to get your name up here, read the subject of the latest entry. it's a line from a song, with one word replaced. if you find out which word it is, the name of the song, and who performed it, comment on the post and you'll be added.

for example, if a subject was "slap me baby one more time," you'd know that the real lyrics are "HIT me baby one more time," so you'd comment on the entry saying:

"oh master rick, ruler of mankind! i, your humble servant, have found the true lyrics to the song. HIT, from the song ONE MORE TIME by BRITNEY SPEARS. i only pray that you will show great mercy and bestow upon my worthless self a single point and a mention in the sacred hall of fame. gramercies, oh omnipotent one!"

and i would do just that.

note to self ...

how that TRANSLATOR used to make me smile
Thursday. 05.20.04 07:39 pm
mood: optimistic

well, the dance is tomorrow. i got my ticket and everything. i'm really excited about this one.

let's see. i've noticed that most of my posts recently have been boring stuff about my drama. no one wants to read that. so i'm going to lighten the mood a little bit with some translator fun.

here, i took the lyrics to the infamous "baby got back" and translated the entire text into chinese. i then translated it back into english. hilarity ensued.

i have interwoven the lyrics for your enjoyment. english is in white, english to chinese to english is in red ...

Oh my god, Becky, look at her butt
Oh my god, Becky, the look

It is so big
it is very greatly

She looks like one of those rap guys girlfriends
she looks like in hers butt likely these to reprimand person girlfriend's

Who understands those rap guys
middle to understand these reprimand the person

They only talk to her because she looks like a total prostitute, ok?
they and she only converses because she looks like an elephant complete prostitute, approval?

I mean her butt
I meant it is her butt

It's just so big
very greatly

I can't believe it's so round
I am unable to believe

It's just out there
it is therefore surrounds

I mean, it's gross
it is outside me there meaning,

Look, she's just so black
this is the total look, she is therefore the black

I like big butts and I can not lie
I like the big butt and I being unable to lie

You other brothers can't deny
your other brothers to be unable to deny

That when a girl walks in with an itty bitty waste
when the girl comes in by the itty piece waste

And a round thing in your face
and a round front matter in you to want your face

You get sprung
butt obtained the resilience

Wanna pull up front
which pulled out

Cuz you notice that butt was stuffed
Cuz you to pay attention to be deep deeply has been stuffed

Deep in the jeans she's wearing
in her is wears I the jeans

I'm hooked and I can't stop staring
which hooked and I to be unable to stop staring

Oh, baby I wanna get with ya
Oh, I want to obtain

And take your picture
and adopt your picture with ya

My homeboys tried to warn me
my homeboys to try to warn I was young

But with that butt you got
but you obtain me by that butt

Me so horny
that to have the angle

Ooh, rub all of that smooth skin
Ooh, the friction possess that smooth skin

You say you wanna get in my Benz
which you said you to want to obtain in mine benzene

Well use me, use me cuz you ain't that average groupy
well use me, used my you is not cuz which that average groupy

I've seen them dancin'
I saw they dancin

The hell with romancin'
the ' hell and romancin '

She sweat, wet, got it goin' like a turbo 'Vette
she sweats, gets wet, obtains its goin ' to look like turbo '

I'm tired of magazines
I for the magazine is tiredly

saying flat butt's the only thing
said the even butt the only matter

Take the average black man and ask him that
took the common black and to ask his Vette

She gotta pack much back, so
she obtained the packing, therefore

Fellas (yeah), fellas (yeah)
fellow (), The fellow ()

Has your girlfriend got the butt (hell yeah)
had you the girlfriend to obtain the butt (hell)

Well shake it, shake it, shake it, shake it, shake that healthy butt
the well to vibrate it, vibrated it, vibrated it, vibrated it, the healthy butt

Baby got back

see? i warned you about the ensuing hilarity.

