for those of you who have no idea who she is, she's one of singapore's older actresses who's also part of director/ comedian jack neo's team, the j-team. she's frequently seen in many of his productions including the most recent one.
wa, zai lei, ah ma also join the blogosphere sia...really kudos to her at her age..still can do such a thing...and although its a simple site, its pretty well done, not to mention her ang moh also quite gd, better than some blogs by younger ppl tt i have come across..hah.
went on a round island trip with long in his car this afternn. reason: we hor-lan-ded..we had intended to go to upper paya lebar to zhng his car..but we ended up gg all ard singapore literally from one end of the island to the other end and back to our starting pt..
i think both of us are truly fucking directional idiots..because even though we had the street directory in our hands, we fucking missed all the exits tt we were supposed to take; according to the guy at the car zhng-ing place, we were supposed to take the cte..and from there exit to pie then to upp paya lebar..very fast, at most half hr trip.
however, due to reasons unfathomable to both of us, after the cte, we somehow ended up on the tpe instead..all the way to the changi coast, on to the ecp, den back onto the cte, into marina area, den pie again..up to aye...all the way from the north to the east den to the west..where we finally decided to stop at clementi ave 1 to have a smoke break and consult the street directory properly or call ppl who know how to navigate..nb...
since i could not make head or tails of where we were supposed to go from clementi..i called lao da..and he told me to go towards clementi central where there would be an exit towards the pie and from there we could go to paya lebar liao..
with these directions, we proceeded on again..got onto the pie after clementi ave 6..only to hor lan again..this time into upper bt timah, den on to gombak, where we actually passed mindef, towards sheng shiong supermarket somewhere in choa chu kang, all the while wondering how the fuck we were supposed to get out of this mess.
finally, we saw some sign that pointed us towards mandai, and we decided to head back to yishun, break and get our act together before setting off again..luckily, as we followed the mandai road, we came by mandai hill camp, which was a familiar landmark to both of us..and from there, it was easy gg all the way back to yishun.
back at yishun, 2 hrs from when we first set off, we sat down at one of our regular kopitiam hang outs to discuss our next plan of action; long also had lunch while i had tea only since i couldn't eat anything solid due to the wisdom tooth op i just had not long ago... decided to call my father and ask him for directions..which he swiftly explained to me in simple terms tt even a directional idiot like me could follow and trace out on the street directory i had with me.
lunch break over, we set off again.. this time following my father's directions and religiously tracing out the route on the street directory along our way. so..from yishun, to lentor highway, all the way to yio chu kang mrt, pass there, left turn, follow the tracks up to ang mo kio ave 1, left turn again to boundary rd, and from there, straight all the way to upper paya lebar, our destination.
finally! we were there! after hor lan-ing the whole afternn, we were finally at the car zhng-ing place! and the journey took us just abt half and hr only..hooo!
damn, shldn't have listened to the guy on the phone but instead called and asked my father earlier on..otherwise we wouldn't have gotten into such a mess.
from today's misadventure, i think i have learnt tt i am truly a directional idiot, since i cant make head or tails of the roads in singapore...and every exit on every highway or expressway looks the same to me.. haiz, must really go and study the street directory in my spare time liao..
previously, i wrote abt having my wisdom tooth op at ah ytd morning. this is a continuation from it and sort of an ordeal i went through back at home.
after i got home, everything was still quite normal, i took my medicine and just slacked ard the house, changing the gauze every half hr as i was advised to do so for the inital 6 hrs after the op. since i couldn't eat any solid food, i was confined to drinking stuff like milk or yoghurt. i had a short nap and woke up in the afternn to find tt the bleeding had lessened slightly, as in, the gauze was nt entirely soaked and clotted with blood.
fast forward to 3 hrs later when i had just finished watching stuff i downloaded..the bleeding had steadily lessened all this while and feeling hungry, i went down to the kopitiam to get a packet of milo peng and also to ntuc to stock up on milk and soft foods like yoghurt and pudding for the next two days. while i was paying for my purchases, i started feeling a strong metallic taste in mouth, and also like my mouth was being flooded like tt...
once out of ntuc and on the way home, the feeling got ever stronger and i stopped to spit out the gauze..to my surprise, it came out all bloody like when i had just finished the op, along with a huge mouthful of blood. i quickly made my way home, dribbling blood from my mouth along the way and leaving some sort of a bloody trail all the way to the lift. to the unknowning passerby, it must have looked like i had been in a fight and got badly injured or what. damn.
upon reaching home, i immediately stuffed a new piece of gauze in, and it was soaked in abt a minute and i again had the metallic taste and flooded feeling. at first i didn't care and just went abt my own stuff..but it got to pt tt i was feeling damn weird since the metallic taste and the flooding just would not go away, so i went to change the gauze again, and this was just abt 5-10 minutes since i last changed it..
nt surprisingly, it was soaked and clotted with coagulated blood even..and for the next 10 minutes or so, i continually changed the gauze every minute, gg through abt 10 pieces of gauze in tt short period of time. and all this while i was still dribbling and spitting out excess blood into the sink. and when i looked into the mirror, i could actually see the blood flowing out and flooding my mouth the moment i took out the gauze.
