Every year we host a pretty big Halloween shin-dig. We've been doing it for about 6 or 7 years now and the past couple of years we've teamed up with another friend, whose husband also happens to be a professional DJ, and it is officially a big deal now. It is my goal to make every year bigger and better and my costume is a key aspect to me (obviously lol). Last year I made my own costume and it was awesome but it took forever and about made me go insane. This year I bought a starting piece but I'm not sure where to go with it and I was hoping one of the clever minds here could help inspire me. This is the dress (I got it from a thrift store for $1.50!!)





I was thinking about red riding hood IF I can do no better.. I was red riding hood 4 or 5 years ago and I don't like to repeat myself.

Here's the ideas I have so far:
Luci-fer (she-devil etc) with horns, tail, pitchfork
A peppermint patty, with red and white striped hose and gloves
Maniac baby doll, think rosy circles on cheeks, exaggerated freckles and silly pig tails with blood spattered on everything lol.

Any ideas for costumes or ways to make other ideas better would be soooo very appreciated!

Also of note, seeing how I only paid 1.50 for it I'm open to ideas that involve major alterations of the dress.

You could sew a couple of petticoats in and be a German beer maid.

Or un-ruffle the sleeves, get a vintage velvet and gold vest and be a cigarette girl, but pass out Halloween candy instead of cigarettes. A matching pillbox hat and a Cleopatra wig would look awesommmme.

I had thought about a cigarette girl! I found an actual cigarette girl costume I LOVED but it was $95 so not gonna happen there lol. I wondered if the apron would foil any attempts to make this a cigarette girl costume though.

And hahaha RJ. That's terrible but terribly funny. As far as Japanese, I had actually wondered if I could play it into a Hello Kitty costume some how. And it does look a lot like an actual character from an Anime show that's about Maids (I think).

I was also thinking of Jenny Appleseed (Johnny Appleseeds sister? lol) because I have TONS of apple accessories. Or even a werewolf red riding hood and call it red biting hood. Because what if the lumberjack who saved her (in the American version, LAME) was actually the wolf/werewolf?!

So I have officially decided on Goldilocks!

I ordered this wig, waiting for it to come in but hopefully it will be true to the photo.

My mom's got a pair of red sating mary-janes she's going to let me have and I'm going to tie a bow in my hair with red ribbon. I want to get some teddy bear jewelry from the little kids section of Claire's too. Any other ideas on how I could make it more obviously Goldilocks?

Hmm, well if you could get a few other people on board, you could have three bears. :P Or you could have three small teddy bears? The only other elements of the story I can think of are the porridge and the beds, but that's more tough.

I couldn't get any bears on board, my husband is SET on being scorpion from Mortal Kombat lol.

And Thanks! I like it because I still feel kind of sexy but I in no way feel naked, which I generally do in costumes. Why do guys get 100 cool costumes for like every 1 for women?? I hate going to costume stores it's like themed lingerie lol.
