May this post serve as a NuTang Forum for all future Flickr questions, etc.

My first question is this, every time I download an animated image to my Flickr account, it comes out with no animation. This happens rather I e-mail the images to my Flickr account or download the animated images directly from my computer.

Why does this happen and mostly, how can I resolve this problem?

My 2nd question is, why does dave recommend Flickr? Doesn't seem like Flickr returns the favor. For example, at Flickr members are asked:

Do you have a blog?
If you do, you can connect to it via Flickr. Why? So you can post photos you see around here straight to your blog.

When you go through the process, you have to connect to your blogging service first (by telling us the URL and your username & password), then you can choose a layout for each post (or create your own if you know a bit of HTML).

NuTang is not listed in the drop-down menu of blogs.

So instead, from the drop-down window I choose (none of the above) and click the next button, only to get this Flickr message:

Uh oh. It looks like we don't know how we can post to your weblog. Sorry!
You may as well return to your blogs page.

Like what the heck! Why than does Flicker even give the user the choice of choosing none of the above!

Haha, that's funny. It does seem like there's no point for the 'none of the above' option. Maybe they have something planned for it.

Anyway, I chose Flickr because it had a lot of nice features. Some people have said they would rather do everything through NuTang. Why do you (anyone can answer this) think?

As for the animation thing, I dunno. When you downloaded it to your computer. Was the animation still working at that point? That would be a good question to direct to Flickr. Other than NuTang using Flickr was the gallery pages, we really have no relation at all.

I'm pretty sure that Flickr is only used on Nutang to serve as a gallery. But if you want to use it to host your images for further display on a post, you could certainly use HTML. But that's stupid, it doesn't even give you some sort of alternative set of directions?

I liked Flickr for the nice gallery functions and they easy way to share a large amount of photos with other people (i.e. my family who lives in Seattle), but if I'm hosting pictures or whatnot or just my crap pictures and stuff...I would just use photobucket or something like that.

Yeah, I uploaded 2 animated pics and they came out as still(s). =/ I ended up putting the html to make them work on my blog. You know, my blinking baby profile pic? That's the one. =]

Yea dave, we rather do everything through NuTang. However; you have to decide the limits cause cost could be a costly factor. Images take up lots of bytes on servers.

Yes, my pix are animated on my computer, in my old web site, etc.

Yes, I would ask Flickr, however; I can't find their complaint or ask button ROFL

It's a conspiracy! They don't want you to complain!

Any more cliches? =]

Is the general concensus to control everything locally through NuTROL?

Don't worry about server space or cost. With the new server upgrade, that isn't an issue at all. The real limitation is the feature aspect.

I had one problem with Flickr and I eventually found their customer service e-mail, but it took them forever to respond...and even then, they still said I didn't have an account (which I did)...it was sort of a pain in the butt.

Once it got working again, I've never had a problem with Flicker :)