[sings "baby came back vibration"]

and maybe I'D be happy for a while

mood: oh em gee.

i swear to fucking god.

okay, so all of you know about yesterday's field trip incident? yeah. well yesterday, after i posted that entry, i was talking to this other girl online who lives in san francisco. we had just met the day before, and she was talking about this guy in her gym class who she wanted to ask to the dance. i've seen this girl, she's really cute. so anyways, i tell her about the girl who i was going to ask, and so that night we're both sort of bundled up in our own drama. but we wish each other good luck.

then yesterday happens, as you know. i was hoping that things didn't go too well for her (i know it's mean) so that maybe we could, i dunno. anyways. so i IM her, and as it turns out, not only will the guy go to the dance with her, but they're now going out. and, AND, they ... did stuff.

isn't that just grand?

and to make matters worse, i was up last night until four o'clock doing that wretched chemistry project.

so lack of sleep plus lack of girl equals not so happy rick.

i think ASYLUM would be a good idea, huh tracy?

[puts paper bag on head]

on the other hand, there's that all-district high school dance on friday, which i really want to go to. maybe find some picnics (hot girls). because lord knows there are no picnics in mills. i mean, no offense to the ladies reading this, but you know what i mean. picnics i'd want to go out with. all you girls out there are like sisters to me, and i'm just into that whole incest scene.

so lack of sleep plus lack of girl plus dance this friday equals ... eh.

do you recall what SHE revealed
Monday. 05.17.04 05:05 pm
mood: ... different.

well. today was interesting.

i know writing about it is sort of risky, but who cares.

field trip today. spent the whole day with her. all day i was determined to ask her whether or not she liked me. there were multiple instances where we were alone and i could have asked her, but i kept putting it off until later.

finally, it was almost the end of the day, and we took BART back to millbrae. but since she lived in san bruno, she was going to wait until the BART went back to san bruno so she could be closer to home. i decided that i would walk with her, and then just take the bus home. so we walked and walked, i kept wanting to ask her, but every time that i was about to i would choke up. finally, at the bus stop, before we parted, it slipped out. i was kindly rejected.

but you know what? i'm not so sad. this has been going on for months now, and it feels good to get it off my back. now that i know the truth, things will get better. no more false hope, no more whiny IM conversations with other people, no more sleepless nights.

i'll go cast my line somewhere else. there are plenty more fish in the sea.

mood: hopeless. devoted.

way too tired to update. but i'm doing it anyways.

i won't go into detail on how well the spring concert went, or how fun the dance was, or how much my legs hurt from dancing all night, or what exactly happened that's making me feel this way.

just let today (or, yesterday, technically) go down in history as the day i realized just how slim my chances of getting with her really are.

see you all later. good night.

oh and as i watched THEM on the stage
Saturday. 05.08.04 12:41 pm
mood: relieved

well the talent show was last night. i was so freaked out. i don't know why. i wasn't this scared for charlie brown.

i think it's because we only rehearsed our song for four days, whereas for charlie brown we were working on it for ten weeks or so.

i messed up on the harmony, i think, but sammy was so good. and the other acts! wow. wow wow wow.

everyone who participated was great. i loved all the singers (jennifer, jan mike, the rest of the a capellers, shannon, breena, etc. etc.), the dancers (gen2 was ... wow), the bands (element 94 rocks my socks!), the piano players, the glowstickers, the yo-yo-er ... it was a great show.

yeyuh.

04.29.04

well tonight was opening night. things were hectic, mics weren't getting signals, spools were lost, and sandwiches were nowhere to be found, but in the end it all pulled together.

let's see. i'm gonna copy dan's xanga a bit ...

ciara (marcie) - good job on not laughing during the cartoon boxes (they're like slaves!). that would have been bad. great job also on book report. oh, and thanks for letting me use your mic. you were great.

tracy (pep) - great job on book report ... you got all your lines! and good job on the a capella part. thanks for giving me my starting note.

david (schroeder) - nice energy! can't believe you're only a freshman, dude. keep up the good work!

