Inconsequential Knowledge of Disaster & Catastrophe

Some of the things we learn...
Wednesday, June 13, 2007
Recently I've learned things such as to not count out the Philadelphia Phillies, do not discuss your NuTang popularity rating in a blog on NuTang, that life can be very fleeting and that stress CAN make you want to kill yourself.

The Philadelphia Phillies started this season 4-11 which was the exact opposite start that we wanted as the Atlanta Braves and New York Mets jumped out to huge leads in the division. But despite a few embarrassing losses the have trudged on to 34-31 which puts them only one game behind the Braves and three behind the Mets as of last night. Their second-year ace starter Cole Hamels leads the National League in striking out batters at 104 and wins with 9 and is taking the league by storm. They have a couple key pitchers on the Disabled List but if they can keep up this pace then they will be that much more in contention when those key pitchers come back. But with both of this season's closing pitchers out and the bullpen doing a far-less-than-stellar job, they need excellent work out of their starters to get them far into the game before calling in the bullpen. Their worst pitcher so far this season, Freddy Garcia, is getting his shoulder looked at and Kyle Kendrick pitches his first Major League game tonight in his place. Here's hoping that he can go deep into the game. But the White Sox are a pretty good team to cut his teeth on in the big leagues. Here's hoping.

The second point: Once a little while back I pointed out that every NuTang popularity rating I saw was between 9 and 10. So I decided that instead of the rating system going from 1 to 10 that it went from 9 to 10. And therefore he 9.25 I had at the time would literally equate to 4.5 in a 1 to 10 scale. Then I received comments from users whose ratings were below that so I apologized to them for complaining about my 9.25. And now it has plummeted well below that mark. Ok.Lessons learned. Do not discuss your popularity rating in a blog. And. Attempt to stop boring everyone. I wish myself luck there.

Now life can and will be very fleeting. One day my 41 year old boss is fine. Over a few days his chest hurts and progressively symptoms pop up and worsen such as dizziness and lightheadedness. One night he told me that if his symptoms didn't get better that he'd go to the doctor the next morning. It didn't surprise me when I pulled into our store's parking lot and his truck wasn't there. Didn't surprise me when I was informed that his doctor had hospitalized him. And thenfind out that he had had a stroke. Just a daily reminder that life could end at any time, at any age for any reason in any way.

I don't have the time to get into the next lessons to the extent that I wanted to but many stresses and forms of pressures have made me want to plant my car into the base of the Manayunk Wall. hah That will have to do for now as I need to shower and shave and get my ass headed into work.

But a last second addition is that my new PC arrived! Won't be able to do anything with it until Friday most likely and will still have to buy a wireless router and card for my PC but til then maybe I can get away with running a long ass ethernet cable but that would still cost about as much. So it may be another week or so before I can actually get online with the new PC. Will work on it though!

Have a supergreat day!

This won't be too long and I'll have to leave out a lot of stuff that I'd like to include now but I hate doing much on this laptop because it does weird things or my fingers make it do weird things such as go back to a previous page in the middle of a long something I'm writing which often times causes me to lose all that I had just written. So I am going to attempt to avoid all such things.

I paid for my "newish" PC yesterday. Hopefully I'll receive it mid-week. It's a complete upgrade on all of the components that my most recent PC had. And it's the same make so I am hoping that I can add another 50% more RAM by adding the stick of RAM to the new one from my old PC. This will help greatly in the areas of video editing and basically...just getting anything done. Needed a PC that works up to my speed =0)

Almost everything is in my new room! I won't get into details about the move yet but I hope to at some point. But warning..if I do, it'll be an all-out full-on bitchfest! But my room is nearly arranged and awaiting my computer. Also have to find out why my cable box isn't showing anything above channel 11. What the hell?? There's nothing to see on the channels it actually shows! We'll get it fixed. I also have to try to look into fixing our leaking washing machine because the laundry room is at the bottom of a big hill and carrying heavy laundry up the hill sucks and it is far to expensive. Yeah, wish me luck on that.

Well it's good to be back and sometimes this week I should be back for good...atleast moreso than I have been in the past few months after my computer crashed. Have an excellent weekend!
