So THAT'S where all the people reading this come from... | Rough draft for the dedication to my thesis. Thursday, August 25, 2011 @ 7:47 pm I never thought the day would come that I was going to write another thesis dedication. Sometimes life can give you lemons, and you just have to man up and make lemonade. And here it is: my �lemonade� made from fresh squeezed lemons (never from concentrate). Now that the thesis has been written, I am faced with a potentially-difficult question: whom am I going to thank?
First and foremost, I would like to thank my family: my parents, Raul and Norma, without whom I would not exist; and my little sister Alyssa. If you let me tell you all of the things that they have ever done for me, I would talk forever and never quiet down: their continued love and support (both emotional and financial) have allowed me to pursue a career in science, and I am never going to forget all that they have done for me. I can always count on them to run around in circles and bend over backwards to help me succeed, and you can always count on family to never desert you in your time of need. I would also never be remiss to thank my wonderful thesis advisor, Dr. Kathie McGuire, for going to great lengths to make my Master�s degree experience a positive one. Sometimes, in science, the work can make you cry�but Kathie (and the McGuire lab, really) kept the painful parts of science to a minimum. I will never forget the good times I have had in the lab. It is going to be hard to say goodbye, but all good things never last forever, and must come to an end. Finally, I am going to thank the real unsung heroes of this study: the colon cancer patients whose samples we have used to complete the study. I will not tell a lie: I cannot ever imagine the pain and hurt these people have gone through during the course of their disease. But I firmly believe that when you die, a piece of you lives on�and in this case, this is literally true. Recommended by 4 Members     5 Comments. brilliant.
