title || the SAT of no return
posted @ 7:18pm

SATs tomorrow. wish me luck, or...not. right now I'm in the middle of taking a practice test, and taking a 3-minute break.

crap...must get 2100+ or else parents will beat the bejesus (hehe...bejesus) out of me. personally, I think 2000/2050+ is good enough, but hey, since when does my opinion matter?

same bullshit as ever. NBA playoffs, slaving away studying for the SATs (::shudder::...SATs), crap, shit, homo, hoping that my mom doesn't stay home 24/7 anymore, etc.

4 day weekend this...weekend. yes...but in 2 weeks, SATs! normally I wouldn't care so much because they don't count anyway, but to my parents, they do. sucks for me. scared of getting beaten.

anyway...I got Photoshop CS...from...somewhere, and with it, I think I'll make another new design...within the next two years. when I'm really stuck with nothing left to do (i.e. while waiting for CTY, which will suck anyway...), then I'll consider it.

Star Wars III was ok, but only the people who lined up there at midnight because they think they have something to gain by being the first ones to see it will actually get a kick out of it. I WANT MY $7.99 BACK!!!

yes, typical asian.

"WHO IS THAT ONE?!?"

heh.

wondering why you are reading this,

just a slight touch-up on the design. moved the music from Ripway to Streamload, because of Ripway's bandwidth restrictions (basically, if too many people came in one day, the host would shut down. that equals no music for a week as a penalty to me). also, modified the container a little bit (effect on the mod / entry divider, arrows on the right side) and added the hosting credits at the top.

nooo!!! spring break is over! back to school, damn. only two months left until summer, though! then the CTY "hell session" begins (Lancaster 1, Crafting the Essay). why is it hell? that is for me (and a couple others) to know. trust me, you don't want to...

title || new design!
posted @ 11:59 pm

finally, I've rolled out the new design for my nutang! even though nobody comes here anymore, it's still fun to make designs. if anyone does stop by, please leave a comment (even if you're not a member, you can).

all graphics were designed in Paint Shop Pro 8; and the page CSS was hand-coded, both by me (this is actually the first time I have coded completely from scratch). if you want, you can see the original source images:
cityscape - in the background
waterfall - in the foreground, it's hard to see because I added an opacity filter and made it really bright (on purpose). I used the bottom part of the waterfall, if that helps you to see it.

hope you enjoy it...if you come here, that is. leave a comment, seriously; I spent a good few hours on this (for those of you that are wondering, yes, I didn't have a whole lot to do today...it was rainy and shit outside, and my brother and parents were out – though that isn't exactly a bad thing...). try the new rating thing, too.

the music is Vindicated - Dashboard Confessional, because we're re-doing this song for English (making new lyrics for it, getting the old audio out, and SINGING it) and I felt like putting it here. go me. btw, the music works (for me) on Firefox but not in IE. w/e...

if you have any questions about this, from "what the hell is this crap doing here?" to "wow, why did you make this piece of shit?" and "OMGWTFBBQ HOW THE HELL DID YOU DO THAT SHIT?!?" I'd be happy to help you...or diss you back.

note: this looks a lot better on Mozilla Firefox, which you should download anyway because
Firefox > Internet Explorer. it just looks better because I designed this using Firefox. the download is free and you can bring over all your settings, favorites / bookmarks, etc. from Internet Explorer automatically.

besides all this design crap...SPRING BREAK!!! a week of nothing but biking around, tennis, video games, hangin' with friends, and other crap I can think up.

anyways, enjoy the design, and have a nice day.

SOMEONEWTFWHATASTRANGETRIP

that pretty much sums it up. it kind of sucked. why? you'll soon find out...

