About Art4TheHomeless
Imagine... a movement inspired by the arts to open the eyes of Americans to the plight of their own people. Imagine, through art, music and poetry, we are shining a much needed light on our own crisis: HOMELESSNESS

Art4TheHomeless was once a blog called Colors of Ink with Blogcharm, which closed down. Nutang, became the new home of Colors of Ink and was renamed Art4TheHomeless, by a really good friend, Samantha Medd. She is now the Co-Founder of Art4TH.

Now Art4TH is a 501(c)(3) Nonprofit Organization that unites artists of all venues to promote homeless awareness in the US.

Art4TH does this through the Art4TH Webzine, a monthly online magazine that features a musician whose music plays throughout the website, a feature artist, and a feature writer while also featuring a homeless relief organization. All artists featured retain their copyrights and all of it is free. If you would like to be a featured artist, musician, or writer contact me at [email protected]

I didn't realize until yesterday that my post about Obama and racism was recommended and became one of the best blog entries on nutang. Wow! That just floored me I was not expecting that at all. So I want to say a special thank you to eveyone who commented and recommended and for those of you who just come to support Art4TheHomeless,, the webzine and The Homeless Network, I want to encourage you to check out my fellow Nutangers' blogs as well!

The Webzine needs musicians, poets and writers, and artists for the December and January editions! I started this in August and look how far it's come along. I am glad its still going on.

So if you are an artist, writer, musician, or just want to advertise something for free, let me know and I will feature you. The webzine is promoting homeless awareness in America and features homeless service organizations on the front page.

The Homeless Network is a site dedicated to helping any homeless American citizen get back on their feet. The site reminds you that you are still an American citizen and has links to your rights, homeless law center, homeless medical center directories, homeless shelter directory with a map, and much more!

I also want to say a special thank you to the folks from Europe and Austrailia who emailed me sharing their support for Art4TheHomeless. It's encouraging to know that others around the world recognize the homeless situation and want to help the best way they can even if it's just an encouraging email.

I just want to stop and count my blessings
Saturday. 10.18.08 2:14 am
I have a job. My mother is safe. My bosses are good people. I have a roof over my head. We have food and don't go hungry. We have soap, shampoo, and other toiletries and we don't have to worry about that discomfort.

Life is good. I am glad that we made it. I am slightly worried that something bad is on the horizon because of the good things that have been happening, but life is short and I will enjoy the special moments that I still have with my mom. Oh yea, my mom has a boyfriend who is only 4 years older than me. He loves her with everything. I am glad for them.

They met on the streets a year ago when I was in Job Corps and he took care of her. I trust him.

I just wanted to post a thanks to God for making things okay.

It is a shame
Thursday. 10.16.08 3:25 pm
I posted a forum on Myspace challenging people to just pass the word along that the average age of a homeless American is only 9 years old and also that if they needed help, that help was out there. Do you know I got so many negative replies? This one really pissed me off, stupid ingnorant American:

How can the homeless check out the website since comcast does not come out to their cardboard boxes?

First of all, not every homeless person lives in a card board box. I didn't. I slept out on the concrete.

Second of all, for those of you who are uneducated, ALL public libraries have FREE internet and a lot of homeless Americans ACUTALLY USE THAT FREE INTERNET.

Ugh, I hate some Americans. They are so fucking stupid, ignorant, and I hope they get sued for something! If they ever became homeless, I would still help them though, I just hope they go through hardships like most of the homeless who are trying to help themselves do.

No wonder the MidEast and some Europeans hate Americans. We are so rude and dumb and base our rudeness and stupidity on ignorant facts that don't even exist!

Now, not all Americans are like that.

"I will not vote for Obama because he is black"
Monday. 10.13.08 4:37 pm
I have no respect for anyone who has uttered that statement. I was watching CNN and people were actually saying that they would not vote for Obama because he was black.

Nigger is a term derived from ignorant...and black people were labled this. I dare say that anyone who has utterd thate statement is a nigger and it doesn't mean they are black. It means they are dumb and ignorant.

If you are so worried about the color of someone's skin, then cut yourself. Hopefully your blood, along with everyone else's, will be red. If I am wrong, then you need to seek medical attention.

I hate it how our country is so racist, ignorant, and rude. Not everyone is like that, but the ones who are need a reality check.

If anyone is offended because I am white and used the N word, then you should be only if it was aimed at you. If it was aimed at you it is because you are not voting for Obama because of the color of his skin...stupid idiot.

A sad sight
Sunday. 10.12.08 3:00 pm
Today I had to go to the store and I walked past the Atlanta Task Force for the Homeless. I stay across the street from it but I usually take another route. Anyway, among the many homeless men, there was a family: a woman and three children that looked to be younger than nine.

They probably stayed the night there and since it's Sunday, the office is closed and hopefully they will get into a shelter tomorrow.

Working
Thursday. 10.9.08 1:39 am
I am getting more hours from my job which is excellent! Rent just got paid for a month, we got food to last for almost a month, and now its time to work on that October 15 Art4TH Zine! I do not have any poets or writers so far so if anyone is interested in being featured, let me know.

