| school, it's getting closer. Tuesday. 8.21.07 7:55 pm LET'S GO MOUNTAINEERS!!!
West Virginia University was ranked as the number one "party school" in the nation. After some strict enforcement of laws, the school dropped to number three on the list. On the Today Show this morning it was announced that WVU is once again the number one party school in the nation. Way to go, Mountaineers. The scary part is that I will be going to that school next year. Woohoo for me, right?
"West Virginia University. Where knowledge is learned and couches are burned."
But, speaking of school, it already sucks and our school year hasn't even started yet. I'm still doing work from last year that I've been putting off. Now, it all has to be done by next week. It doesn't bother me, I always put things off until the last minute, but it just makes me think that this is the last week of summer, and I'm spending it doing history papers and forensics junk.
The good thing is that along with the beginning of school comes football season. That's the part that my friends and I look forward to the most, even though our team pretty much sucks and is lucky to win a game or two. Last year, I think we won a total of two games, one home and one away. So we weren't ranked last in the state, just next to last. That doesn't even matter though, not to me and the gang of regulars in the student section at the games. We have a blast no matter what score is. We light popcorn on fire, pick up pennies that are thrown at us and throw 'em back at the idiot underclassmen at the top of the bleachers that think their so freakin awesome 'cause they hit people with pennies, and when it gets to the point where it's snowing, the people with lighters light them and we huddle around for warmth. Of course, that doesn't really do a lot to help with how cold we are, but we have fun doing stupid little things like that.
The part about school that I [and probably everyone else] am dreading the most is the classes. At least my senior year will be pretty easy. I used to take all honors classes, but this year I'm not. Just two college level courses [political science and music appreciation], and the rest are all regular classes. One teacher told me that was a "wimpy" senior schedule, but that's fine with me. I'd rather take it easy this year than stress myself out over classes that I don't really need. Like AP Chemistry. bleh. Or AP Calculus. double bleh. For the major that I'm interested in, which is Criminology, I don't need those kind of classes, so why go through all the pain of taking them if I'm never going to use them? That's the point I tried to get across to my 'cluster' teacher but did she listen? Not at all. Grr. That woman makes me so mad. Thank God I don't have her for a class this year.
My classes this year include: Earth Environmental Science, English 12, Psychology, Jazz Band, Music Appreciation, and Political Science. That, and I get to be a teacher's aid and grade papers and all that jazz, but I'm not complaining. Compared to some schedules I've had in the past, that one is cake. I supposedly have my schedule all set up and everything, but our school is notorious for screwing up schedules. Freshman year wasn't too bad for me, but sophomore and junior, I've been sitting in the hallway for hours trying to get the stupid thing how it's supposed to be. It's a traumatizing experience, one that you pray to God that you don't have to go through again, but somehow you always end up sitting right back in that hallway the next year, or even the next semester.
A friend of mine just IMed me and said that they have her in psychology twice, Algebra 2, which she has already taken, and life fitness that she did not sign up for. Our school is just freaking wonderful like that. I know that no one is perfect and that it is mostly the computers that are messing up the scheduling, but it's just so stressful on us when we have to be the ones to deal with it and try to fix it. The snotty attitudes that the people in the offices get with us students doesn't do much to help things, either. They act like we're a bother, like we're just complaining for no good reason. It's all just so aggravating and it makes me dread going back to school even more knowing that is what awaits me. That, and I have no idea if my schedule will be in the senior line of the junior line, seeing as I technically haven't finished junior year yet, but I had enough credits when I stopped going to school to be counted as a senior anyway. It's a big mess... One that I am not looking forward to, but I doubt anyone really is.
Well, now I better get back to working on my history. At the moment, I am reading something about Nixon and the Watergate Scandal. Fascinating stuff right there...
[oh yeah, I've added a mod for some special links. at the moment, there is only one link but you should totally clicketh upon it and check out Tube Talk, a blog about all the nifty TV shows that I don't really watch, but everyone seems to be watching these days...] Comment! (1) | Recommend! Tuesday. 8.21.07 12:36 am I'm a fan of music, and therefore, I like musicals. Not all of them, but some of them. Like Grease. That is a great movie and I love it to death. Ask my mother who had to sit in the car with me every morning going to school and listen to "You're The One That I Want." I've also watched Grease 2 [not nearly as good as the first, in my opinion], Chicago, and High School Musical. Yes, say what you will, but I can watch the Disney Channel movie over and over again and not get tired of it. I was excited to see that they were making a second one, and I've been waiting for its premiere all month.
