Cool Stuff

Free For All Saturday
Saturday. 9.23.06 10:38 am
Funerals suck.

I’m in working on Saturday because I need to get caught up on some stuff. I attended a funeral for a close family friend earlier in the week and put me a day behind at work. I hate funerals.

I really wanted to kick the blog’s new format off right in the first week, but because of everything that went down I didn’t get too. I’ll try to catch up next week.

Thanks for understanding.

Random blurbs:

Yes! A new episode of the Monday Night War is out.

I hope my internet connection stay up all weekend.

John Cena on Smackdown! next week – Who cares?

Aerosmith and Motley Crue still rock!

I really hated missing Thong Club Thursday this week.

I f***ed up a guys laptop bad this week.

My office is a mess.

I wanted to get the new Starbury shoes at Steve and Barry’s, but they were too tight.

Rehab finally announces a tour date for Pittsburgh and it’s Monday in 2 weeks. I don’t think I can swing it. I should just move to Pittsburgh that way I can catch Rehab and Hallowicked in the same month. It really starting to suck being a WV Juggalo.

Cross your fingers that next week is better than this.

Sorry, no new pics today. Look for some fresh links on Monday. Until then hit up YouTube for my new theme song:

This Guy Rocks

The Monday Night War And Funny Pick
Tuesday. 9.19.06 4:02 pm
It’s Tuesday so you probably expect my run down of Raw last night. Or maybe you were waiting on my analysis of Sunday’s Pay Per View Unforgiven. Well since I am extremely unhappy with the current state of the WWE right now, I’m not going to waste my time writing about it. It would just be my long-winded stories about bad booking decisions and story lines that are screwed up. It won’t change anything.

Instead I want to write about what happened 10 years ago. That’s right, what went on this month in 1996. You see, thanks to WWE 24/7 On-Demand and the magic of illegal internet downloads over the past couple months I’ve been watching The Monday Night War. It’s basically just replays of Raw and Nitro from ten years ago. Back when all was good.

Recently I read an interview with former WWE announcer Kevin Kelly. In this interview he said something to the effect of (and I’m paraphrasing here), “A lot of younger fans consider the golden age of wrestling 1997 through 1999,” on which Mr. Kelly disagreed. And I disagreed for a split second as well. But after watching classic episodes of Nitro and Raw from 1996 I started to get that old feeling back. I feeling I had when I lived for Monday nights. I watched on Monday and wrote about the anticipation the rest of the week on my internet website.

You see, I started watching wrestling in the early 1990’s. I knew some about it from the 1980’s, but I didn’t really follow it then. Anything that happened before then I either read about in the slanted view of PWI or on the internet. I watched classic wrestling tapes and seen the quality of the matches and storylines, not to mention the poor production quality back then. I have to ask Mr Kelly, when do you consider the golden age of wrestling? If it wasn’t during the era of the Monday Night War when was it? The production quality was high, the storylines were great, the quality of the matches reached new heights and rating and merchandise sales were the highest ever. I’m proud to say that I lived through the golden age of wrestling Kevin Kelly and yes, I respect the past and the way things used to be, but I also know when the product was at it’s best. It was during the Monday Night Wars.

While the WWE seems to lost their grip on great story telling, you can enjoy great wrestling action every month with the Monday Night War on WWE 24/7 On Demand. The started last September on the 10 year anniversary of the start of the Battle For Monday Night Supremacy. They show about 4 episodes a month and they only show the episodes that went head-to-head. They don’t show the Nitro episodes that aired while Raw was off the air for tennis and they don’t show the Raw episodes that aired while Nitro was breaking for the NBA playoffs. They also don’t show the specials that aired at other times, like USA Championship Friday or Thursday Raw Thursday Live, nor do they show the late night airing of either show. That makes for about 48 episodes a year.

In my mind this On Demand series are worth every penny. This is back when wrestling was at it’s best. I still get chills watching these episodes. Thank you WWE 24/7 for giving us something good to watch during a time when the main product of the WWE sucks.

Monday's Links And Pics Fixed (I hope)
Tuesday. 9.19.06 8:58 am
MS Word Sucks!

