Chernobyl is an ongoing tragedy but there is a strange beauty in abandonned, decaying places being reconquered by nature. Incidentally, seeing these images reminded me of "the Zone" in Andrei Tarkovsky' s beautiful sci-fi film "Stalker" (1979).

The power of adaptation of the body, be it human or animal, in the effort to compensate disability will never cease to amaze me... The rear legs seem to have gone beyond the limitations imposed by the hips, causing the bottom of the dog to look deformed.







Does anybody knows what happened to that dog to be so dreadfully mutilated in the first place?
