What is the What, Dave Eggers | wedding update Monday. 11.6.06 4:46 pm With only minor getting lost incident, we made it to Reading to see the lovely Tara marry her soulmate. I honestly have seen very few couples who fit together so well. The rec hall looked fantastic. Fall leaves and autumn colours abound, and twinkly lights everywhere, and don't forget candles! I said the same thing when I did the wedding last year in West Chester. I would LOVE to have a fall wedding. As of yesterday Chris doesn't agree, so it may not happen, but for years I've loved the idea of a fall wedding. *sigh* Oh well...I guess I have to actually have the fiancee before that's a real issue. Hah. Tara looked absolutely stunning in her dress, and I have to say, the bride's maids weren't too bad ourselves! Heh, Caleb looked really cute in his little white tux, and Emilia made a wonderful little flower girl...even gnawing on the basket. The ceremony itself was really nice. They found a way to blend a traditional wedding service with a handfasting that worked really well. I made it through my reading, scratchy voice and all, heh...and I loved the incoorperation of a song from Phantom. Miss Jenn (the officiant) did a marvelous job! yay, Miss Jenn! I almost face planted on the way back from the alter. Luckily the groomsman I was paired with caught me. Stupid, tiny heeled shoes...they did a great job aerating the lawn though, hah. Afterwards we took a lot of really neat pictures, which will be posted as soon as I'm done loading and resizing them! My new camera performed beautifully! There were only 2 downsides to the day...and neither of them had to do with the wedding itself. 1. Chris and I were both beyond sick and striving to keep it together. I almost threw up in poor Issac's car so many times. 2. I had to leave early for a stupid staff meeting. Gah! I really didn't want to leave. :( I missed a bunch, but I was really blessed to be able to be there, and to be the maid of honour, to watch 2 of my best friends in the world get married. Stay tuned for pictures! Comment! (4) | Recommend! My mom used to really get into halloween. We had boxes and boxes of decorations, and even though we didn't live anywhere that got a lot of trick-or-treaters, she always had a big bowl of candy and all the spooky music ready for the few we did manage to get at the door. Our neighbours always had a really nice treat for me when i stopped by in my costume too, because I was one of the few kids on the hill. Samhain holds an entirely different tradition, which I really haven't done in a long time either. I do feel relly bad about that, especially since I owe so much of who I am to those who have gone before me, first and foremost my mother. On Samhain we remember, honour, and celebrate those who have died. We also clear a path for the changin seasons and what represents a new year on the pagan wheel. I used to be really active in the traditions, and like I said, I guess I'm just out of practice. My alter's pretty cluttered...come to think of it...maybe thats what I need...a good cleaning out. Just a thought. Comment! (2) | Recommend! | Categories: halloween [t], samhain [t] |