What a mess. My first day of posting the new format and I screw up the link. To make matters worse, as soon as I got the stuff posted my internet went down all day. I just got it back up 15 minutes ago and I’m re-posting everything now. I will try to do the Tuesday Wrestling Wrap-Up later. Please forgive me if I don’t get to it.

Thanks.

Change In Format and Funny Pic
Friday. 9.15.06 3:23 pm
I think I want to do things a little different here. I want to start next week. Here’s what the format will be like:

Mondays: Cool links. Like maybe a dozen, give or take. This will be to cool news articles, cools pics, cool vids. Anything I like and think is worth sharing. I’ll keep it as clean as possible, but the ones that are a little risque will be mark NSFW.

Tuesdays: Wrestling wrap up. If you don’t like wrestling, I do care because I do.

Wednesdays: My rants. What ever I want to brag or bitch about, Wednesday will be the day.

Thursdays: Thong Club Thursday. Hot pics of (non-nude) girls in thongs. If you don’t like that there’s something wrong with you.

Fridays: Free For All Friday. I just want to leave it open for anything I want to do this day.

Now, you all know I don’t have time to update everyday, so if I miss a day don’t cuss me out. Second I will most likely still do the Funny Pic Of The Day on all or most posts. Cross your fingers that this works and we don’t get kicked off of Nutang. See you Monday. Your FPD is below.

The Big Show As ECW Champ And Funny Pic
Thursday. 9.14.06 8:56 am
At first I didn’t like the idea of Big Show being ECW Champion. I knew that the belt had to come off of RVD because of his recent problems, but I could have picked a better person than The Big Show. You had Kurt Angle (though not anymore), plus former champs like The Sandman, Tommy Dreamer and Justin Credible. For Gawd’s sake bring back Terry Funk and put the title on him. Anyone, just not The Big Show.

I’ve not been too high on The Big Show the past few years. When he first came to WCW as The Giant he got a huge push. He won the WCW Championship his first match. Even after he lost it, he was still a major player. Then he came to the WWE.

That’s when it went downhill. It was like they suddenly forget how to push big men. This was the company known for creating giants and they didn’t know what to do with him. I’ve seen him job (lose) to everyone over the years. You name it, this 7 Foot 500 Pound man put them over. This is the main reason I didn’t like the Big Show as Champion.

It seems to me that Paul Heyman is a big fan of The Big Show. They had a nice run together on Smackdown and it seemed like a good idea to bring Show to ECW when the brand was (re)launched earlier this Summer. I liked what they were doing with him when Show would come out and throw Tommy Dreamer around like a rag doll and Dreamer would ask for more. I thought he could go somewhere with this gimmick and it was nice not seeing a 7 Foot Tall man lie flat on his back and losing. But it takes time to build a championship push. Maybe later on, but not now. Then RVD got in trouble and ECW needed a new champion quickly.

So a storyline emerges. Turn Heyman heel. Give Big Show the title. Heyman is similar to the Mr. McMahon character on the late 90’s. He pushes for the new ECW and is against the old ECW and it’s originals. Big Show gets put over more by the fact he’s the first man to hold the WCW, WWE and ECW Championships.

I'll admit, I didn’t like it at first. In fact I hated it. But after a month or so of watching it I’ve gotten used to it. I can see Big Show as champion. I enjoy the fact that after all these years that the WWE has finally found a use for the big man. He’s not just some top superstars whipping boy.

Of course there are a few things I don’t like about The Big Show’s current direction. I think Terry Taylor said it best. He said if he was booking a superstar the size of The Big Show any move he does would be his finisher. Show puts a guy in a headlock, Show is so big and so powerful the guy submits first thing. Then find a guy like Jim Carey that can pop his arm out of joint, Show puts this guy in an arm bar and it looks like Show ripped the poor guys arm off. That’s how I would get him over. Instead the booker of the new ECW want The Show to cheat to beat guys that are smaller than him. They want Show to have matches that are not under Extreme Rules, that way he can win or lose by disqualification and still keep the title. I never have liked this.

Anyway, to close out, I’m starting to like Big Show as champion. I hope he holds on to the title for a while. At least until the WWE gets smarts and brings ECW Original Chris Benoit back to ECW to defeat The Big Show.

Thanks for reading.