{ day 1 - thursday }
alarm went off at 5:30 am. slammed on the clock to make it shut up. finally pried myself off the bed at 6:00 or so, did stuff with contacts / washed up, pulled some crap together for breakfast, and left at roughly 6:30 with a backpack and small luggage bag. arrived at school at almost 7:00, sat around with roommates (Brett, David, Peter) for 45 minutes. then we boarded the coach bus, heading for Annapolis, MD (we were bus #6, and it was crazy but still fun). 2-3 hour ride to Annapolis, watched Spiderman and Spiderman 2 on the way and talked. then, at Annapolis, we ate lunch, toured the U.S. Naval Academy there and the city in general. boring as hell - pretty much all we did was walk around and half-listen to the tour guide. after wearing our shoes out on the uneven brick of the old section of town, we re-boarded the buses and headed to Arlington National Cemetery. here, we not only saw some of the 260,000 graves there, we also witnessed the Changing of the Guard / Wreath Laying Ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier(s). that was a little more interesting than Annapolis, but the problem was that it was pouring and i left my jacket in the bus. so i got soaked (my shirt changed colors) as we stood watching. after this escapade, we departed the cemetery and headed to H20 Restaurant for a dinner, if you could call it that. a buffet with about 6 seperate items total for about 200 kids (from buses #6 through #10) = CRAP!!! barely ate anything there. moving on, our group visited a long succession of memorials & monuments, including Jefferson, Washington, Lincoln, World War II, Korean War, Vietnam War, etc. in pitch-black darkness and rain. of course, it was kind of hard to appreciate and respect the dead veterans with aching feet, soaked bodies, empty stomachs, and mental problems, but respect we did (i think). finally, at some unknown time, we dragged our worthless carcesses back to the bus and headed to the Hilton for some well-deserved rest, dividing into our groups of four and stumbling into our rooms. inside, we showered and cleaned up (at least, some of us did), and started cooking up some of the infamous Shit Cups i brought (don't ask if you don't know), spending at least fifteen minutes figuring out how to work the American coffeemaker so we could boil up some water. besides this, we watched some documentary about hookers on HBO (there wasn't that much, actually), talked, and attacked each other for fun. sleep was put off until 12:30 or so, which we would regret the next morning.

{ day 2 - today }

rising at 6:00 am, falling out of our beds, and stumbling into the walls, we managed to pull it together, pack up and clean up, then head down to the hotel's breakfast. then the touring resumed, as we took a short bus ride before getting off to view the White House, Capitol Hill, etc. finally, we stopped at two Smithsonian Museums - Natural History and Air & Space. those were all right, I guess, but no wapiti (again, don't ask). also, while sitting around outside the Air & Space Museum, a girl I didn't even know walked up and asked me for my phone number. given my sadistic, I-don't-care personality, you can probably guess that I said no. but that was probably the most interesting part of the day. nothing else really happened. at all. we boarded the buses and headed home at 2:00 pm. on the way home, we watched Friday Night Lights and Spaceballs. being on the bus was better than the actual trip. sad...anyway, we stopped about halfway home at a rest stop to eat. finally, we arrived back (late) at 7:30 pm. since my parents were also late as usual and I was wandering around searching for them, I borrowed Nick's cell (mine is broke), got them to pick me up, and went home.

yeah. so the trip wasn't that great. in fact, the best parts were the bus rides and time in the hotel - where there was just time to chill and hang out. given the choice, I WANT MY $240 BACK!!! but that's just me, the asian.

but, I have 3 parties coming up, and spring break is just around the corner. I guess it gets worse before it gets better.

title//update
haven't been back in a while.

well, life has been a blur lately...something flashes before your eyes and then it's lost forever to the memory. here's a rundown of my hellhole lately:

Cancun trip...just read this. it'll save me a lot of effort of trying to write about it myself. what crap. i want my money back.

parties: well, Chen's was pretty much the same as mine, and I went to a few other Chinese parents...most of which went the same way (play manhunt outside while it's 10° F, trip over random objects & animals in the process, play crap and watch TV 'til 2:00 AM, etc.).

GEPAs: yes, Grade Eight Proficiency Assessments! a week of doing nothing but 2 hours of testing in school, followed by watching movies for the rest of the school day. they seemed pretty easy to me. i hope i do as good as i thought i did. shit, that's a mouthful.

CTY: lancaster, session 1, crafting the essay. fuckin' parents chose all of it.

well, i don't really feel like sparing the time to write more.

later,
