few minutes and you can see why he's alone. He doesn't want to try and improve himself so that he'll be attractive to anyone, and he thinks he has the RIGHT to a woman.

Check out their website, too, if you're bored. It ought to give you some laughs.

...But don't take any of their stuff seriously. These guys are psychos, as this video shows:

Saturday and nostalgia
Sunday, May 2, 2010
Ah, the sound of nostalgia:

I saw Kick Ass today. It was... um... interesting.

I would not watch it again.

I'm not saying it was bad or anything, but I really don't have the stomach for gore, and this movie certainly has its fair share of that. Casey said it looked fake, but I.... I dunno.

We snuck in some food to the theatre, heh. Bought more (super delicious aaaaah) vegan cheezy popcorn and some Babybel cheddar cheeses at a couple of the grocery stores nearby, which we hid in our bags and munched on during the movie.

After said movie, we went back to one of the grocery stores and picked up some yummyness for dinner. Got a Caesar salad kit and a piece of grilled salmon, some cheese sticks, this jar of Nutkao (another brand of Nutella-like spread), flat bread, hemp milk, and these... rainbow cake thingies.

Hopped on the train back to school, and whilst on the bus, we heard there was a bomb scare at Times Square---

UGH STUPID OKCUPID IM NOTICES

---from Casey's sister. We had to transfer at that station, so it was not long after we'd gotten out.

Fairly exciting.

In her room, we had salad and tea and tasty munchables. I had three bowls of salad with my salmon. XP Guess I got my Vitamin K for the day. I forgot to take any pictures before I ate all my food though, so you don't get to share in the visual experience. :P

I've no idea how it happened, but $79 got charged to my debit card today. I didn't buy ANYTHING that cost that much, and I know this for sure because I only bought food items. See, my Wachovia card was deactivated, so I transferred a hundred dollars to my other checking account to use for the rest of my time here, but then when I checked the balances online after getting back to my room tonight, it told me I only had seven dollars left in the account. I called up my mom to tell her about it, but unfortunately we won't be able to figure this out until Monday I guess...

I didn't lose my card or use it to buy anything online. All I did was hand it to a couple of cashiers and swipe it at 7 Eleven. What the hell.

Meh, well, at least I caught it.

---Edit---

I'm replacing the probably very disjointed rant I had typed up with this video:

Although the question remains: WHY?

Better pictures.
Thursday, April 29, 2010
I have some better shots of my final project for art.

The color is a bit better in these shots. Also didn't use flash, so there aren't any lighter spots.

This is what it would look like as a book cover. Would you pick it up if it were a real book?

Larger version HERE.

I touched up the color today. It turns out that if you get your colored pencils wet, they're darker. Almost like paint. The only annoying part is that you have to keep wetting the tips before every stroke.

And the whole picture head on...

Larger version HERE.

I wet a paintbrush and went over the bandages. It darkened them a bit, so now they look older. I'm rather pleased with the results of my little experiment. Still don't like the picture as a whole, but eh, what can you do?

Anyway, I had a lot of fun today coming up with awesome ways to torture/murder my ex-roommate that I hate with a passion. :)

Not sure if you guys are interested
Wednesday, April 28, 2010
...But I decided to sort of document my progress on my final project for ItC.

I didn't take a picture of it before I inked it, since pencil doesn't usually show up well when you use the flash. You may recognize the figure from a previous picture I did...

The inking took me like... fifteen minutes maybe? It was pretty quick compared to my last project, which took several hours. X| (It was three pages long and a lot more complicated though, so y'know...)

Larger version HERE.

I shouldn't have draw a full line between his right arm and chest, but I can't really fix it now. :|

This is after I colored it a bit. I colored the uh... bandaged guy first, then the fish, and then started on the cloud/water. I wasn't going to add the fish in the beginning, but the prof kept asking what was going to be in the cloud, so I had to think of something.

Larger version HERE.

This is after I finished coloring the whole thing lightly. The prof told me he thought it should "pop" and be "more punchy". What the hell does that even mean? I mean, I kind of got the sense that he wanted the colors to be more vibrant, but punchy? What does punchy mean? I feel like the designer in THIS COMIC.

Anyway, I worked on the colors a bit in the right page, as you can see.

Larger version HERE.

Here is the final product... I'm not sure why, but the left side still has somewhat lighter colors. My hand was getting tired from mashing the pencils into the paper though, so I decided I didn't care and said it was done.

I actually don't care for the piece very much, but I'm pretty much guaranteed an A, so whatever. (Sorry for the angled picture/unaligned pages; I couldn't make it work straight-on.)

I also worked some purple into the black background, but I don't think you can tell in this picture.

Larger version HERE.

The whole thing, start to finish, took me several hours. As you may have noticed, I don't really have any training in coloring, so it's not as... nice as it might've been if I'd taken any art classes past elementary school. X|

Anyway, here are some pictures of food:

Raspberry explosions.

Vegan popcorn flavored with nutritional yeast.

Most delicious popcorn I have ever had. EVER.

Okay that's it for now.

I can't think of the word
Monday, April 26, 2010
I just really don't want to do anything right now. Except maybe bash my head into the wall until I:

a) retard myself
b) die of blunt force trauma

-Sigh-

Sadly I would probably not be able to keep it up long enough.

I want to say I hate everything and I want to die, but I don't. And that's kind of dramatic anyway.

For English I must put together a portfolio composed of pieces I wrote this semester. I really don't want to do it. I must, though... And I know I will. But I don't want to.

We can put in an optional piece; anything we've written at all that we think fits the theme of the portfolio. I am considering using one of my posts here (one of the ones that isn't really stupid, I mean). Any suggestions? (I would actually be surprised if you guys remembered enough to make decent suggestions...)

Oh yes, and I'm pretty satisfied with my classical station on Pandora at the moment.
