Well, school starts up again tomorrow. I guess I'm ready. Enough.
I've got most of my textbooks: of the five classes I'm taking, two don't require books, which is nice: less to buy. I was able to buy the book for my programming class from a friend who took it last semester. The book for my "interpersonal communication" class I was able to get from the library. I'm still waiting for the book for my intro to flash class to come in from the library. I may have to buy that one. ha
bleh
I really like a lot of the music I hear on fellow nutanger's blogs. i/e
TCM,
GotMilk, and
unisaurus (unicornasaurus, shortened.) Just to name a few.
And, just for kicks, here's a couple CDs I've been listening to over and over again:

Santagold - Santagold

My Morning Jacket - Evil Urges
Good stuff.
Listen for yourselves.

Go see
Australia.
Why?
Two words:
Hugh Jackman

And that's not even the half of it. You have to see the movie to really see how buff he is. I swear he looks like he came right off the cover of a romance novel. Especially in this one scene where he's washing himself off. But you should see it yourself if you really want to know.
I don't know when it'll be coming out on DVD, but I know I'd like to get myself a copy. The aboriginal witch doctor was my favorite character. =)
GO SEE IT!!!
I want to go horseback riding on the Outback, now...

Did everyone have a good Christmas?
Mine was pretty good. I asked for money, and that's what I got. Along with a Darth Vader mug and
The Devil Wears Prada DVD.

And this weekend, I MADE a planner.

Front

Inside Front

Some pages that I cut and printed myself

Tabbed page and a "notes" page

The back!
I used scrapbooking paper for the pretty outside, cut-out pieces of a file folder to stiffen the cover pages, and an old spiral from a used-up notebook. I punched all the little holes myself.
My, I feel so crafty!

SO! News...
Had my last final on Friday. Got all my papers and things typed up, printed and ready to go. I think I did pretty well. I won't know 'til grades are emailed out Wednesday morning. (My school is very email-y: almost no paper notices ever, unless it's a form you need to fill out for something.)
Saturday I worked in the morning 'til about noon thirty. After that I took my kid sibs over to my brother and sister-in-law's new house to help 'em move. Mostly we helped pack the remaining stuff at their apartment into the U-Haul and bring it all into their house.
Later that afternoon I went home to get ready for my work Christmas party. It was at a local bar & grill. Pretty much you just show up and order something if you want (if you wanted to pay for it. ha.) After a while those who brought things to exchange started the ornament exchange, white elephant and cookie exchange (only one person brought cookies.) I was going to bring an ornament, but ended up running out of time to wrap it up before I had to leave. Oh wells.
Sunday night at my church was the children's choir Christmas Play (entitled
A Lamb's Story, or something.) The frightening snow/sleet/horriblethings storm that was headed its way toward us was supposed to hit right before the play was to end. And it did.
It was just snowing when we got out, so it wasn't TOO bad, except at the parts where it was slick and slushy. Because of the crappy state of my breaks, my dad followed me home in the minivan to make sure I got home okay. I'd have had them looked at sooner, but I haven't had the financial resources to do so. :[
On the way home, my car was overheating. The thermometer in the dash was pointed firmly at the red H. If I was stopped enough, i/e at a stoplight, smoke/steam/whateveritwas would come out from under the hood. A few yards after getting to my street, it stopped. I had to sit and let it cool off enough for it to even think about starting up again. And then it stopped again two blocks down. After the second time of cooling off and going again, I made it up into my driveway. I haven't attempted running it since.
It was very nerve-wrecking. (I wouldn't say scary, 'cause I wasn't really scared. My dad was following me behind in the minivan. I was just super nervous it might decide to explode with me and my sis in it, or something. Scary.)
I have to go to work tomorrow....
But I got tonight night off from work because my family had the opportunity to see Neil Diamond for free. Something happened, and we weren't able to get the tickets. Don't know all the details.
So I didn't need the night off in the end.
That's probably better, with my car and all.
Also, our furnace stopped working Thursday. I was getting ready to go to work at about 9:45a when our carbon monoxide detector went off. My mom called the fire department, and when they came the CO reading was about 50 (I don't know what unit of measurement it was.)
So we all sat in my car while they fanned out our house. An energy guy came in and looked at our heaters and came up to tell us it was our furnace that'd busted.
All this made me about 35 minutes late for work.
(I called my supervisor and let her know what was going on. I haven't heard anything about it so it must be alright.)
When my dad came home from work, my parents went to Wal-Mart and bought a space heater and an electric blanket for each of us.
Though we now have our new furnace installed and running (as of this morning), I think I'm going to still use my e-blanket. It's nice and toasty. ^_^
Aaaaaaaaaand that's pretty much it.
I'm on winter break! :D
And we just got our copy of Stardust back. And I mean
just got it back - she just dropped it off as I was typing this entry. So now, I'm going to go watch it.
Yay!
