self doubt is bad, makes you think stupid things and become too self conscious.

another awesome weekend
Tuesday, March 17, 2009
headed to turin for a weekend ski trip organised by eseg. The site we went was Bardonecchia, where they hosted the 2006 winter olympics. I think to date, one of the best trips yet for me.

For some reason unknown to us, Italy doesn't rent out ski attire, only the equipment, much to our disappointment as we had expected them to rent it just like other ski places. And so, i had to fork out an additional 69 euros get get a pair or pants and gloves. It was really funny because we were desperately trying on kid sized gloves so that we could save money, oh wells :)

we had a nice apartment which came with a nice kitchen so everyday we had home cooked meals - noodles on the first day, mushroom risotto on the second, and jap curry on the third. needless to say, every night we chilled and had drinks together, and tried going clubbing on the second night.

allora, back to the skiing part.. decided to try snowboarding as i've already tried skiing in korea last time, and many of my friends wanted to do that as well. first two days were tough! even though we were on the baby slopes, we kept falling down and pretty soon our asses and tailbones were sore. interesting thing to note here was that i got to sit in a police car for the first time in my life haha, that was because my friend collided with someone else and i wrote a statement as a witness (pretty dramatic)..

on the third and last day, our boarding instructor (the awesome sean) told us we were ready and we hit the easy slopes. some parts were pretty steep but it turned out ok as we went slowly. I have to point out that the kids are really good, could see 7 year olds zipping past us while we were being slowpokes. For me, the best experience was looking at the beautiful mountain scenery in front of me before dropping into an almost vertical drop, and that when we had to negotiate a right turn without falling off the mountain slope. Can't help but feel that there's so much more in life that i want to do and experience and a little sad that i may not have a chance to do it all as well. If i was immortal, i may accomplish that, but would i still enjoy and cherish it as much? i don't know. watch benjamin button, not because of brad pitt (ok partly), but it does have a pretty strong message (though i thikn it's kinda like a cross between big fish and forest gump).

stop burying your heads into the books, and start living life. i met so many people that are so smart when it comes to studies but still so lacking in others. If I lie on the brink of death many years later, i want to be able to remember all the beautiful experiences and memories that i have went through, and fisher's equation would certainly not be part of it..

cheers :)

and i thought they were just joking

but it turns out they were pretty serious about getting me drunk. Which was really bad because they started mixing my drinks from the moment i got there. Dinner was great though, loved the korean bbq meats but unfortunately didn't keep it in my system long enough. I think i spent the better part of the night camped in front of the toilet bowl which wasn't the best of experiences haha. But oh well, that's one more thing of to-dos off my list before i die (get drunk at least once).

school's heating up, i don't understand what my finance lecturers are talking about, thankfully my fashion one seems really interesting. I'm learning so much about the industry that i thought was frivolous a year ago, now i wouldn't mind working in one of the companies!
