On my first day back from camp I went to Sugar Brown's for a fix and a relaxing place to read. A group of old guys were playing covers of old songs, and they looked silly, so I took a picture. I forgot to turn off the flash. After they finished playing the leader, I guess, of the group came up to me and said that he had forgotten his camera and would I please send him that picture. I said of course, and he gave me his email.

The email I sent him:

Hey, here's your picture!Love the music, man.

(Couldn't get HTML to work with hotmail... Sorry)

-Hannah

Notice the simplicity and upfrontness. Nothing other than sending that picture and telling him I like the music he chose to cover. No hidden signals.

The email I recieve in reply:

Great picture - thanks so much! Thanks for listening - what did youlike the best? Could I take you out for coffee sometime??
Marc

Notice the excessive use of question marks and the general creepiness of that statement... This guy's like, 60... Maybe I look a bit older than 16, but shoot, I'm not a gold-digger!

I sent back:

I like the Beatles covers best.

Notice that I did not answer his double question marked question. I thought maybe he would get the point... But no. It gets even creepier.

The Beatles are my all-time favorites. I'm getting some of their songstogether for one of our cd's. What are your favorite Beatles songs? My new personal and Caprock Top phone is: 939-3144. The card I gave youneeds updating. Call me sometime! (Caprock Top refers to a tornado onthe Cap.) Did you say you were from Lubbock?

Hannah is a beautiful name; doesn't it mean "handmaid of the Lord?"Thank you Hannah, you've been a blessing to me! Marc

CREEPER CREEPER CREEPER! How have I been a blessing to him?! By providing him with a mental image to jack off to? Gross!

Haven't said anything in reply. Thinking of saying "Hannah means 'grace,' please fuck off," but I probably just won't say anything.

Or maybe I'll tell him I do live in Lubbock for the time being but am moving to a convent in a week and a half and cutting off all of the outside world.

Should have just not sent the picture to begin with... Lol.

------------------------------------

I do data entry at my mom's office 6 hours a week, and that consists of entering new patients into the computer.

I'm going about my business, entering the address, when I realize that this street name is quite familiar. And, why, so is the number!

Well, shoot, I saw this lady get taken to the emergency room yesterday. So we had the house to ourselves.

This is weird... It's like it's trying to tell me something...

That's a funny pun.

Lolz at I'm starving. I want to get my shit taken care of and curl up with a good book. Yeah bro.

I finally saw the Dark Knight yesterday. Definitely amazing. The Joker is my favorite villian now.

Me: The Joker's my favorite bad guy now.
My Mom: Did you know he killed himself??
Me: The Joker?
My Mom: Yeah! He over-dossed or took too many pills or something!
Me: Heath Ledger...
My Mom: Yeah, the Joker!

Lol. My mom is silly. She doesn't know what she's talking about. Over-dossing and taking too many pills are the same thing?

I've been at camp the past week.
Friday. 7.18.08 8:38 pm
Eh.

Can't say much about it.

Slight let down, I suppose. I remember when camp was like... it. That was the thing to look forward to all through out the year. And I guess I did look forward to it quite a bit. Maybe for the wrong reasons.

No. They were good reasons. I wanted to see Boone so badly, but mostly I wanted to rebelieve. I want a reason to believe in God again. I didn't really find one at camp. Maybe I shouldn't have gone. Maybe I should go on a retreat with out hardcore Christians. Maybe just somebody who loves me. Not people with their opinions to shove down my throat.

I wanted to tell people about my dad. I wanted to get everything off of my chest. I never got the chance though.

Too many opinions to shove down my throat.

Eh, my dad's still manic, putting me in a pretty sucky mood.

Not to mention I walked everywhere mostly uphill this week, went to bed no earlier than midnight and woke up no later than 8:15, and danced harder than I've danced in my life last night. Plus drove on a parentless road trip. That was awesome! But exhausting. Sososososo exhausting.

I'm having two conversations right now. Well, this "conversation" where I'm typing what I'm thinking and the one where my dad is rambling and whatnot. Lamed, yar.

Mmm.

Against everyone but my cousin's recomendations, I chose the first topic. Here's my speech outline, if anyone is interested:
Wednesday. 7.9.08 10:41 pm
-Harry Potter is over. There will be no more release parties, no more speculations as to who will live and who will die and whether or not Good will finally triumph over Evil. Sure, there may be the next few movies to look forward to, but everyone already knows what has happened. Besides, the actors will probably be 40 before the movies are finally finished. No. Harry Potter is done for good. Theres nothing you can do about it.

