Internet weaning?
Sunday. 12.17.06 1:09 pm
Hi-di-ho, all. Just making a random post.

I've not been online (aside from WoW after 8,9 o'clock) much becuase I am trying to wean myself off of using the internet every second of my free time. I'm aware I use it too much, so I'm doing other things to occupy my time. Primarily knitting currently. I'm also gonna get backon the ball with working out now that my arm is not as retarded. We'll see how that goes later.

Home has been pretty good. Pleasntly dull as usual. As I said, mostly louging around doing what I want. I haven't even been bothered about getting up at noon. Hehe. I need to cut that out though.

But yes, not much else. I got to NJ on thursday until X-mas eve. I'm leaving my laptop home this time, else I'd be on it all the time, and would feel awkward, so I'll just be knitting and reading. I think I might get at least one scarf done while I am up there. I hope so, becuase one of the ones I am making is a birthday gift for my mom.

And on that note, back I go to knitting. Have good holidays!

Oops
Friday. 12.15.06 1:27 am
So... I kinda hit a car today.

It was nothing bad, promise. I bumped the back left bumper of his new car with the front right bumper of my old ass metal Corisca. Apparently I bent his bumper in towards the wheel well. I don't think so, but the insurance can sort it out now.

In other news, I appear to have B's in all of my classes so far.. Shoulda had an A in Computer Engineering, but a got a 68 on the test . WTF? Oh well.

Anyway, that's all. Back to WoW.

Tired.. but it be break time!
Thursday. 12.14.06 1:28 am
Huzzah! Exams are done! Looks like I should end with mainly Bs with and A and C tossed in. And it is now break time! Woo!

Also, I got more good news! I got an offical letter offering a job at a paper mill in Georgetown, SC! 2100 a month pay with 500 monthly living expenses! So, I am thrilled! Another plus, it's half an hour from Myrtle Beach, which is one of my favorite places, nice beaches and shopping! I haven't been to the ocean in about 2-3 years, so I am psyched. I start in May.

But yeah, not much else to say. I am tired, so I am going to watch a movie and knit until I pass out. Byebye!

<-- Is not too bright sometimes.

Howdy all. It's noon, and I just woke up. Why, might you ask? Because I am a genius and staying up until 6 am on an exam week sounds like an awesome idea to me.

It was an interesting event.. most of my time last night was spent in an instance, which. for those of you not familiar with MMOs, is kind of like a dungeon in something like Zelda, and usually done in groups of 5. Anyhow, I was in this instance 3 times. Why? Oh-ho! Let me tell you! (Warring-LONG game related bitching below.)

The first time wasn't too bad. Now, one main downside I will note here, is this was my first time doing this particular instance, so I don't know what I am looking for, both in direction to go and this one plant I had to find. Now, the first time through, I was getting a bit miffed, seeing everyone else finding this one item that needed to be scavenged, but once I said something, everyone was nice enough to show me what it looked like and let me get some. Then, about 1/4 of the way in, half of the people left, leaving us too small a party to go on.

Me and the one remaining guy made our way outside, and the plan was to get a new group and wait right outside the instance. Well, I ended up having to restock some supplies, and clear bag space, so I headed back to town. On the way back, I was able to amass a whole group, and we made our way towards the instance entrance, which is filled with pretty strong creatures.

A note... at this time, our party level was somewhere in a 19-24 range, which is good for this place. As we were going in, a level 15 priest, who is a little too low of level, comes up and starts bitching at me for an invite. I apologized, and told her we were full, which she proceeded to piss and moan about for about 7 minutes, before realizing we were not going to kick a level 20 off the team just to have an aggro magnet priest. Well, with my luck.. as we reached the instance, the dude I had been with before logs out. So now the party is like "Get the priest!" The LAST thing I wanted to do was get Ms. Undead Whiny Pants, but I did anyway. In after note, it was a decent decision.

Anyhow, we go in. I didn't tell them, but I think I fucked up the instance by being in there earlier, because the one boss wasn't there. Hehe, oops. So, we get to killing and moving through. Now, let me give you a name I will use here on out. Kinh was a orc rogue, level 20 or so. Don't remember, I was too busy yelling at him. Cause he pissed me off a li

One thing I started noticing was Kinh picking up the one quest item I mentioned earlier. Now, this was annoying because 1. the item is hard to see and 2. being a hunter, I stay back from the fight, and thus, behind the rest of the group as we would move forward, so I would not see them until someone was getting them. After him getting a ton of these things (they're few and far between), I mentioned it in chat, and he stopped grabbing them all. Not that I got many. Anyhow, we kept going without much issue, expect Kinh started grabbing the item again. I just yelled at my screen instead.

Skip to heading to the last boss. Remember me mentioning this being my first time here? Yeah. I didn't know there was a considerable gap at one area. So who falls down? I do! So the priest drops down to lead me, being oddly enough, the only one to know the way. As we're running, Kinh manages to aggro, or get the attention, everything in the area where the rest of the party was, getting them all killed. Several minutes and another leading of a team member back to the boss area, we get to the last boss, or one of them. I'll pass on explaining that. Now, as we're fighting, we get the boss killed before the rest of the stuff. And a rare bow comes up for roll. I actually stopped watching the fight to check stats. In fact, everyone but the priest did. And guess who got killed? Yep, the priest, who proceeded to bitch at us about looking at the bow. Hey, in my defense, the bow is my primary weapon, and finding a decent one on a drop is rare. So, we waited for the priest to get back to us, and then went to take on another boss, who killed us all in less than 30 seconds. So, that was the end of that group.

