Writer's block
Saturday. 11.17.12 9:51 pm
I've been having writer's block for a while now.. Not that I do much writing but mostly around this time, I would already have some sort of a "speech" for Thanksgiving but until today.... zilch. I couldn't even write some pretty verses for my best friend's birthday.

While I find that I write best when I'm happy/excited, I am able to write when I'm not feeling my best but not these days.. I would sit down and the paper would continue to be blank until I give up. So... yea... I don't know, I find even as I write this post, I have nothing much to say. Anyway, if I am able to write something, I'll share it with you guys and hopefully that is soon.

I suddenly recalled renaye's cats' messages to me and that is to be more confident of myself and smile more. I will definitely try... harder. You guys always makes me smile even though this isn't a one-to-one, on the spot kind of a thing.. Thank you all for that =)

Sleepover
Monday. 11.12.12 9:05 pm
My oldest friends have been here with me for the past few days and I hate the fact that I had to work yesterday leaving them alone.. Luckily, today is a public holiday!!

They didn't let me sleep on Sunday night; clocked about 3 hours then I head to work, knock down a grande Toffeenut Latte and went about my day... I expected to not get any sleep last night but surprisingly they didn't wake me up... cause we all fell asleep at like 10PM.. I slept through the night, they, not so much.. They're in the next room, sleeping till probably noon so I have a couple hours to catch up on series and what-not.

I will so miss having them around as they are gonna leave later today (I think), nothing was really specified. I have at least 3 songs stuck in my head - Spider& Fly, the Duck Song and Big Bang Theory's Kitty song.. They're tormenting me with the last song because I didn't want to sing along with them.

Jinx
Wednesday. 11.7.12 8:23 am
Is there like two concepts of "jinx" or did I get it wrong?

For me, a jinx would be me announcing or mentioning that something good is gonna happen and it just doesn't. It somehow whatever it is gets ruined.... It happens a lot especially when I look forward to something very much.

The other concept of jinx would be when two people say the same thing at the same time. I wouldn't call that jinx, just great minds think alike ;D though a friend would go "jinx" whenever that happens.

What is jinx to you?

And... hopefully I don't jinx this but a dear friend of mine is going to be staying over at my place from tomorrow till Sunday! Hopefully we won't bore ourselves to death but is definitely an awesome prospect of having someone home with me that I can talk to.

Lists
Sunday. 10.28.12 11:46 am
I was going to bed when I thought of somethings, well, mainly that my friends have these lists that I somehow didn't get a memo somewhere along the way. They have a bucket list (which would be thanks to the movie of the same name), they have a list of instructions of things to do when they die and the usual for girls - wedding. Like I seriously do not have these lists. The one place I tell myself that I'm going to is like Japan which is like a mid-term goal for me and after that, I guess I'm going to continue making them up as i go. Is that weird?

I've never given much thought about these stuff because more often than not, I just wish that I don't end up getting royally pissed sometime throughout the day and that something that will put a smile on my face.

So... what kind of list(s) do you have?

Hong Kong (II)
Sunday. 10.21.12 10:31 am
Okay, I've been delaying updating and I think I should get it done while waiting for my locks to dry then head to bed.

Quick recap of the memorable things on my trip!

On my plane there, I sat beside this Spanish dude and he was chivalrous when it comes to helping me putting things on to the overhead compartment. First he put my bag up, then as we neared Hong Kong, and he was getting his own things, he offered to bring my bag down, which I gladly accept. So the plane landed and everyone was waiting to get off the plane and this aunty sitting two rows down and one seat to his left just stared at me. Man... Aunty, I can guess what you're gawking at but I'm not his wife! Even if I am, what's her problem, right?

The cab driver that took us from the airport to my hotel kinda annoyed my Hongkee friend and at the same time, his comments about Hong Kong was hilarious.

Advice 1: Come to HK to eat, not shop till you drop cause most things come from China and they're perfect imitation of the original items.

So we asked him if he is local, he said no. We asked him where he is from, "Made in China".

Had this milk pudding from Yee Shun Dairy Company as dessert and loved all that we had expect for the egg pudding.. because it has a strong eggy taste.

Day 2 - Went to Jumbo Floating Restaurant from dim sum brunch then all day in Ocean Park. If you have watched enough TVB dramas, you may know where I'm talking about! Dim Sum in HK are to die for.

Day 3 - Porridge at this hawker center in Central, Lady's Street, Tsim Sha Tsui's Arena of Stars, the Peak and then HardRock Cafe/Lan Kwai Fong for my friend's early birthday celebration!