-A true Harry Potter fan should be heartbroken at this, should one not?
-Of course one should not! A true Harry Potter fan knows that thats entirely untrue.

-Harry Potter, as will any media, will never be truly over.

-Perhaps the movies dont really compare, but any devotee can find a way to keep Harry Potter alive without waiting for, or even watching, the movies, fantastic as they are.

-What way is this, you may ask? Why, Wizard Rock!
-Wizard Rock? you may scoff. But Wizard Rock is indeed one of the major ways that Harry Potter is kept alive and evolving. A simple guess will lead one to the correct conclusionit is a genre of music devoted to all things Harry Potter. What began as a simple attempt to keep people entertained by Joe and Paul DeGeorge of Harry and the Potters has become an international project, fueled by a love of music and Harry Potter.

-Every band has its own interpretation of the books, and voices that interpretation in the music.
-The Remus Lupins, for instance, sing of the potential love between Ron and Hermione as slightly raunchy in By the Fire, while The Ministry of Magic sings of the charming and innocent puppy love that is so apparent between the two in Accio Love.
-Both of these songs tell stories that are not necessarily told in the books, but that the bands see fit to tell. Thus, the bands keep Harry Potter alive and well, telling new stories for eager listeners to dig into, and providing new ways for devoted fans to experience the themes portrayed in the books.

-Not only does Wizard Rock serve to keep Harry Potter alive, but it brings Harry Potter to life. Matt, of the Whomping Willows, is a board member of the Harry Potter Alliance. The HPA is an organization dedicating to fighting the dark and difficult times and Voldemorts we face in the real world. Using Harry Potter parallels and not a little Wizard Rock, they work to fight genocide, poverty, and global warming, as well as other problems this world sees today.

-With out Wizard rock many HPA projects would not have been started, such as Wizard Rock The Vote, which encourages Harry Potter lovers and Wizard Rock fans to vote in upcoming elections, nor would Harry Potter be quite as ever-changing and evolving as it is today.

-The Parselmouths say it best: We may not have any more books to read, but we have each other now, and nothing can keep us all apart; but Bellas Love sings it best: Hes not really dead you see, hes alive in you me, a long as we believe.

Souch a rough draft, it's ridiculous. Also, I cranked it out in about 2 and a half hours. Lots of internet surfing was involved, but I will say that much of that was research. Looking for quotes and such.

HELP!
Wednesday. 7.9.08 7:51 pm
I have a question for everyone.
For my speech (Wizard Rock themed) , should I talk about:

-The way media is constantly changing even after it is "over" because of the way people continue to interpret it?
or
-The theme of the right thing and the good thing not always being the same?

Sooo
Monday. 7.7.08 2:29 pm
My dad comes home today. My mom's going to get him right now.

My speech idea was a failure, so I'm gonna have to go for cheesy and not controversial now.

There is a show at the Bright House tonight, and Coquelicot is playing.

Douglas is doing a photo shoot of me and Yashvi tomorrow.

Madison comes to town Friday.

I leave for camp in a week.

Bleck. So my new speech idea is this: Things in the media, such as Harry Potter, are constantly changing and evolving, even after they are "over," because of things that people who read/watch/etc these medias do.

I have to have my outline sent in by the 15th, but that's basically the 10th, since Madison's coming to town.

When me and Aaron were practically dating, I told Madison we were, and that I really wanted her to meet him. I haven't told her we're not anymore, but I did ask if he would hang out with us, and I'm really excited for that.

On the fourth Aaron and I hung out. He came to watch fireworks with me. He said he didn't think Yashvi was as hot as everyone seemed to think. Is it awful that that made me feel really good about myself? He didn't say anything about me being prettier than she is, but the fact that she doesn't think she's just drop dead gorgeous made me happy.

Maybe it's because she wears a lot of make up and straightens her hair and frets over her appearance, and he still doesn't think she's all that hot. Because I don't do any of that, and he obviously has to be attracted enough to me to kiss me.

Maybe it's because she tries so hard and I don't, and he still thinks I'm pretty.

Maybe I should stop obsessing over him...