this went on for another 15 minutes or so, and i thought tt its quite weird, so i called edmund and asked him if it was normal since he had had the wisdom tooth op before. he said he would come up and take a look, and when he arrived, i was still gg through pieces of gauze like nobody's business. it was quite scary i thought, as the entire sink had been filled up with both coagulated and fresh blood along with bloodied water i had gargled with to try to wash the blood away.
edmund told me to stop gargling as this would only aggravate the wound cavity and to apply firm pressure on the gauze to stop the bleeding. it didn't work, and after gg through another 5 pieces of gauze or so in just as many minutes, we called ah..or rather, edmund did, since i couldn't talk with my mouth full of blood. the dental staff there told me to keep trying with the gauze, and they would call back in abt 20 minutes to check on me..and of course there was no improvement at all by the time they called back, so i was told to go back to ah..before we left, we took this picture to commemorate the ordeal.
bloody isn't it? haha..
on the way to ah inside the cab, i continued dribbling out blood into a plastic bag i brought along every minute or so, even spitting out a loose piece of gum tissue. it steadily accumulated to the point when i reached ah, there was quite alot la..and edmund kept asking me if i felt faint since i had been losing blood for the last 1 half hrs. by the time we reached ah, there was this much:
woah..
well, i was put onto the dentist's bench and operated on for the second time tt day, and they stitched me up yet again..even applying medication to stop the bleeding and using a suction tube to suck up all the blood that kept flowing out during the op. too bad i don't have a picture of tt.
and the cause of the excess and persistent bleeding? regrettably, i cant really explain it, as it was told to me in chim medical terms that sounded like greek..only the words: bone, blood and vessels sounded english..hah.
i was made to stay for another half hr of observation before they deemed me ok to be discharged. got home, went abt my business, took the medication and was happy to find tt the bleeding had steadily decreased, stopping completely this morning.
had my wisdom tooth op ytd morning at alexandra hospital, and it was quite an experience, i'll say.
the operation itself was quite fast actually, and nth too scary abt it..except for the fact tt i could actually hear the sounds of the operation ongoing ard me when they did it, because i was under local anesthetic, in which i got jab multiple times all over the inside of my mouth and gums to ensure the effectiveness.
i was removing my lower and upper left wisdom tooth, and when they started with the lower one, i could actually hear the whining of the drill bit and feel the vibration of the drill gg into the core of my teeth and also the sounds of the drilling; even though there was no pain at all. i closed my eyes and tried to go to slp but somehow i just stayed awake throughout the entire op.
when they were done with the lower one, i heard the dental surgeon saying she was gg to use alot of force to remove the upper one, and i was like ok.. next thing i knew, there was a plier of sorts clamped to the upper tooth and alot of force applied to just pull it clean out of the socket. of course, i could also hear the creak-crack sounds of the tooth separating from the gum and the tearing of the gum tissue. quite digusting, i thought.
next came the stitching up and i could again hear and feel the pulling of the thread or whatever it was they used but no pain at all. finally, i was done. a piece of cotton gauze was stuffed into my mouth and i was presented with my souvenir of the 2 wisdom teeth tt i had removed.
looks like 3 instead of 2 teeth because the ones below are actually the 2 halves of the lower tooth that they drilled into to extract.
i was released into the observation room to sit and be observed for any complications whatsoever for the next half hr and also briefed on what i should do, not do to prevent any serious complications after i went home. and basically, i couldn't eat or drink anything at extreme temperatures, both hot and cold, or anything tt requires vigorous action of the mouth, i.e. chewing. i was also advised to swallow my saliva at all times and not to spit as this would aggravate the wound..no smoking or consuming of any booze for the next 2 weeks also. sian.
with tt, i was given my 6 days of mc (whoo hoo!) and fixed an appointment for removal of stitches next week and released to the pharmacy with my prescription.
since i got the entire week off during the cny week, i've been damn bored; for the past 2 days, all i've done is eat, slp, watch anime, and read whatever i can get my hands on.
and just now, while i was gg thru some stuff in my room, i came upon a journal of some sort tt i had kept while i was hospitalised for dengue during my first bmt back in 2005.
whoa, talk abt memories..
while flipping through it, i mused upon stuff i wrote inside there and some of it seemed rather funny, hah..others quite mundane..and it led to thoughts abt my siong trg back in cdo, and of my over zealous mentality back then..
and i thought, wow..damn fast neh..suddenly, im left with two months to ord, and im even gg to some e-prep career road show for ord personnel held at maju camp tmr morning.
and so, another cny has passed. alrite, although its only been 3 days, i would think its quite enough liao, since i done all my pai nian and stuff on the very first day. i shld think tt the traditional 15 days of cny celebration would only apply in big countries like china where ppl have to spend long hrs travelling and visiting relatives from everywhere, hah.
anyway, its still the same this year, as in i dont feel the mood at all, nt even gg to chinatown to walk ard on the eve changed anything. used to be, i would feel more in the mood after gg to chinatown. mayb its army, i've started feeling damn sian with every festive season since i enlisted. nair mind.
anyway, to end off, here's a totally unrelated video we took last week when we went out to ktv. have a gd laugh.
guy in the centre wearing white with all the energetic moves is nicholas, aka the dancer.
checkered shirt guy in the back looking half gone is timothy, aka tiko
guy holding the mike is mark kor, aka qiu shin
