The Grass Is Greener
Quote
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous,
talented and fabulous.
Actually, who are you not to be?

From Yahoo news:

Singapore PM's salary stuns White House official

A senior White House official on Tuesday admitted he was floored by the news that Singapore's prime minister earned five times more than US President George W. Bush.

"I'm going to emigrate and run for office in Singapore," the official said on condition he be identified only as "a senior administration official who sits in disbelief after reading that story."

On Monday, the Singapore government had announced a fresh 25.5 percent pay hike for Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, boosting his salary to 2.05 million dollars per year.

Bush gets paid 400,000 dollars per year for doing his job, according to the White House.

Combined with personal investment income, he and his wife Laura reported 618,694 dollars in taxable income in the 2005 fiscal year. They had to pay 187,768 dollars in federal taxes.

But maybe Bush shouldn't feel so bad. The Singaporean's paycheck is eight times fatter than Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's.

my response is uncannily similar, down to the last star star, to : Insanepoly

I don’t want to hear anymore about your justifications and rationalisations. Obviously you guys have no intention of listening to any of the people, so why should we the people listen to you. As someone once said, this has ceased to be a conversation. You tell us what you want and you go ahead and do it whether we the people like it or not. So what’s there to say. So shut the f**k up and enjoy your riches. Just don’t tell me you are doing this for my own good or for the good of the country.

For the past 2 friggin days, the ST has daily devoted 5-8 pages to the MIWs justifications for the minsterial pay hikes. Enough of that already.

Shut the f**k up.

You’ve got your money, but must you also have the last word as well. Take your f**king money and go f**king choke on it. Just shut the f**k up and get out of my face. I am sick of your bullshit.

Materialism
Monday. 4.16.07 10:38 am
ma·te·ri·al·ism /məˈtɪəriəˌlɪzəm/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[muh-teer-ee-uh-liz-uhm] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation
–noun
1. preoccupation with or emphasis on material objects, comforts, and considerations, with a disinterest in or rejection of spiritual, intellectual, or cultural values.

I probably am. I can't help it, I see nice stuff, and i get blinded by the glossy packaging, and shell out money just cause its pretty. And i tell myself i need it. I need new bags, new shoes, new makeup, new skincare, new accessories... and obviously the list goes on. A girl needs her pretty stuff no?

My bf says i lie.
lol

i mean, cmon, do you care when u buy a blouse and meditate on the spiritual meaning of the flowing lines? You buy a bag and contemplate on the cultural aspects and the inspiration it gave the designer?

And if

these pretty things cost me a bit more, coz it pretty. Well, I'm a sucker.

and if a Lancome foundation cost me 60+ bucks vs a watson's bought 20+/- no name foundation. I'll opt for Lancome. Mainly because the quality is better. there's technology involved, so they say. and I don't mind paying for it. there must be a reason for going to work at 8.30 in the morning right?

are pple whu do not buy branded stuff not materialistic?
thats not true either.
there are those whu can't afford it.
and there are those whu probably spend their money elsewhere, like techie stuff.
Upgrades forever for their PCs, lappies, PSP etc.

So whu cares if i'm materialistic or not.
As long as I'm happy. Whu r u to sneer?

kuishinbo
Saturday. 4.7.07 5:55 am
went for the jap buffet, kuishinbo at suntec a while back.

where they serve, huge Alaskan Crabs,

i took only 2 parts, took me half an hour to eat. digging away in the shells to get to the sweet flesh. amazingly sweet and now i know why its so damn ex. well that and the fact that boats brave extreme temperatures and gigantic waves and risk of death.

yum

food was fantastic, ate so much i probably gained 5kg if i bothered to weigh myself. o the sashimi, the paper steamboat, the sushi, the udon, the side dishes, the tempuras....

i was gonna puke if i had to eat another plate of teppenyaki of exquisitely grilled beef and tender grilled chicken

if i had another cup full of chocolate mousse

or another piece of chocolate fondue

or delicately handmade chocs

its cost me 98 bucks for the 2 of us.
ouch.
