FREEDOM!
Wednesday. 4.7.10 6:18 pm
Okay, so I went to the eyeglasses place to get new contacts, right? Figured out that my old contacts have 1. not expired and 2. can stay in my eyes (at night, too) for up to two weeks! BOYA! That's easier than my retainer! No more keeping track of a million things, no more trying to find glasses every time I have to drive, just pop and go!

So, now I am enjoy my new found good eyesight by detroying it again from behind a computer screen... \/\/007.

New Story Bit
Monday. 9.28.09 9:08 pm
If it's any good, leave a note:

I knew it was the turn for the worse when I saw the gusty gails flowing in from the east side. The gathering dark fell out of the storm and started to pull the stars inside of it, eating and splitting them until their light no longer shone and all was consumed in black. I could not believe my own eyes. What horror had life given me? What strange night had plunged me into darkness.
Just then, the pan pipes whistled their quiet melody and I was back with Jacobim on the shore.
Sarah, he asked, Where were you going?
His golden hair was tinged in the soft glow that filtered through the forested canopy. The canopy was thick and haloed the grove in a perfumed fog of pollen and fallen leaves. I stirred the floor a little with my hand and sent centipedes skittering off.
I looked up at his briefly, holding my head in dismay, Im sorry. Was I sleeping.
He smiled obliquely and looked over at the setting sun, I was worried that I was losing you there. What would provoke you to go to the edge like that?
I thought of this a moment, propping my head on my knees. So that had not been a dream. Now, the weight of the years seemed to fall on me like a cloud. I remembered that day, the day that I left. It was not much different than the one that I was in now.
The ship had been chartered from a pirate in the keys. Lo-Loth Macraba, they called him. He was a boorish man with a long snout and tusks for teeth. He was half human, half Undazi. I was going to sail to the edge of the world, I remembered. I remembered something else as well.
You left me, I said.
Jacobim looked in on me with curiosity.
Left you? Surely not. I was here when you left, calling after you, he said.
No, for Julia. You left me, I said, Why?
Jacobim adjusted uncomfortably and then turned to me, I think I asked for your story first.
We were in this grove, I began, This once just beside that oak tree.

It was a little after noon and I was lying in the grass staring up at the clouds overhead. A flock of sheep were gathered nearby, but I was not watching them. Jacobim and I had been becoming close ever since the beginning of that season. He chose me as his year partner and I he and things were going beautifully. I imagined that he would choose me again in this new year, it had taken so long for us to choose anyone to begin with, though I suppose it should have been foolish that I imagined that he would be my last and final season mate. I was sucking on the shaft of a piece of grass when across the moor I saw him, lying their, his arm laced around another nymph far prettier than I could imagine.
That was when I left.

My roof
Friday. 8.28.09 11:51 am
I'm looking through the pixelated surface of my screened off window. The screen can be taken off. My friend showed it to me and we both climbed out on the roof to bask briefly in the morning sunlight. It was an odd feeling, to see and be seen from the roof of my building. I climbed back inside and vowed to wait for the night.

Unseen by Mari Jungstedt and a beginning to loving swedish crime fiction
Thursday. 8.13.09 7:52 pm
So, I read this book... Unseen. Fascinating book. I would recommend it... whole-heartedly. I think what is amazing about this book is just how thoughtfully it is put together. It is divided out by days instead of chapters. Within each chapter, you are allowed insight into the musing of the chief of the police, a crime journalist, one of the victims best friends, victims and, in italics, non-date specifics about the thoughts from the viewpoint of the killer. Within this construction, the author takes a lot of time weaving all of the stories together, telling you about who these people are, who are the important people in their lives and what they think about the people around them. It brings them to life in a very subtle emotional way, different from American or even English novels which focus more of sensational imagery. I am not saying that there is no imagery, I'm saying that the emotional content takes centerstage, just behind a very classic and engaging mystery plotline.

Right now, I have half a mind to steal it. The structural strategies and deft methods of description lie would fit in almost any novel, but particularily with this strange supernatural monstrosity that I created almost two years ago during NANOWRIMO.

That aside, however, I think I am going to recommend it highly on a regular basis from here on out as well as sneaking into the library to get me some more of these little gems from the country to Sweden.

Job = Good boyfriend?
Thursday. 7.16.09 3:54 pm
Isnt it funny? The qualities that make up the ideal employee are also those minimum requirements for a good boyfriend. Allow me to demonstrate.

The ideal boyfriend would:

Not have committed any fraud or felony
Not drink excessively, smoke, or take drugs
Would dress and act appropriate to the situation
Would be reliable and loyal
Would be hard working
Would show up to appointments on time and prepared

Additionally, if he was a higher level employee, he would:

Good with people
Intelligent and creative
Proactive in asking for what he wants

Therefore, I am beginning to hypothesize that the age old question: So do you have a Job might have a little bit more to it than just our animal instincts requiring us to find an ideal mate to provide for us. So there you have it, do you?
