Remarkable People
Monday. 4.25.11 6:17 am
Sometimes I wonder how remarkable people end up being so remarkable. Are they simply born remarkable? I would like to be remarkable, but I am not entirely sure about how to go about it. All of my passion to reduce sex trafficking through education, help develop a sewing robot to decrease the demand for sweatshop labor, to write novels to inspire young girls and boys into action themselves, to share my mind in a million different ways... it's all a little over my head right now.

It's like, in an average day (probably because of watching too much Ted.com) I feel like I'm inspired to do 60million amazing things to help humanity and I have to admit, while creative, I don't know if I have enough lifetimes to figure out how to go about them all. Sorry, child soldier in Africa. Sorry, sweat shop laborers in Bangladesh and Vietnam. "Knowing is knowing that you know nothing." - Socrates

Lunch with Me
Sunday. 4.24.11 1:11 am
I was having lunch by myself today and I was having a really fun train of thought that I'd like to share with you.

Disaster aware building: People often view disasters as things that never happen, but if you know anything about the world, surprises and disasters do happen. In fact, things like floods, tornadoes, hurricanes and volcanic eruptions happen regularly all over the globe. While I know this is something that already happens, I feel like it should be expanded and applied to more areas.

This came up because I was eating at Steff Hotdog, a dutch hotdog chain popular in South Korea. The Netherlands are entirely under the water table, which is fine so long as it doesn't flood. So let's just imagine that it will, like New Orleans before it, eventually flood. Why not prepare for it. Make a design competition out of it, OR, you could even reduce the pressure on the dam by periodically flooding the entire country, providing maintenance to the dams and then continue to build as usual. It is sort of a disaster management scenario as opposed to a disaster relief scenario.

Second it occurred to me that I have never seen a study done on how taboo different kinds of sexual acts are. I suppose that they have done individual studies on all of them, but what if you put all the ways you could have sex (Hetersexuality, homosexuality (male), homosexuality (female), bisexuality, polygamy, pedophilia, zoophilia, etc.) and asked the whole internet, "Do you think is okay" and had them anonymously click "yes" or "no", how would the numbers turn out?

Additionally, if everything has a sound (as is suggested by both the bible and string theory), then what would my sound be? I decided to fall back on what I liked, which is just a start... but I suppose it would be something that sounded old mixed with something that sounded new... like maybe Michael Buble. Yes, that would be my sound.. except sung by a girl. So I guess, a mix between Michael Buble, Natasha Bedingfield.. maybe throw in some Jason Mraz fast talking and a little of Colbie Calliat. I would possibly be a duet.

Do you live disaster aware? What kind sexuality is off the table for you? If you a sound, what would you sound like?

They Found HIM!!!
Wednesday. 4.20.11 9:11 am
Yeah, they found my dog!... er... not my dog. The someone else's dog that I- Oh forget it. I'm still happy.

RC: It's not a great story. Basically he's been wandering around my neighborhood for the past couple of weeks and finally surfaced Saturdayish. They kept on getting calls until they finally got one that allowed them to grab him. I don't know much since... well, I'm on the outs of that one.

I don't think that anything will heal that whole debacle, but at least the dog is safe and that was what really mattered anyway.

Polite company
Sunday. 4.17.11 8:06 pm
I think I'm going to invest in stocks when I get back. Then, at least, I will be able to have some friends who I can talk to in polite company. It seems that everyone only wants to talk about three things: politics, religion, sex. And while I think those are perfectly fine things to talk about, I feel like I'm always on the losing end of the conversation. I'm always trying to rational, reasonable and classy and all anyone else wants to do is attack, attack, attack. It's like playing chess and I'm bored with it.

Now! If I got into stocks, then I would be able to bore anyone interested in talking about those topic out of the rooms while simultaneously increasing my net worth. The only trick is that I have to save a little bit more money. Currently I make far too little to even be considered by a professional investing firm and investing is pretty difficult if you go it alone. Being a part of an investment firm allows you access to all of their product research which, for obvious reasons, can't be readily available to the general public. Well, off to work I go! Stay classy everyone.

Famous Runaways
Thursday. 4.7.11 7:19 pm
I was sitting in bed thinking about dogs last night when I suddenly remembered a kooky story from Eukanuba dog show. It was the Kerry Blue's year, what with them winning Crufts so recently. I think it was that same dog that was doing its American tour and the announcer said something about how about a month before the show, the dog got loose. The owners were terrified. This big televised dog shows week away and their expensive, award winning, purebred show dog had sprung itself loose. Obviously they found the dog before the show and it all became a funny story after that.
