Everyone knows everyone here. It's destroying me slowly. I mean, I can't go to a freaking nerd-sport meet without being in the room with two ex-best friends. Another of them was in the room over.

I want to stop caring about things. That's what Jeth said I should do. And that's what I usually do. I don't care whether I win or lose.

But I have to win. This is my life.

Isn't that pathetic? That something like aca deca is my life? But it is. Otherwise how do I get into college? I didn't play the GPA game, I didn't make national merit. I have to get scholarships somehow.

Blechhhhhhhhh. I hate money. I wish schooling was always free.

I really hate taking notes. The only problem is, dates and names are so hard for me to remember. Things people did and such, those stick in my mind like gum, especially if they're interesting. But who the people were, and when they did the things they did, that just doesn't seem important to me. I mean "at the time of the French Revolution" or "during colonization", that's logical. It gives me a general frame of reference to base what I'm learning off of, but 1775? I can't remember that for the life of me.



This is why I will not be doing too hot in apush... Because really, I refuse to take notes. I'm just like that.

Thursdays are always good days. I mean, a Thursday means a Friday's just around the corner, right? And a Friday means a weekend. Means not having to be home at ten. Means not having to be up by 6:40. Means not having to see people I don't want to see, if I don't want to see them.

I love weekends, and so I love Thursdays.


I do need to:
1) work on college essays
2) get the Fountainhead
3) sign up for scholarships


blechhh college things. I'm going to California in October to interview at CCA. I'm excited. :]]

so I was going to sneak out of the house last night, it being a not-school night and all. so before bed I opened my window, so it wouldn't wake anyone when I opened it in the middle of the night. then Katharine couldn't give me a ride to the show because she was supposed to hang out with her bee/eff afterwards. So I asked Jeremy, who said that the show was actually 18+. so I asked Daniel if he wanted to hang out when he got off work (which would be at one) and he said he'd let me know. So this was at about 11:30-12:00, so I had some time to kill, so I watched a movie, and got pretty sleepy. at about 1:30 Daniel told me he was actually gonna go jam with his band, so I turned the light off and went to sleep.

during this sleep, I dream that I'm at Katharine's house and her mom finds her window open right after we sneak back in (from getting National Geographic magazines?) we said it was hot so we'd opened it.

just now my mom came in to my room to wake me up.
mom: your windows open.
me: oh yeah, it got really hot.
mom: do you do that often?
me:yeah.
mom: mosquitos can get in through that... we need to get you a screen.
me: or a fan?

I am currently in my House of the Dead.

Mrs. Cross is the coolest English teacher ever, excluding Mrs. Wickersham, cause they're just completely different and can't be compared. But while Mrs. Wickersham is like the fun crazy wild teacher, a female version of Flitwick, Cross is a stern bad-ass, like McGonagall. She was in the peace corps, and has lived everywhere basically. English this year should be good.

anyway, we talked about the Odyssey today, as it was our summer reading, and she was like "believe me, every one of you will spend your time in the House of the Dead" and then I realized that I totally have been living there the past week or so.

So now that I've acknowledged this and related it to something literary, things are starting to look up.


Kat finished drawing my tattoo and gave it to me today. It's going to be so brilliant. Even my mom thinks it's cool. Time-turners and more HP references F.T.W!!!!!

I have some pretty harsh senioritis, already. In APUSH she was reading the rules out, and I got the feeling that I could just ignore it, because I'm a senior and the rest of these schmucks are sophomores and juniors. I know that's not true, it's just how I felt. and all day at school felt like I was watching it through a lens, like I was a documentarist and just there to observe. Almost like I blended in, which, in most of my (three?) classes today, I did.

after art we had lunch, and Amy and Kat and I had homemade jello mold and sushi on the curb. it was a grand little picnic. then I took Amy's car to J&B, and read while Alex and Rod played Mafia Wars, and I could have sworn it was summer still. Then I picked up Katharine when her class was over and we went to the abandoned ware-houses. More summery things. Then after school Katharine and Henry and I went swimming, and oh god it was brilliant. I'd been outside basically since 1250 this afternoon and the water was perfect and relaxing and amazing. I didn't even feel like I'd gone to school.

Then I came home and napped.

This could be a good year.
