Manners
Tuesday, January 29, 2008
One thing i've realised, that as we progress more and more, we seem to lose our manners more and more as well.

I was at the public library this afternoon and its amazing how many people still choose not to silent their mobile phones when they enter. Not only that, i also suspect that they find it some sort of cheap thrill that they can get away with it by letting the ringtone go on so as to share with the public what marvelous taste in music they have.

Anyway, this behaviour shouldn't be new and it is also not just limited to the library. The courtesy campaign is still very much alive and i guess there's enough reason to carry on. As much as i would like to rattle on about the other lack of politeness or courtesy amongst our population, my guess is that everyone by now would have enough stories and experience. Thus i should just end off here by urging everyone to be more civil... please? oh well, at least just keep your ringtones to yourself in the library alright? Much appreciated =)

The best breakfast I had...
Tuesday. 1.1.08 7:52 am
.... occurred in the evening....

It was a night of cookout, decadence, and fellowship. Unfortunately, it may well be the last cookout, for quite a while at least!

It was the same place with almost all of the same people, and with more special guests this time with Boss, Andrew, Mia Wee, and Jerome. No holds barred alfresco dining right at the porch with the usual hot plate and large amount of food.

It all began with the magic powder...

followed by the appetizers which consists of olives, quail eggs, and raw shrooms

the special dessert treat for the night

the first dish, black chicken stuffed with liver that is served with green apple creme sauce (i made the sauce!)

followed by scrambled eggs and toast topped with lump fish caviar and moet chandon champagne

baked meat muffins

served and plated with some salsa

stirfried sukiyaki beef sushi style with peanut butter nutty sauce (i made this sauce too!haha)

searing the toufus

spicy toufu with sugary sweet sauce

cubed muttons on the pan

which kinda broke up after awhile. immensely tough to chew though... good jaw exercise

last but not least, the dessert of the day. Choice of cereal and with 3 different kinds of milk to go with. I chose the fruit loops and soya milk. I mean, how cool is that!?! Thanks barret!

Anyway, it was a real great evening catching up with old friends and people that we've lost contact for quite some years. But the way i see it, it's like we never left at all... for the risk of sounding too sentimental and emotional, i'll just end off here by saying.. cooool...

Dare I Dream?
Saturday, November 24, 2007
Read this morning that the Singapore soccer national team has for the first time progressed into like the third round of the world cup qualifiers. According to straits times, nowhere in our short history has the national team progressed that far. That means, they'll be playing with the big boys like japan, south korea, and australia in bid to be part of the finals come 2010 in south africa i think.

Anyway, being the typical skeptical singaporean that i am, had scoffed at the idea that my country would ever make it to the finals, not less in 2010. But after hearing of their big improvement, that small hope has in a way rekindled.

Not to get hopes up, but all of us do secretly hope that we can wear out national jerseys for once when we watch the world cup next time haha. Till then, cross our fingers and hope for the best!