Also, I added a lot of stuff to The Homeless Network including the rights--I bet most homeless Americans don't even know their rights because they are too busy trying to just live. Also have stuff like mental health, health care, blogs by homeless Americans, articles on Gay Rights, links for anyone being abused or for an abuser if they wish to seek help.

I also stressed the fact that you are not alone. Many people feel isolated--I know I did-- and that isolation takes a toll. I was fortunate to stumble onto this website called Homeless Resources, which I will be including in the Network, and Homeless Resources will let you create a profile, talk in a forum, and do research. There is so much help out there on the Internet and I want to put as much of it together as I can so anyone who is homeless can access it without feeling the frustrations of google searches.

Even if you ain't homeless, check it out. You never know what you may learn and you never know when you may just need that kind of help.

The Homeless Network
Friday. 10.3.08 11:21 pm
Hey yall, I know I just put up a side website to links to help the homeless, but I did even better than that. I created a new website called The Homeless Network and it has links for homeless assistance, homeless myspace links, videos created by homeless Americans or created to promote Homeless Awareness. Basically this site is a doorway to help for anyone who needs assistance. I am, of course, continually updating the site and adding more features. I am going to put a page up that has links to blogs by homeless people and blogs helping the homeless as well. I want to have poetry about or by homeless people as well, but that is still yet to come.

You can check out the site at

A story that I am working on. Opinions anyone?
Thursday. 10.2.08 1:37 am
I have been doodling this story for a year or so and finally got it organized into a full fledged story. Well I am up to chapter seven. Anyways, I have no name for it and am posting part of the Prologue here. I will have the whole prologe and Chapter one on my writings page.

Feel free to tell me what you think and suggest names

Prologue 9600 BC

The woman stared at the full moon, large over the endless ocean and casting pale translucent light over the waves crashing against the rocky shoreline. She stood in the surf as the waves caressed her tiny feet. Her hair, long golden locks streaked with violet danced in the salted breeze. She leans on her staff; a blood red ring sparkles on her right hand.
Its almost time, she whispers aloud. Poseidon would tolerate Lord Domans greed no more. As if in confirmation of her thoughts, he rose from the waves; white hair flowing and ice blue eyes alive with a fiery wrath. Poseidons gaze locked with her pale violet gaze and she bowed on her knees with the waves washing over her whole body.
Rise, Lenehh Keltin, a feminine voice echoed across the air and sweetening the tension that was building in the atmosphere. Lenehh obeyed and was not startled to see Kyetsen, the Goddess of the mages, war, and refuge beside Poseidon. Kyetsen rare took a human form. Instead she was a huge white panther with violet eyes like Lenehhs. In fact, the eyes and hair are a signature of the High Mages of Atlantis.
Lady and Lord, I have tried to explain to King Doman, but he would have me outlawed. He is lost in his own greed. I come to you, tonight to beg you to spare one of his heirs and my daughter, Aislinn. I have both of the mage-rings in my possession,
You do not have to beg, Lenehh, for you have been obedient. Poseidon will spare your family and one of the heirs; however, the heir will be brought to Crete and become a priest. He will start a new line as will your daughter. The treasures of Atlantis are back in our possession since your king has misused them. It is time for a new year, and a new aeon to come forth. This age will decease after tomorrow night. Bring your family and the heir Mordecai to this spot at moonrise tomorrow eve,
Yes, my lady,
Go, my obedient child and rest well,
Kyetsen walked on the waves and nudged Lenehh as if in admiration.

The next eve, Lenehh, her young daughter Aislinn, and Mordecai, the heir barely in adulthood, waited at the shore bowed on their knees. Mordecai had his hair trimmed and was clean shaven. His blue eyes were averted to the sandy beach under his knees. The waves lapped at them, drenching them in warm water. Lenehh studied her ring and the ring she took from the king. There was three numbers on the banda symbol of the chosen one: 111. The numbers showed up in gold after a mage or a king has bonded with their ring and the god who chose them. Lenehhs was Kyetsen and the kings was Poseidon. The other ring was pale violet. Mordecais ring may never be bonded in the next few millennia.
The Order of Olympus is a vital enemy. If they know you survived, you may die or become enslaved. In time, they will have valuable records but not the glory or power that was once Atlantis, Poseidon spoke with the voice of thunder as he rose from the depths. With an icy breath, he froze the waters and Kyetsen, coming from the very air, guided the three to a ship. Lenehh gingerly stepped onto the ice with the children holding hands on either side of her. As they boarded the ship, Kyetsen spoke in a voice of liquid gold:
Take one last look for this will be the last time you will see your beloved Atlantis,
Lenehh gazed at the island. The moon was overhead and cast a brilliant light over the large mountain that rose to touch the stars. The inky black sky was clear, as if saying goodbye to the sleeping island. The warm breeze carried the scents of exotic fruits and flower known only to Atlantis. Lenehh did well to capture a few seeds to plant in her new home. She inhaled deeply of the sweet perfumes of the flowers and held her breath. The released it as the ship started to move.
Poseidon stepped onto the ice. With a breath, it was a living ocean and he nodded as he opened his mouth. Gales guided the small ship into the direction of Crete. Lenehh did not see the mountain explode, sending fire to slash the moon nor did she see Poseidon standing on the shore with his arms stretched over his head. The waves obeyed, icing over the continent as it hit.
