Monday. 2.19.07 3:17 pm As I’m sure many of you already know, Atlanta was DEAD this weekend, as everybody was in Las Vegas for the NBA All Stars.
Here are some pictures of various stars chillin at the Celebrity Pool Challenge, presented by Boost Mobile’s Zo and Magic Johnson. Check them out!
Big Boi doing his thing for charity!
Bow Wow still trying to self promote. Did you hear that Bow Wow just launched a brand new record label?

Ok, what is wrong with this picture? Other the groupie that tried to get up in this shot, you’ve got Lloyd chillin with former porn star boyfriend of Kim Kardashian—Ray-J posing right next to current Boyfriend of Kim’s Nick Cannon.
You see ladies, we men don’t have no problem sharing hoe’s!
Alonzo Mourning and JD were photographed chillin together. Damn JD is a little ass dude.
Ludacris is definitely giving back by being photographed with these two plastic surgery twins.

The response to last weeks post on Southern Rap History Month was overwhelming. I see you guys don’t hate EVERYTHING I do.
My selection for today’s Southern Rapper(s) who helped to put Atlanta on the map is Tag Team. For those who don’t know, or who might not be aware, Steven RollN and DC The Brain Surpreme scored a massive hit with their 1993 single "Whoomp! There It Is," which sold over four million copies, making it one of the best-selling singles of all time.
Arguably one of the most popular party rap/bass music duos of the early '90s, made the song's booming bass and endless chant of "Whoomp! There It Is" an instantly memorable and instantly popular dance/club track. The group also turned out slight variations on the song, "Addams Family (Whoomp)" and "Bulls There It Is," that year, along with a full-length album named after their first success.
Singles were Tag Team's specialty, and over the next two years the duo released plenty of them, including "Here It Is, Bam!" "Whoomp! There It Went," "U Go Girl," "Pig Power," and "Funkey Situation," which was the title cut from their 1995 album.
None of their efforts matched the success of "Whoomp! There It Is," however, their massive single was immortalized on countless party rap and jock jams compilations; after ultimately releasing a best-of album in early 2000.
While the location of the two founding members of Tag Team is unknown, they most certainly contributed to paving the way for Atlanta and the South to become the most popular city currently in music.
Yo I looked for a video EVERYWHERE and couldn’t find one on this group, what up with that?

The powers that be over at Smooth Magazine liked Dee Dee so much that they gave her two covers for the special ‘Live In Jamaica’ issue.
Here is the first set. I will post the rest of them tomorrow!

On February 25, 2007 -- 7pm in The Loft @ Center Stage (formerly Earthlink Live), join Fusion Magazine, Def Jam Records, 3:16 Media Group, CAJO International, The Cartel, Urban Gospel Alliance and DBS Sounds for a monthly performance showcase that offers incredible exposure for new and emerging artists. Dubbed Battleground, this event taps directly into Atlanta's exciting music arena, creates an excellent networking forum for “movers and shakers” on the rise, and provides direct access to A&R executives, radio programmers, promotions reps, deejays, retailers, music-buying consumers, and the media.
Each month they partner with a major record label, several indie labels and a savvy corporate sponsor looking to connect with the diversity of the hip-hop generation. Promoting a positive, alcohol-free environment,
BATTLEGROUND brings together a wide range of popular artists in the secular community and supports the growing movement of youth taking the Gospel beyond the streets!
Get out the house and check this event out,
