I'm torn between two states: California, land of sun and bikinis.. New York, land of.. abunch of buildings.. and.. bluetopaz?

Well since I've never been to New York and lived in California for most of my life, my opinion is biased, but I would say if you enjoy great weather (at least in San Diego, as that's what I'm basing this on) than I say go for California.

In terms of education, Berkeley and Stanford are excellent for law, or so I heard, and UCSD and UCLA also have very competent law programs. I don't know what you're more keen on, but southern California in particular seems a lot more relaxed and laid back than northern California, and especially against a city as enormous as New York.

Not to mention Califorinia probably has more per-capita law suits than other states...

Haha I wouldn't know about New York, but based on first hand experiences from people who have lived in New York City and its burroughs(?), I got the impression that they're just a tad more, um, outspoken. Yeah, that's it, outspoken. [=

The sting of the playoffs has worn off a little now that Football season is about to start,, so It's back to NY v Cali v Michigan v whatever state needs an ambassador to Nutang the most.

@bifocalLs: First of all, it depends on where you are and who you're talking to. Some people are like that. I think I mentioned it in the first page of this thread. =P
Second of all, just because we don't let people step all over us doesn't mean we're more outspoken! Though, is that really a bad/good thing? 0.o What kind of outspoken-ish-ness are you talking about?

I still say the major reason for NY is...it's freakin' New York City! There, I'm done. ^-^
