Interesting What These People Can Do

We're Missing You Mitch
I got an ant farm. Them fellas didn't grow shit.

I haven't slept for ten days, because that would be too long.

One time a guy handed me a picture of himself, and he said, "Here's a picture of me when I was younger." Every picture of you is of when you were younger. Here's a picture of me when I am older. You son of a bitch, how'd you pull that off? Let me see that camera...

On a traffic light green means go and yellow means yield, but on a banana it's just the opposite. Green means hold on, yellow means go ahead, and red means where the fuck did you get that banana at...

I'm against picketing, but I don't know how to show it.

My lucky number is four billion. That doesn't come in real handy when you're gambling. "Come on, four billion! Fuck. Seven. Not even close. I need more dice."

If you had a friend who was a tightrope walker, and you were walking down a sidewalk, and he fell, that would be completely unacceptible...

I wrote a script for a guy, and he said he liked it but he thought that I need to rewrite it. I said, "Fuck that, I'll just make a copy."

The depressing thing about tennis is that no matter how much I play, I'll never be as good as a wall. I played a wall once. They're fucking relentless.

An escalator can never break. It can only become stairs. You would never see an "Escalator Temporarily Out Of Order" sign, just "Escalator Temporarily Stairs. Sorry for the convenience."

Alcoholism is a disease, but it's the only one you can get yelled at for having. Goddamn it Otto, you are an alcoholic. Goddamn it Otto, you have Lupis... one of those two doesn't sound right.

I was at this casino minding my own business, and this guy came up to me and said, "You're gonna have to move, you're blocking a fire exit." As though if there was a fire, I wasn't gonna run. If you're flammible and have legs, you are never blocking a fire exit.
Can It Be True?

I happened to go to Kevin's website (www.kevinrose.com) today and by chance stumbled upon an entry he had created. It was entitled "Free Copy of Windows XP Pro." I figured what the hell and read on. So, I read through and went to the link. It was a bit weird. You could answer questions and stuff. When doing so, you get points to work towards awards. Well, some guy had also published all the answers in a forum so you could zip right through them. I got enough points to order a free copy of Windows XP Pro. I am anxious to see if this was for real. Of course. it will take forever to get here. I also created a few more accounts under my brother's and mother's names. I got Microsoft Flight Sim. 2004 and some pens with my mom's. I ordered a nice Microsoft keyboard and mouse combo with my brother's. This should get interesting if it really works.
Here is the website to go to:

http://www.windowsmobiletraining.com/

You'll have to get an account and also come up with a company name as well. The site has also been heavily bogged down by people, for apparent reasons. Also the forum post with all the answers has now been blocked or removed. So you'll have to pay close attention to the "Training" to answer the questions. You need 1500 points for the keyboard/mouse combo or XP Pro. Flight Sim. is 400 I believe. I'm glad I got it done quickly before the answer post in a forum was taken down.

My bundle of free stuff from Novell should be coming soon. Within the next day or two I suppose. Though with the way Tyler has been talking about the USPS, it might be another month.

I just got my grandmother to order me some shirts from Jinx (www.jinx.com) the other day for my birthday in August. I was showing her the ones I liked, and surprisingly she found them to be humorous. I need some RIAA toilet paper. That has got to be one of the funniest items. Using the RIAA to wipe your ass. Classic.

We need a damn LAN Party. Where are those SEVALAN biotches? Lets go fellas, I wanna shoot somebody in the fucking head with BAWLS in my left hand and an optical in the other.

Firefox still rocks. Extensions make it even better.

Oh yeah.

Matlock is still the shit.

He is fuckin incredible.

Out.

Technology Guru's
Saturday. 7.10.04 12:19 am
Some people from the early ARGS days might remember the phrase in the subject line. Mr. Roane assembled a crack team of supposed "technology guru's" to help with his and other people's technical needs. Too bad most of them were, and probably still are, idiots. Oh well.

Little bit of an update for everybody. A flaw within Windows has forced Mozilla to put out a patch to protect from bug 250180. This patch is only necessary for Windows users. This bug can affect Mozilla, Firefox, and Thunderbird. Users can either download the patch or install the newest release. Seeing as the patch is only 1 kb and requires nothing but running and clicking "install now," the patch is the easiest way to go. I'll post a link to the fix, but if the link does not work, just visit www.mozilla.org. Anyways, here's the patch:

http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/mozilla/releases/mozilla1.7.1/shellblock.xpi

On a lighter note, I've been tinkering around with some more Firefox extensions. The first being All-in-One Gestures. All-in-One allows for what is called "mouse gestures." An example would be instead of clicking the back button to go back a page, you could hold down right click and draw a symbol with the cursor. Whatever symbol you draw is already assigned to a certain task. It's really customizable and allows you to assign almost any gesture to almost any browser fucntion. It'll make your friends wonder how you did that for sure.

Everyone loves tabbed browsing. It's a very useful tool to have many different web pages open without having the clutter of windows. I've found an extension called Tabbrowser Extensions (very clever huh) that adds even more functionality to tabbed browsing. Some of the features are highlighting, duplicating, and dragging and dropping tabs. You're even able to revive a tab you may have accidentally closed.

