Inconsequential Knowledge of Disaster & Catastrophe

And for this you would dance

So yesterday was Valentine's day. We didn't have the money to go out or to buy eachother extravagant gifts. And in my case none at all in time for the Holiday. Which itself will hopefully be rectified after getting my paycheck tonight and cashing it tomorrow morning. But we rented some great movies..only made it through half of them so far and we had some great food even if the fondue pot that I bought her for Christmas didn't seem to work properly. She placed the blame upon herself but I blame the pot. But hopefully, either way, we'll get it straightened out. Although it still makes an awesome decorative piece even if it never properly serves its purpose of a fondue pot. It is made to look like a Hershey's building in Time Square and it looks awesome anyway. I loved the day.

I had to change my plans for today as I was scheduled to work from 10am til 2pm which would have been perfect in that my paycheck arrives at our store around noon. I was going to drop Jenn off at the train station at 8:45 to catch the trains to the airport to get what she needs for her new (old) job and then head to work. Leave work and cash my check at the bank. PIck her up from the train station. And head to Wal-Mart to buy myself pants that are exceptable for employees where I work. So now I work 2pm until 10pm. I'll still get my paycheck today but we'll have to cash it and do the shopping tomorrow before I work which isn't so bad either.

And speaking of work. I nearly killed my coworker the other night...in my mind. He's the one that I was promised would be fired the first time that I worked there. Also promised that I was going to get his hours. Trust me...if anyone deserves a firing, it's him. He comes in on average of an hour late every single day. The closest he's been to on time has been 15 minutes late. He has been 1.5 hours late since I started back there and that's only on days that I am there. I don't know how much later he comes in on other days. He curses incessantly even with the store full of customers. LOUDLY. He talks 'smack' on nearly every customer after he's taken care of them on their register. He'll analyze each. He'll sicken my stomach.

The worst on Tuesday was his preaching. He gives me his whole sermon about how he used to change himself to be liked when he was in high school but then he was temporarily shunned whenever he let a little bit of the 'real' him slip through. So he decided that it wasn't worth it because they didn't care about him and really weren't his friends. Okay. I HAVE heard this one before and it does make sense. But then I thought about who this was coming from. And I realized that these weren't abnormal people that he was trying to get to like him. Not some strange clique. These were regular, every-day, real people! Who wouldn't take someone who was on time over someone that was as late as he pleased all of the time? Who wouldn't accept someone that had restraint in use of expletives..especially in public situations and worse yet, when at work in front of dozens of customers? For these are some of the most noticable traits about him and these are things that he must have changed for people to see him differently.

Each "good looking" girl that comes in he will ask me if I caught their high-and-mighty attitude. Sure, perhaps a couple out of a hundred have that attitude. But 90% atleast usually drop that attitude once they graduate (or drop out of) high school. But he assures me that every one of them are the same. Especially when they seem disinterested in talking to him during their transaction. They leave and he tells me that they are stuck up, uncaring individuals who could never "get" a guy like himself.

He's riding a very, very high horse. I want to find a very, very big stick and beat him off of said horse.

I, myself, like to try to ride a medium-sized horse. I realize that every person that walks in the door may or may not be in a happy mood. I am well aware that some customers will respond well to kind banter. And some will be more silent. And it very well could just be that particular day. The next day the previous day's quiet ones will return my greetings full-heartedly and smile. You realize that they aren't cold-hearted, unfeeling people. They were probably just having one of those off days that everyone has. That I have had and you have had. They don't think they are better than I am or he is. Sure, we're counter jockies but they know that this is a job, not a political or social standing. They go to jobs. We go to jobs. Maybe they just don't feel comfortable with walking into a store where one of the workers is throwing curses around at top-volume.

Okay. Now I'll step off my high, high soapbox which is still only half as tall as a certain someone's horse.

Anyway. Have a great day!!

Snow Watch 1.0
Tuesday, February 13, 2007
So they're planning snow for our area. FINALLY! I am not into a ton of snow in a given year but I don't like for a year to go by without any accumulation at all. And to this point we've had barely dustings. Now I will admit that I believe that a lot of people are blowing this one out of proportion. Our building manager wants us to park our cars in a lot on the other side of the complex, wait for them to plow, and then quickly move our cars to the newly plowed spots in front of our buildings. Right.... I'm not. And so many people prattle on about it. So far it sounds like we're looking at a little over two inches. Which to me is nothing at all. It's barely enough to bother driving through it for fun!! But it's supposed to start in about 3 or 4 hours at lest check and is supposed to last until early Wednesday morning. It's hard to believe that we'd be looking at only 2 inches for about 24 hours worth of snowingness. The bonus for me has got to be that I am supposed to drive to and from work during the 'heavier' times. Wooo!

It seems as if someone has gotten a hold of atleast my bank card info if not my account info as well. I am seriously overdrawn and the printout that I had the on-duty Account Manager made for me shows atleast 6 purchases that I would never make. For example: several months prepaid of Yahoo Business Mail at $19.99/month and AOL service at $14.99/month. Okay. I use ONLY the free, basic Yahoo mail service. I own four domain names and each has as much e-mail capacity and e-mail features I could ever need. Which cancels out every needing Yahoo Business Mail. And why on God's Green Earth would I pay for AOL when I have cable Internet access already? And even if I paid for a dialup service, it certainly wouldn't be AOL. So tomorrow I am calling my bank's 1-800 number to atleast have a freeze put on the account. My entire first paycheck from the new job JUST barely paid off what I was in the whole as far as my account goes. So it should be on the positive side tomorrow and I will have them freeze the account or I will close the account and have them cancel the holds for payments over the negative $120 limit they seem to have placed on my card's usage. And then I will go about getting my money back from these companies. Or atleast give me the login information I need to use both. If I am forced to pay for it, I sure as hell had better be able to use it.

There's other stuff going on but the stuff already mentioned has me at a mental roadblock and I am sure that there is nothing of dire interest remaining. But I will return tomorrow and see what's new! Goodnight.
