KKama67 | The full moon can increase your intuitive abilities - Posted on 2006-11-05 23:33:14

Myth states that the full moon is said to rule things like

1. feelings
2. intuition
3. cycles
4. psychic powers and more.

When a woman has her period her intuitive ability increases. She becomes more sensitive to hunches and peoples feelings.

What is your take on this myth??

We already know that the moon has an effect on the tide cycles and all...

I wonder if that gravitational pulll has an effect on our moods like the myth states. I would tend to believe it and lean toward it not being a myth, but I'm sure it would be VERY hard to test and maybe that's why it hasn't been proven.

"It is not scientifically credible that the Moon's gravitational influence on the tides can be related in any way to an analogous gravitational influence of lunar phases on human moods. If we were marine animals then perhaps there could be an effect on us from the motions of the tides themselves (not due to the influence of the Moon on us directly), but we are not, and there is no physical mechanism by which the level of the tides can remotely influence the physical behavior of a body far from water."

"The only other way the Moon can influence us physically is through its light, in which case we would expect to see no effect on people who spend evenings indoors, and it would be possible to reproduce the effect by varying indoor lighting. I am aware of no studies that show such a correlation."

KKama67 | Full Moon not to be blamed for epileptic seisures - Posted on 2006-11-06 18:18:01

The full moon may be the blame of many things but seisures are not one of them.

Researchers at the University of South Florida report that the gravitational tug exerted during a Full Moon does not influence the frequency of epileptic seizures.
Yet patients were claiming their seizures were triggered or worsened by the Full Moon, even some health care professionals believe this, but it's never been scientifically tested.

I could use some full moon.

I always liked that the Japanese said the spot on the moon was a "rabbit making mochi".

I thought it was cute.

We say that there is a beautiful lady or a cute widdle rabbit on the moon...okay the 'cute widdle' part is me. XP

This is what the japanese believe...

Tsuki-Yomi

Tsuki-Yomi was the Moon god according the oldest Japanese religion, Shinto, which means "the way of the gods." Tsuki-Yomi was born from the right eye of the primeval being Izanagi. Tsuki-Yomi initially lived in the Heavens with his sister, the Sun god, Amaterasu.

But once, Amaterasu sent her brother as her representative to the goddess of food, Uke Mochi. To celebrate, the goddess of food offered him a wonderful meal, created from her mouth and nose. Tsuki-Yomi was so disgusted that he killed her. When Amaterasu learned of her brother's misdeed, she was so angry that she did not want to see him anymore. Since then, brother and sister have lived apart, alternating in the sky. That is why the day always follows the night.