Extensions are great and all, but sometimes they just aren't what you are looking for. Well, there's a flaw there. Firefox didn't create a way to remove these extensions. They can be removed manually, but I don't want to mess with files that could be critical for Firefox to even run. The aptly named extension, Extension Uninstaller, will do the trick. It allows you to uninstall extensions with a few clicks instead of having to edit certain system files. Very good idea. Firefox's next release will automatically support extension removal. But for now, Extension Uninstaller works wonders.

I was going to talk about a program called Exact Audio Copy tonight, but I'm tired. Damn, my blog is turning into tech reports. I'll get over this after a while and get back to normal blogging. Just not tonight.

Out.

G-gg-gg.....Gmail!
Friday. 7.9.04 12:07 am

Well the long wait is over. I now have a Gmail account. Trying to cram a lot of stuff into the 1 GB of storage space. It's like a removable hard drive that you can lug anywhere that has an internet connection, except you don't have to carry it and its free. Although Gmail does have a huge 1 GB of storage space, there is another web based email called Aventuremail that boasts 2 GB of storage for free. It's worth checking out, but for right now Aventuremail isn't taking any new registrations at this point in time. Be sure to check back there.

Everyone seems to be jumping on the Firefox bandwagon, for obvious reasons I might add. Far more superior than IE, Firefox allows for: tabbed browsing, pop-up blocking, and a google search built into the toolbar just to name a few things. Where Firefox really takes the cake is with the ability to add extensions through the Extension Manager. For those who have Firefox, its under Tools then Extensions. During your initial download of Firefox, you may have noticed the small size of 4.7 MB. It's amazing what comes in such a small package. Back to extensions. Say you come across a web page that is only supported by IE. It's tedious to have to go open IE to look at that page. There is an extension called IE View and it allows for that page to open in IE. It adds the option to the context menu.

There's also Adblock to disallow those pesky adds you hate from coming up (we've all punched that damn monkey silly, we don't care anymore). Now the one extension I really like is called BugMeNot. Let me explain. Say there is a newspaper article on a newspaper site that you want to see. Most of these newspapers require a registration or login of some sort. BugMeNot is a large database of username's and passwords and, in retrospect, allows you to bypass that tedious registration. I don't want a site to know too much about me, but thats my opinion. There are so many extensions, including games. A site I would recommend is:

http://texturizer.net/firefox/extensions/

It has a ton of extensions and breif descriptions on the extension. It also tells you how to load extensions into Firefox. Very cool stuff.

Just in case you didn't notice, I changed the picture at the top of my blog. I was playing around in Macromedia Flash and Fireworks today. Took a picture from last year's LAN party (powered by NVIDIA, yeah right), and made it look the way it does. Thats Wade by the way.

Yep. I'm waiting for my Linux Technical Resource Kit to come in, courtesy of Novell. I don't understand why or how this deal came about, but I'm not one to complain. I just work here.

By the way, mark your calendar's for October 1st. Right at the Ted Constant Convocation Center at Old Dominion University, Dave Chappelle will be performing. I am definitely gonna go. He is one funny guy. Especially his stand up routines. I think some of those are way better than his show on TV.

Time to catch up on some sleep. Tech titan out.

Time for the Tech News That Caught My Eye Today
Tuesday. 7.6.04 11:59 pm
For anyone who likes to play with Linux or would like to take a stab at it, Novell has a great offer for ya. It's the Linux Technical Resource Kit. Just go to http://www.novell.com/community/linux/order.php to check it out. Here is what you get:

- SUSE LINUX Standard Server 8.0 (ISO Installation Images)
- SUSE LINUX 9.1 Professional (Bootable Installation DVD)
- Ximian Desktop 2.0 Evaluation (ISO Image)
- Ximian Red Carpet 2.0.2 Evaluation (ISO Image)
- Novell Linux Services 1.0 (ISO Image & NLS Companion CD)
- Novell GroupWise for Linux 6.5.1 - Server, Client & Messenger (ISO Images)
- and more...

SUSE is a great Linux distro to check out. It is very easy to use like Mandrake, and if you are switching from Windows, SUSE will be totally understandable. Some may be wary about installing Linux onto their machine. It'll take a bit of getting used to, everything does. The easiest thing to do is if you have another computer, preferably one not being used, to install it and check it out. With the deal from Novell, you get over 10 GB of tools and software on CD's and DVD's. Here is the best part of it...

IT'S FREE.

So even if you don't want it, fill the form out. Make yourself feel special by getting mail.

Gmail accounts are becoming a highly coveted item now. I'm still trying to capture one of the "holy grail" of email addresses without buying one on eBay. I need to make a contact or two for an invite. Though Yahoo is trying to improve with the 100 MB of storage, it doesn't compare to 1 GB. Weeks of pleading has gotten me nowhere so far. So if anyone on Nutang has a Gmail invite, feel free to kick it over here:

sstephenson_2003@yahoo.com

Spiderman 2 smashed through box office records this past weekend. Over $160 million in a small span of time. I had the opportunity to see it today. I must say, it is a great movie. The first one was good, but this one was so much better. I have to agree with Chris about the "leaving the story wide open for another movie" thing. I won't spoil it for anybody. I'd hate to ruin a good movie like that.

Apparently, I knew a lot more about spyware than I thought I did. Anyone having trouble with it should refer to thecav's blog here on Nutang. He was talking about spyware and I went on a total rant about it and some helpful programs and tips.

That about sums it up. Now that's news to me.
