I'm kinda missing the old days right now. The days in Tucson when I lived in my own place and had a small, but great group of friends. The days of going out and having someone buy alcohol for me because I wasn't old enough to do so. Hanging out at the mall because that was the only thing there was to do in that town if you were broke. I don't miss the job I had there, but I won't deny that there were definitely some fun times.

Even further back, I miss the group of friends I had in high school. The 4 of us getting together just to chill at Downtown Disney. We'd kill a whole day that way. Or getting all 6 of us together and hanging out in Old Town.

But mostly I miss the closeness that my sister and I had formed when I moved back to Vegas. It went away right around when she had the baby. I miss the random texts that didn't mean anything, but we both understood them. The adventures in Wal-Mart at midnight or later. Wandering around the Strip or in the malls just for the sake of killing time.

I love Jacob dearly, but I need friends. I need to meet people who I can go hang out with on my days off. I need to be with people other than Jake. I also need to start going out on my own and doing things. I'm just working on my confidence in doing so. It's hard to find friends at this age. Unless you're in school or a frequent bar-goer. Of which I'm neither.

Even though I never really had a home, specifically, I guess you could say that I'm homesick for the "good 'ole days." I'm not really sure which place I lived in that I would call home. I guess it's a toss up between Kissimmee or Tucson. The wide abundance of stuff to do in FL versus the complete independence I had in AZ. If only there was a way to combine the two.

Anywho, I just needed to get that out of my system. I'll probably write again in a few days. Tron comes out Friday. I'm really excited for it. Hopefully after all the bills have been paid, there'll be enough to go see it.

Until next time NuTang...

the last entry was not about the movie, btw

It was about a bunch of rain that we were supposed to get, but didn't ...

It rained all day Saturday, got harder Saturday night, eased up Sunday morning, but it was pretty much done by 3pm Sunday evening. Supposedly it was supposed to be raining hard all day. I don't mind that the rain let up. It made patrolling the parking lots a lot easier. And dryer. But I thought it was funny that they made such a big deal about heavy rainfall and nothing that bad happened. The amount of constant rain did flood some of the rivers in WA, but nothing by us. Oh well.

I really have nothing to write. It's my weekend. I've got a few errands to run tomorrow and then Jacob and I will be meeting up with his aunt to see the holiday lights at the Bellevue Botanical Gardens. It's normally $5 per person, but during December there are a few free nights and tomorrow is one of them. Jacob was lucky enough to get the day off so that we can go together. I would have gone anyway, but I'm glad he's able to go.

I don't have anything planned for Tuesday. I just know that I need to be up kind of early {like before noon} so that I'll be tired enough to sleep Tuesday night for work Wednesday morning. It kind of sucks in that it cuts my weekend short, but working day Wednesday and not having to be back until swing Thursday kind of gives me an extra night.

Enough about work. I've only been working for a few weeks now and I'm already sick of it.

I guess that's it. This is no more exciting than my last entry, but there's a few links in it that should be clicked on. Just saying lol.

Until next time NuTang ...

Pineapple Express
Saturday. 12.11.10 3:46 am
This is what's coming our way this weekend. It's what's formerly known as a "pineapple express."

An "atmospheric river" is what it is currently known as.

Same thing. Pineapple express sounds cooler.

Unless you're a weather buff.

Either way, it means there's a lot of fucking rain headed our way. Which means a good amount of flooding. They're expecting a few different rivers to flood as well as streets to flood. The amount of rainfall estimated varies depending on your location, but the average ranges between 1 to 5 inches. Upwards of 10 inches in the mountains.

The issue is that Jacob has to be out in that rain the whole day. His 12 hour shift Sunday is exactly when the most rain is supposed to fall. I'll be at work too, but I'll be inside most the day.

Anywho, don't worry about my last entry. I was having a bad day and I needed to rant. I'm okay now.

We saw Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows on Wednesday night. It was good. I can't wait until the next {and final} movie.

Tron comes out next week. I seriously can't wait for that one either. It looks amazing. While you're on that site, check out the other videos they have on Tron. Making of videos, excerpts and such.

Alright. Just wanted to give a quick update. I shall write again sometime soon. Hopefully.

Until next time NuTang. . .

My weekend has finally come! I have two days off from work. I made it through 12 days straight ... but the paychecks don't exactly reflect it. Because I'd work either one job or the other. If I had worked them both on the same days, then yeah, it would be reflected. Oh well. It's still some extra money. But I am so glad for a day off. Two days off, to be precise.

I have some errands to run tomorrow, but other than that, I plan on just staying in. Maybe Tuesday I'll do something, but we'll see how things go.

Working security at a hospital is very different than the warehouse. There are some days when things are really, really slow and boring and then there are other days when we deal with situations. Situations like this.

It took up the last 4 hours of our shift.

Other than that, though, things are mostly calm. I've only had to respond to one code, but it wasn't a heart attack or anything. Mostly I just sit at the Urgent Care security desk or walk around on patrol.

The pay is considerably better. And I'm grateful for that. It's an entire $2.25/hr more than what I was being paid in Vegas. The next check should be a full paycheck so I'll be able to guestimate how much money I have the potential to save up from each check.

Anywho, I just wanted to share what's going on. And how much I'm going to enjoy my two days off. Jacob is off tomorrow as well so maybe we'll go catch a movie or something.

Until next time NuTang ...

free TV and other happenings
Wednesday. 12.1.10 11:19 pm
So the office lady called yesterday and said that a couple of tenants were moving out and wanted to get rid of their TV. They asked her if she knew anyone who wanted a TV and called us. So now we have a TV. It's an older model {as in bubble screen, not flat,} but it's like a 32 or 36 in TV. And it's free. Too bad we don't have cable. We just have the internet. Perhaps after the New Year, we'll add on cable.

I don't know if I originally mentioned it, but when we moved in we didn't have a hanger bar in the closet. So a few days ago the landlady brought one to us from a vacant apartment, but it was about an inch and a half too long. Today the maintenance guy came and cut off that piece so now we can finally hang our closes up and make it look more like we're actually living here.

I'm done with Target. Yesterday was my final shift there. Technically I'm still on the schedule until December 11th, but the shifts I was scheduled for have been covered by people who want/need the hours. Which is cool with me. It means that even though I didn't complete my 90 day probationary period, I'm still considered re-hireable. And it benefits them in the fact that they'll get more money.

I'm so ready for a day off though! Today was day 8 and I've got 4 left. Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday. I'm looking so forward to Monday. This is probably one of the few times that I'll be looking forward to that particular day. The start of my weekend is always a good day.

As much as I don't like working with the general public, it's a much more relaxed environment working at a retail store. Yeah, they stress about sales and such, but compared to security, it's a more friendly atmosphere. Sure, the security job here is much less tense than my last one. But it's still a higher-demand job. If retail paid more and could guarantee me the 40+ hours a week that I need, I'd definitely take retail over security. Unfortunately it doesn't work that way so I have to take the more financially secure job.

The new apartment is great. I absolutely love the view of the lake. I have to stop every time and enjoy it, if even for just a minute. Now that the snow storm has blown through and temperatures are back to normal for this time of year, it's been really nice. I have a feeling I'm going to be here for quite a long time before I even fathom getting sick of the rain. Having gone the last so many years deprived from the precipitation, even getting it every day is nice to me.

Anywho, I guess that's it for now. Perhaps I'll write again in a few days.

Until next time NuTang ...