linden (violet) - i love your drawing today on my bag. also, good job on book report as well. my aunt really liked your voice.

dan (snoopy) - oh my god dan, my little siblings loved suppertime. like david said, suppertime would either make or break the performance, and tonight it made it. he said it in some ghetto talk too; quite humorous.

jeff (linus) - i couldn't get enough about how great of a character linus was. my mom said you looked and acted like a real kid, and after the show she saw how tall you were and was surprised.

amanda (lucy) - despite your loss of voice, you pulled it through. great job on little known facts as well. my mom said you also looked like a kid onstage. my little cousin nadine (the one that looks like shirley temple) said her favorite character was the "crabby girl".

kelly anne (sally) - thanks for letting me use your mic too. i feel like such a moocher ... i mean, i AM a moocher when it comes to food, cell phones, rides home, but mics? good job kelly anne, my sister loved you.

esther, shannon, and sammy (woodstock, harriet, olivier) - good energy today too. my little brother and sister said you guys were like real birds (at least they knew you were birds and not tourists). nice harmony on glee club as well.

also thanks to cathy for getting my props, nikki and misty for being awesome stage people, matt and lauren for putting up with my mic problems, and jean for running across the gym (i saw your flip flops on the gym floor) just to switch mics for me.

see? that wasn't exactly like dan's. i talked to them instead of about them!

well we're going to kick some ass tomorrow. if you're reading this before two o'clock on sunday, get your lazy ass off of the computer chair and go watch the show!

04.30.04

ahhh! today's show was sooo great! good energy, no mess ups, fantastic audience, no stress at all. plus we were being filmed, which was great too. i want all shows to be like tonight's was, if not better. soooo many people came today, and there will be more tomorrow.

05.01.04
ah shiet. turns out yesterday that they didn't film the whole thing. so pissed off. that show was good too. well the guy says he's gonna film tomorrow for free. pshaw whatever. if we do crappy tomorrow i'm gonna be soooo pissed.

holy what hella drama today. i mean drama drama, not performing drama. people were yelling, getting pissed, crying ... i'm not at liberty to say why, but i felt kinda bad because i was unaffected by all the poop that was going on around me. like, i'm sitting there all happy-go-lucky while other people were getting teary eyed. bianca says i have a staring problem. she says i stare at people who cry too much. whatever.

well the show turned out okay, some people thought it was better than yesterday's, but i think the mics were being crappy again so in my opinion yesterday's show was still the best. plus my singing today was total crap, i'm starting to lose my voice. and my kite flew into the pit and hit alex. whoops.

then there was a cast party at sammy's house. no spin the bottle this time () but it was still fun. foosball was crazy (sorry for screaming into your ear esther) and karaoke was interesting. now i have "the sign" by ace of base stuck in my head.

i saw the sign, and it opened up my eyes, i saw the sign ...

dan was so right. i'm going to be singing that shiznat tomorrow y0. all day. nonstop. because that song is so catchy, and it reminds me of "full house".

05.02.04

oh. my god.

i thought yesterday was bad. today was chock full of emotional distress. i mean, it's bad enough that it's the last show for a lot of the seniors (which is emotional as it is), but to have traditions taken away, people getting yelled at because in 1986 their asses were being wiped while others were playing in the pit and upholding a "tradition of excellence" (isn't that the slogan for a tortilla company or something?), people getting kicked off of the production on the last night, other crew members walking out ... ho-ly-fuck. it was sooo hectic. with crew members gone, the remainder of the crew and cast had to think up a solution quick before the house opened.

amazingly, we pulled it off. sure there was a lack of manpower, sure there was a LOT of tension among everyone, sure there were tears, but holy shit, we pulled it off. i have to say, that had to be the best show we've done. honestly. all that bullpoopie brought everyone together and we were determined to make it happen for the audience. i mean, without the drama, this would have been a great performance. but considering the circumstances, we were phenomenal.

wow. this is an experience i am going to remember for the rest of my life. or until alzheimers kicks in.
