Thursday, November 10, 2005 There's some weird outbreak of sore eyes going on in the wing and i caught it on wednesday. Initially thought that there was some dirt stuck in my eye so kept trying to wash my eye but to no avail. My friends informed me that my eye was red by afternoon and i guess it pretty much confirmed that i had sore eyes. Went to the medical centre and doc said they have to isolate me in the sickbay (*stunned*).. norm was that sore eye patients get Att C and rest at home. Went to sick bay and saw another person also having sore eyes from my wing, life was pretty dull in there, being confined in the room with nothing to do but try to study but without hands on for my GPMG. Next day saw another 2 more patients from my wing also for sore eyes, from my platoon too lol. 4 people being isolated. 1 more person came from my wing.... also because of SOC ramp... but managed to escape isolation unlike us. When it almost became we had to stay another night, I had a fever of 38.7 which led the doc to think it might be dengue or another infection so decided to send me home for a long weekend, which meant i would be missing both my MG and signals test, not sure whether it'll affect my chances of going signals. Thankfully my instructors allow me to resit for my MG test but was informed that i need to be back on saturday at 8 so not sure whether i will get confined and such yup... Comment! Friday, November 4, 2005 so awesome! get a long weekend as a reward as my platoon had full participation for all the IPPT tests our wing had, go Sierra! hmm... done something i really shouldn't have... silly silly me.. Comment! (0) | Recommend! some thoughts.. Thursday, November 3, 2005 sometimes i wonder... what is the purpose of my life? If i were to die today, how would i leave this world? Would my short existence on this planet changed anything? Would i have done anything to have a positive impact on others' lives? Would others lead a slightly better life just because i was alive? on the side note.. It always hurts to have something taken away from you, especially something so beautiful. And as much as you hope that it would be returned, deep down you know it will never happen, much less the way you want it to, and perhaps that's why it hurts so much more. Comment! (2) | Recommend! battered and bruised Sunday, October 30, 2005 just came back from field camp this week, battered and bruised haha. this week has passed amazing fast as it just felt like one long day. from the moment i went back we rushed the preparations all the way till we came back and cleared stores, so didn't get very much sleep the whole week. Don't think the programme was that tough, but the conditions was definately challenging. It rained practically every day i was there, pretty heavily as well. All of us had multiple abrasions and possibly footrot because we were wearing soaked boots most of the time. For me, i had to visit the medic every day to patch my leg up otherwise i cant walk normally, my friends were saying they see more gauze on my tighs than skin lol. I cursed everytime it rained, then it rained even more, morale was quite low. My buddy's field pack and mine was also taken away by a wild boar on the first day lol. There were reports that the wild boar cheonged the concertina wire and broke through and grabbed our bags from the tent and rummaged for the combat rations. No serious damage was done except for our rations which was all eaten, my buddy's side pocket was torn but still survivable, quite funny to think of it now, but still wanted to detonate the pig with a if it returned. When we returned, we were given a short while to clear the stores and then shower to prepare for the school celebration dinner for Deepavali and Hari Raya Haji. Decked out in shirt and pants attire, it was a stark contrast to what we wore a few minutes before, an all muddy no.4. This experience gave me a bit more insight what was expected of us, with such extremes on both ends, to be a soldier and a gentlemen, cheong sua and attend functions lol.. quite fun, but no im not signing on lol. Anyway, thanks to all who sent me well wishes on my birthday.. spent my birthday clearing stores, attending dinner and then cleaning my rifle till the wee hours in the morning. Thanks also to rene who had to call 6 times from aussie before being able to reach me the next day cos i was doing things in camp, pleasant surprise and many thanks. before i end off, would like to apologise for the poor english and pathetic unincomprehensable arrangement of my words...too shag to think lol.