The first Friday that it was on, I wasn't able to see it because the Disney Channel wasn't coming on our TV. I thought it was just due to some storms passing through our area, but when it wasn't working on Saturday night, either, I realized that wasn't the case. Seems there's something wrong with my box in my room, so I decided to watch it out in the living room on Sunday night. Sunday, our electric went out about a half hour into it, but it came back in time for me to catch it on Disney 2.
That was the longest hour + [or however long the movie is] I've spent in front of the TV. I would just like to know what those people were thinking. I really enjoyed the first movie, but the second...it was just painful to watch. The story was good, but the way it was filmed bothered me, and it was just so cheesy. No doubt that the choreography was good, as were the songs, but it just wasn't as good as the first and to me, it was a major disappointment.
So basically, in my opinion, the second High School Musical sucks out loud. But, then again, most sequels do. Comment! (0) | Recommend! Sunday. 8.19.07 6:52 pm Today was my cousin's second birthday party. It was a nice little family get together sort of thing. Except for the part where there were little kids running around everywhere. Don't get me wrong, I love my cousin, but I really, REALLY, don't like small children at all. I mean, there are a few exceptions, like Dominic, the coolest little kid ever [in my opinion], but in general, I just don't like kids. I don't know what it is about them. Probably the fact that they are small and for the most part spoiled and cry if one little thing doesn't go their way. I know, I was one of them too, but if I was half as bad as some of these kids were I don't know how my family put up with me.
My favorite part of the whole outing was when one of the little kids started bawling because he fell down, and his dad just looks at him was like, "You're alive. You're not bleeding. Stop crying." haha. That's exactly what I wanted to say.
I really don't know why I don't like children, but imagine someone with my dislike for them in a parent/child development class. I hated it, but even I would have to admit that it was pretty funny for someone else to look at. I got put into that class sophomore year because I had nothing else to take. It was like torture in the beginning because you have to pay attention and be good until you see what you can get away with. By the end of that class, I was loving it. Certainly not because of the subject, but because we could pop bags of popcorn and leave early and sleep without a word being said to us about it.
Recently, I've been having to go to the hospital a lot because of some medical issues. I'm not yet old enough to see the doctors for the adults, so they stuck me in the pediactrics part. Little kids EVERYWHERE. It usually isn't too bad, but the first time I had to go there, it was absolutely horrible. The nurse stuck my mother and I back in this little room, and then just left us there for almost a hour. There were children and babies crying and screaming, and I just looked at my mom and said, "You hear that? That's what my nightmares sound like."
Now you have read an entire post that lets you know how I feel about children. The post wasn't really supposed to be all about that, but that's where the rant took me this time around. Comment! (5) | Recommend! Saturday. 8.18.07 11:50 pm mood: frustrated && sleepy
My first entry was a lacking and rushed and pointless. Really, I justed wanted to get a post on this thing so I would know how the blog looked once I got done with all my alterations to the original template. It worked, and I think I finally got it how I want it to be. For the most part, at least. I like how the music player turned out, but I am having some issues adding other mods. Oh well, I'll figure it out eventually, and if I don't, well...I don't. I'm not computer illiterate to the point where I can't figure it out. It's just that I lack the patience to do so a lot of the time.
It's the 19th of August already. The summer is gone, and school is about to start. Wonderful, right? I know we're all looking forward to that. Yeah... Though I hate to think about going back, I am kind of looking forward to it. Senior year, baby! I just got to finish up all my work from last year first. I've kind of been putting it off all summer. That means that I have a whole week to do it before school starts again. Great, right?
I would also like to thank those of you that commented on my first post. It's alway nice to feel welcomed into a new online community like this.
Well, with another pointless post having been typed, I think it is time to get off of here and give this keyboard a rest. Later all. [= Comment! (2) | Recommend! Saturday. 8.18.07 6:24 pm So, while I have been trying to set up the blog and all that good stuff, I've also been looking around on YouTube, and I found this nifty video.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5d27LN9-y7s
It's Linkin Park's What I've Done with some clips from Spider-Man 3. I really like it because I love the Spider-Man movies, and What I've Done is one of my favorite songs at the moment. If you have similar taste and have a computer that won't die on you if you try and load it, I recommend you watch it.
Still figuring this site out. Will post again later or add or whatever. Comment! (2) | Recommend! |
