Some of us have been scheming about things to do around here to liven things up a little, and we thought maybe a scavenger hunt might help some. While we're not entirely sure how we're going to go about this, exactly, this is a thread where we can practice the art of scavenger hunting on the internet. A batting cage for scavengers, if you will.

RULES:
i. Because this is a NuTang scavenger hunt, only post clues you can find specifically on NuTang. This could be a memorable image someone posted, or an excerpt off of someone's page on NuTang. The key is that it has to be something one might recognize from being on NuTang somewhere, otherwise it ends up being just a wild goose chase around the internet.
ii. The clue can be from ANYWHERE on NuTang - from a member's page, or somewhere in NuTrol, etc. As long as it is specific to NuTang, or known to be from or on something specific to NuTang. i/e: a memorable image from one of dave's posts, or something like that.
iii. Only one clue up at a time. First, the clue is posted. Then members hunt around NuTang looking for where the clue may be found. When the correct place has been found, the member who found it then posts a clue, and goes on from there. If there is a clue already up that has not been solved yet, DO NOT POST ANOTHER CLUE. This only makes things confusing in the end.

I like the idea of having a separate thread for every category, so even new[er] members can participate less hesitantly.
So do we want to implement this into the official contest?

SO let me get this straight:

Old content
New(er) content

Because we're doing the different threads for the different difficulties, each thread can have its own reward price. So what should the prices be?


Also, if you have any suggestions for tweaking the rules for different categories, etc, let me know and I'll take note of that when I get to creating the threads.

In terms of difficulty from easiest to hardest, I'd say the list goes

New(er) content
Active Member
Old content
Inactive member

But the thing is, the last two could be switched depending on date. How about if what we're looking for is over a year old and it falls into one of those categories, it has the biggest reward?

P.S.- The one banker thing sounds a lot like the one ring to rule them all. :P

As for the last two difficulty levels, these guidelines might be helpful.

If a clue is from an inactive member in any way, it should go in the Inactive Member category.
I/E: If a clue is old content from an inactive member -OR- If a clue is "newer" content from an inactive member (i/e: on the first page of their weblog, or in their profile), then it'll still go in the category.

Otherwise, it'll go in the Old Content category. (i/e old stuff from current/active users, and old stuff from Nutang itself, too.)

What do you think of these guidelines?

That sounds good. After I'd turned off my laptop and started to fall asleep, I realized that I really should've thought about my response a little longer, but it was too late. :P

Technically the Active and Inactive Member categories should just include the content ones as subcategories, I think.

I agree. Two categories: Old content, New content. then active/inactive under that.

So what should the prize amount be for the different categories?

It should be enough to get people interested, at the very least. Do you think 30 -70 pps would be a good number?

the price amount could also be different depending on how hard it is. Like maybe we start off with 30 and lets say for every 5 wrong guesses we increase the amount awarded by 5 or 10 pps.