The Peak was like super cold at night (for me)... So because we wanted to watch the Symphony of Lights, we decided to stay up there till it comes on at 8PM. We reached the peak at about 4-ish PM so there were a lot of time after touring the rather small Madam Tussaud's. At one point, just to make sure I don't turn into an ice-carving up there because I was only wearing a rather thin polo and jeans with my cardigan safely tucked into my luggage in the hotel (I did not expect to stay that long), me and another friend stood on the bench to take a picture. A while after that, this Chinese family walked buy (there are A LOT of Chinese family, like from Mainland China, Chinese family) and this kid which was about 6, who must have saw us, told his dad -

Kid: I wanna stand on the bench to take a picture!
Dad: Ni yao pai shi me? Shi Bei Feng? Ni yao pai Shi Bei Feng kan ma? (Think it'll only be funny to those who understands Chinese... in a not so funny way, the dad asked the kid "What do you want to take? The wind? Why do you want to take a picture of the wind?")

Then whilst the quite disappointing because we couldn't hear the harmonies of the Symphony of Lights, I was standing beside the crew who provides photo services for those who want a good quality picture of them with the view. One of the crew reached down to check the temperature with his phone and went "25 celcius)?? This cold and it's only 25?!" to which I retorted in my head "haven't you heard of wind chill?"

The dude who was in charge of the Hard Rock gift shop thought my friends and I were about 18... Sweet~

Day 4 - Macau / Shopping in Causeway Bay (which is near my hotel). Slight mishap while going to Macau for those staying in the same room with me because we were all quite sleep deprived, we forgot to bring out passport out and only realised it when we got to the ferry terminal to Macau.

Though, it was very, very hazy so pictures of the landscapes were just disappointing.

The Portuguese egg tarts were awesome!! And this is coming from the person who usually shy away from egg tarts because I have some sort of a phobia thanks to my mother. We kept it for about 3 days before finally finishing it and it was still fresh!

Forever 21 store closes at 1AM! Like wooootttt! Not that I shop a lot there, just amazed at how late it closes!

Day 5 - Citigate for tonnes of shopping at the outlet stores, H&M, then a steamboat place for dinner.

Basically, when I was there, it was super easy to lose track of time. Not sure why but we will always end up eating breakfast at about noon to 1PM then have dinner at like 9-10PM and because where we were staying the shops usually stay open till midnight/ 1AM, by the time I go to bed, it's about 2/2.30AM and then I'd wake up around 8-9AM depending on where we are heading to the next day.

Milk tea and their mango based desserts are a must to have there but different stores have their own recipe so it would taste different and you would need to figure out which is the one you like. I don't like mango stuff here in Malaysia because most of the time they use syrup and tastes bad. Over there, you taste real mango..

I shall leave you with my Hong Kong - Macau 2012 album

Hong Kong (I)
Saturday. 10.13.12 12:24 pm
Hello people! It's been a while. I hope you didn't miss me too much =P

I was in Hong Kong for the past week and I thought I should leave you all with a little something from my trip because I need to readjust my sleeping hours in time for work on Monday!

The first day, I spent it at the airport waiting for my friends to arrive because I flew there alone.

The second day was mostly spent at Ocean Park. In the month of October, in conjunction with Halloween, Ocean Park opens till midnight with a series of haunted houses for you to visit from 5.30pm. There are also employees dressed up as ghosts roaming around to scare you. Like this dude:

Was waiting for some of my friends to come back from the toilet when he came from behind and said "scare you to death!"

I don't find them all that scary but the make-up was awesome!

I popped the following cherries on that day:
1) spent 12 hours at a theme park
2) went to a theme park with friends
3) went for a roller coaster ride
4) went for the pendulum swing ride
5) spent money to scare myself (the night tickets are purchased separately)
6) went into 5 haunted houses in 6 hours
7) be the spearhead while going through the haunted houses
8) standing in line for almost 2 hours to get into a haunted house
9) staying out past midnight without a car
10) using public transportation after midnight

If you don't know, I am not a fan of the horror genre so I usually stay away from haunted houses and stuff but I guess I have proved to myself that I can enjoy these things because I know that they're not real and they don't scare me as much. My two Hongkee friends were like screaming all the way and so I spent pretty much most of the walk through the haunted houses laughing at them (I don't know why I found it funny).

Went to The Peak on the third day which brought me to Madam Tussauds and an awesome (albeit freezing) view of Hong Kong at night! We also watched the Symphony of Lights here but we were too far to hear the music so we couldn't make any sense of it. It was just blinky lights.

Anyone who wants this, please lemme know

Macau on the forth day, it was hazy so the view was quite bad. The Macau Tower offers you an opportunity to bungee jump! If we had the time, my friends would've went for it. Then we went shopping near our hotel. Forever 21 store opens till 1AM!!

Fifth day we went to the outlet stores for some more shopping! H&M is like omg so cheap! Actually not, I came back to Malaysia and checked the recently opened flagship store to find that things are only 10-20 bucks cheaper there.

H&M, you devil!

The last day was mostly at the airport, waiting to leave and the last attempt to spend ALL of my Hong Kong dollars.

And.. that's all in a nutshell! I shall leave you guys with Ghosts of Halloween-themed Ocean Park. You should all be able to view the album but only friends of friends are able to comment/like, I think.

Have a nice weekend everyone!

P/S: I've taken all pictures with my phone so the quality may not be good
