Another Quickie
Sunday, April 8, 2007
Well this will be a quick update that is more for the sake of just posting than anything else. Last week was a looong week and this one is looking to be even longer. I am automatically scheduled for overtime hours but I am working an extra 4-6 hours today because Chad and I are covering half of another worker's shift each so that she can take her newborn baby to both sides of his family for lunch. Or wait...is it a her? One of my fellow employees had a girl and the other had a boy. I forget which was which. But I'm taking half of her shift atleast depending upon when Chad can get there.

I will be stopping the car off at my mom's so that she and Rob can pick up pizzas and come over here to eat and watch a couple movies that we rented. if I weren't working we'd go to my grandparents in the Poconos but they can't go without me taking them in my car and I can't make it. So we're doing this instead. Should be nice though. As long as I can stay awake and I have to get up uber early again tomorrow to be at work around 6am to help my boss count stuff for inventory. I don't start til 9 and I do the counting off-the-clock but I help ensure that our numbers are correct which helps me A) get my raise when I've been there six months and B) get our quarterly bonus. If we make all of our numbers and our inventory is close enough to correct we get $100 per every three months. Which at 40 hours equals 63 cents. So for getting the bonus it's like a 63 cent raise in your pay. $100 per 3 months may not sound like a whole lot of money..but it' s free money t us. So it's definitely worth going in. And I usually get some free food which I also won't pass up to often. And then there's the fact that I've been picking up Chad that early in the morning because his reliever usually comes in a little late because she has a young son whose sitter isn't always on time and then Chad misses a bus or two and gets home later and risks not waking up in time to catch the last bus of the night which he has to catch to get to work to relieve me at the end of my shift. So he gives me gas money and I get the piece of mind that he should be at work on time so I can leave work that night.

There'll be band info/updates on the way but it'll have to wait a bit because it's time to shower and head out for work.

Have a great Easter and I'll catch you A.S.A.P..

Do The Humpty Dance
Tuesday, April 3, 2007
Today's title is brought to you by: a lack of creativity. But anyone remember the humpty dance? Or something like that. But that's neither here nor there.

So I am still hard at work on the forums for the new etheracide site. Looks like we should be having our first FULL band practice on Saturday night from 8-11pm as Brian SHOULD be able to make it so we'll have all four members! Jenn should be able to make it down to take the headshot picture I want of the four of us to go at the top of our new site. I love the look/layout that I came up with but it needs the picture at the top to kick it up a notch hah

I am trying to find someone that can embroider a patch based on a simple design that I'll have digitized shortly. I have a great treatment (script) written for our first music video...yes, even though the song hasn't even been recorded yet ha...and it requires a certain beanie hat to be worn by our singer. Now, I've found several companies that will create the patch and attach them to the beanie knit caps but they won't do it for less than an order of 36 which would run about $140 + shipping. I think that once the video is seen locally we should very well be able to sell them but with everything else we need money for (as a band and personally) I am not sure that we could come up with the money to have them made. So I was thinking that if I could find someone to embroider the patch (I think only three colors and an easy design with no lettering) that I could attach it to a beanie. And then we could use the company once we see that there is an actual demand for it.

But in any even the music video should be cool. I will try using the director that did our first one (but I don't make it officially our first because it was before there was a full band, just Chad and myself) and it was her first one. Well she's come a hell of a long way. She'd love to work with us but of course her schedule is a pain. But Brian, our bassist goes to the University of the Arts in Philly for Communication and should be able to get all of the equipment for free. I could direct it pretty well I believe since I have the whole vision in my head but he may be able to enlist the help of another director and any other technicians we can get. He can do editing himself with my help and I am sure that we can pull in any other help that we may need with post-production.

So now I am mostly back on my 2-10pm shift at work...well 3 days of my 6 day work week. Which may allow me to get back to watching Late Night With Conan O'Brien which I haven't done in 2.5 weeks because I had to work mornings while my food manager was at training. Which she passed. But less than 50% of the class passed. Which is attrocious. But we're not dealing with rogue geniuses here. No offense to them though.

I forgot to mention in my previous post that yesterday was the first game of the Philadelphia Phillies season! I will be creating a new module to replace the Eagles one shortly. I was so excited and thought that I might get to watch it but they pulled that "Opening Day Trick" where they make it a 1pm game. And it still sold out completely which is awesome. We had the lead but ended up losing it in the tenth inning. =0( But the next game is tomorrow night. But I have to work during it. And the next one is on Thursday which I could catch half of if it were a night game..but no..another freakin' afternoon game! Damn them. But I'll catch all the ones that I can and hopefully catch at least a handfull of games. I'd love to try to catch 8-10 games but it will come down to my work schedule and whatever my band's gig schedule does to my work schedule. hah

We're looking for a new place to live. We handed in our notice that states that May 31st will be our last day here. Between work, finding another place to live, the band and packing to move and then moving...this will be a very, very busy two months. Exhausting. But there's no reason to stay here really I guess. They are bumping the rent up over $100/month and it certain isn't getting to be a greater place to live. Not any worse either but definitely doesn't justify that much of an increase in rent. And it's probably at least 75% likely that it will go up again the following year. So we need to get out. We'd like to get a three bedroom place and we're looking in the town where our band practices because it's roughly halfway between the airport and where Chad and I work. And we'd be near the train station so that Chad can take a train then bus to work but still take less time that it takes him now. Wish us luck with the search!

Well that's about it. Gotta get as much done on the forums as I can before I wake up Jenn and then have to shower and leave for work. But I'll be back asap. Have a great day!
