when it really strikes you that all good days must come to an end. As much as we try to put off the thought as far as possible, it's just the inevitable feeling that overwhelms you these days that when you realise you may not get to meet your good friends ever again.

Looking back on my past 6 months here, I must say that it was one of the best decisions I've made in my life. Not just because the school work was less rigorous or the fact that all I needed was a pass in my subjects, but rather having learned so much more about myself as a person.

Staying in Singapore for prolonged periods can really lead you to develop a narrow mindset where there exists only a single solution to any given set of problems. Moreover, I also discovered the importance of travelling because it allows us to learn humility and respect for other cultures as well.

One good thing i noticed though was that how open we are to other cultural influences, especially from Japan and Korea (dramas....). This meant that we always had something in common to talk about when meeting people for the first time. Unfortunately, this can't be said about some cultures who are still very insistent of maintaining the "purity" of their own lifestyles.

Overall, it was a great, no wait... it was a legend... wait for it.. dary experience that I'll never forget. As much as I want to sprout some witty and memorable lines, I probably won't be able to do it much justice at this time of the night.

best parts: meeting great friends, living life, being away from parents
not so good parts: nights can be lonely, some more than others. I figured for my next girlfriend, she must know how to cook haha.

had a few days break before my last exam so decided to cover perhaps my last destination in Italy; its capital city.. having watched angels and demon the night before, decided to visit the locations myself just for fun.


Wind - not sure whether it was the exact one as there was quite a few around the obelisk. This was located in St. Peter's square in the Vatican.


Water - Piazza Nuovella or something.. this is where the bad guy tosses the cardinal into the fountain to drown


I have no idea whether this is fire or earth but it was the arrow that led Tom Hanks to the first church. This sculpture is located in a very small church. Sculpture is by the master Bernini called Ecstasy of Saint Theresa. Apparently the nun was stabbed by the angel and the pain she experienced was so sweet it was likened to pleasure, even in erotic terms... well at least that's what my guidebook said..

too many tourists around though. Love the vatican museum, spent 2 and half hours inside. Rome is beautiful but Milan is still my beloved home.

ended my last paper today, which was fashion. 3 essay questions, one which i had to write crap because i didn't think they would ask about the american fashion model.

well, it's the beginning of the end.. looking forward to return, miss my duck. but heart feels increasingly heavy, i'll miss staying here and all my friends too..

i so love their exams system here...

1. multiple dates for each class so you can sign up for whichever date you want. e.g. June, July, and .... wait for it.... Sept!.

2. if you don't want to take the exam in Sept, you can still postpone it to the next semester!

3. If you fail the exam paper, it doesn't get recorded in the transcript, just sign up for the next paper.

4. Withdrawing - the action taken when you look at the exam paper and decide a. either its crap, or b. you have no idea how to do it; and return the paper to the teacher and leave the room to fight another day. And it doesn't count as a fail..

5. depending on luck, exams don't start on time. So if you wake up late, chances are you might still make it in time. My strategy exam started 45 mins late because they wanted to take attendance first.

6. the silence concept is a foreign construct in the examination hall. When the teacher (one person only) was taking attendance, we were having our mini party session at the back and it didn't matter. Xinjie can testify that even when the paper has commenced, there were so many questions that she couldn't help not laughing.

7. in NUS, if you studied, you MIGHT do well. In here if you studied, actually studied, you WILL do well. In fact, you most probably will top the class, if not be one of the top.

8. Non attending - an option given when you take the module and decide not to attend any lessons at all and just study by yourself to take the examination at the final (bypassing any project work and midterms you may have to do).

9. when final exams are 1 hour.

10. when final exams for non attending are 1 hour and essentially the same paper as the attending one with exception for 2 questions.

11. when you leave the examination hall in 20 minutes not because you want to cry or go to the toilet.
