"Unbutton your clothes, undress your soul, show them your vigor.." -Our Lady Peace

"It doesn't kill you, it's not a one-way ticket to a lonely life. It might break your heart, but the physical risk is low. You might feel so bad that you wanna die but if you died you would never know, that it didn't kill you. Soon you would've felt better." -Fastball
Pretending I'm a Cowboy
Sunday. 4.27.08 1:02 pm
I had an amazing breakfast this morning at my favorite vegetarian venue. "Cowboy Sandwich": Egg over-hard with lettuce, tomato, chipotle mayo (all on a biscuit), and a side of breakfast beans. It was fantabulous. Yes, fantabulous. I downed it with a cup of organic shade-grown coffee (with sugar -it didn't need it- and no cream). The coffee complemented it so well. I began wishing I was a cowboy, eating egg sandwiches with beans and coffee for breakfast (though I don't imagine cowboys do crosswords at the same time). I'm not a breakfast person, but this is a breakfast I like.

After all that awesomeness, I ran errands. Got my oil changed, bought some medicine, and then ran up to Roanoke/Salem to get the microphones I needed. Man, I feel productive.

More cowboy food, please?

My version of an update
Saturday. 4.26.08 8:24 pm
It's been over a month since Radioshack was cleaned out of the part I need. They still don't have it. The three closest stores don't have it. Best Buy doesn't carry those kind of parts. Now I have to go to Salem (30 mins away) to get it. At least they have it, but I wasted my day trying to find the part.

I have a sore throat. I don't know why.

5 days 'til final starts. Yikes!

My advice to all: Don't watch the movie BloodRayne. It's not worth it.

And for your amusement, since prices are jumping up:

Comfort
Wednesday. 4.23.08 9:55 am
I cannot wait for the semester to be over. I'm going to curl up in my fuzzy blanket for three days. No, it's not a 'blankie' from my childhood, but it's definitely a comfort zone. ...or at least somewhere between a comfort zone and a happy place.

Coffee is my other happy place. I have a favorite coffee shop, and sometimes -sometimes- I fall in love with the people who hang about here. I should make a disclaimer or something that I'm stereotyping these people, but I also think stereotyping has become a fact of life and that everyone does it whether they admit it or not, and whether they realize it or not.

I just spent an hour and a half reading papers on alternate energy. Alternate energy, like recycling makes me giddy. (I should find a way to do it as a profession.) The papers varied with respect to interesting topics, like how thermal energy was used as far back as 1904, and how in '70s companies did research on alt. energies but gave up, and the political ramifications of moving to alt. energies were something I didn't even think about.

I so want to stop studying and start reading more papers on alt. energies. Weird, huh?

I loathe mornings
Monday. 4.21.08 1:01 am
I hate waking up in the morning. Sure, I love sleeping. But I don't like going to bed, and worst of all I loathe mornings. I've never ever been a morning person. I'd get rid of mornings if I could.

A problem with morning-hating is that I can't ever get up anymore. I adjust to every ring my clock has. Sophomore year, I would climb off my bunk bed (by way of my desk), cross the room, turn off the clock, go back to my bed, climb back into bed(also by way of desk, not ladder) and fall back to sleep without remembering it.

If things ever get worse, though, I've got a backup plan:

Midday amusements
Sunday. 4.20.08 6:09 pm
First, there have been a lot comments about global warming on Nutang lately, so here's a mug to go with it:

In the same grain, 'Disappearing Civil Liberties'

...and then a DOS pillow! It's silly, though, that it costs $36.