It was also the end of the annoyance. My higher level friend then ran me through to finish a few more quests, which nabbed me some more nice items. Huzzah.

So aside from screaming at my computer periodically, I did have fun, and was quite accomplished!

Now, time to study for my test that is in 3 hours. Whoo! See you all later!

Woo! New Layout!
Sunday. 12.10.06 7:16 pm
Yeah, I decided to mod the 4Seasons layout. Not a whole lot of code differences.. just mainly tweaked the images and text colors. Do you like? I hope so. And if you have some serious issue with something, like you can't see it, or it's interfering, let me know so I can try to remedy it.

Anyway, just for all of those types, with the exception of the banner at the top and kinda the background, these aren't my images, nor do I claim them to be mine. If you have issue with any of these images, please contact me and it will be removed, mmk?

And a fun fact.. no, I did not ramdomly draw squiggles on the banner, nor is it arabic. It's a alphabet from the Myst/Uru series, the D'ni language. Those are just the letters, and not actual words. Neat lookin', eh?

Anyhow, time to study more Ent 2004 so I can play WoW with only a little guilt.

See ya!

P.S. I think I'm getting the hang of this break thing.

What is this old, yet familar place? Also, ARM STORY
Sunday. 12.10.06 12:20 am
Well, it has been a while, but I feel like getting some blogging out there. Hooray.

As you can see, My name is Heather, I'm 20, blah blah blah. I got to college, I'm poor(-ish), and I take alot of tests. Whoopdeedoo. Im still recovering from a fun injury, which I suppose could make my first super fun blog post(tm)!

So, I am female, and an engineer. I suppose that could give you a rough estimate of my strength. Which is not alot, especially in my arms. I also live in a dorm filled with female engineers. Imagine my surprise when the chose site of a team building activity for my dorm is to do the Corp Obstacle Course, which is for the military dorm people on our campus. Now, this course is almost entirely comprised of arm even, such as pulling ourselves up, or jumping and grabbing a bar. Now if you can stand a little deviation, I need to give a small bit of background to the following event. I take Tae Kwon Do. We do spar (though I still have not had the chance, thanks to both my belt level and said injury), and so we have a lesson or two on how to properly fall, which for Tae Kwon Do involves rolling onto my back and slapping the ground to distribute the force of the fall.

Now, just before the second obstacle, the corp people instructed us on another falling method, which is perfectly sound, which simply involves (to the best of my recollection) holding your arms to your body and letting yourself fall sideways onto the ground. Now, I climbed onto a wooden log structure, I'd guess between 2 and 3 feet from the ground, and looked forward to a bar about 8 feet or so in the air, maybe 9 or 10, I suck at height estimation, BTW. Anyhow, I was to jump out, grab said bar, and use some other bars to shimmy down to a log at the end. So, after getting my nerves at the thought of jumping out a few feet and grabbing a bar, I just did it (tm Nike?). Well, fat lot of good it really did me. To my credit, I grabbed the bar, but for maybe a second, and only with my fingers, where I slipped. The exact thought process was lost on me, but somewhere my mind said the logical reaction to falling was not to obey the two methods of falling I knew, but to instead stick my hands out behind me as I fell, ass and back first as I fell down, to catch myself. Note to all, NEVER DO THIS. I have a feeling I got lucky, simply dislocating my elbow.

I wasn't sure what had happened at first. I managed to sit up, quickly, and went to move my arms to check myself. Left arm, came up right away. Right arm, however, just gave a lamwe twitch and a dull feeling. My reaction: "Oh god! I broke my arm! I think I broke my arm!" I proceeded to freak out for about half a minute, then realized this did not feel half as bad (currently) than my normal monthly session of death cramps, so I calmed down and sat there, trying to not move my arm as the corp guys made sure I was not going to pass out, and contacted my housing director, one of their higher ups (might have been a general), and the hospital. Apparently people could tell by looking at that it was deformed. I had no such luck at seeing it, but I knew it was there. I eventually got moved out of the way of everyone else, and was soon in the ambulance. Oh, for fun, here’s a pic of me in the ambulance.

I know, I look like shit. I didn’t even realize I looked this bad until I saw it myself. Anyhow, I got hurried to the hospital, that dang air cast making my arm sorer as they went, and I chose to forgo morphine, like the genius I am. So, I soon reach the hospital, giving the people what info I could as I laid there. Soon, a doctor, an intern doctor, I think, and a nurse, were there getting ready to set my arm. Now, I was given morphine and valium. You’d think that’d be enough. Well.. I bet it was, but I don’t think they waited long enough. Now, my arm had been in a mostly straight position for a while, and the doctor took my wrist, and moved my arm so it was perpendicular to my upper arm. This was not pleasant. After a yelp, I asked “Could you wait for a few more minute, I don’t think the drugs have kicked in yet…” His response, like the caring doctor he was. “Nope, hold her arm.” So with the inter holding me down and the nurse trying to keep me still, he proceeded to fix my arm, much to my disagreement at the time, the yelling interrupted by the occasional strong curse, one of which the nurse asked if I remembered saying as I was being dismissed. All the same, I think I passed out while they set it. And that’s about all I have to say about my arm, for now, as I’m sure I’ve bored you all to death and back. Yes, I am totally a necromancer.

So, my arm is mostly fine... still not 100% yet, but getting there, after about 3 months since the injury. Anyway, I’ll shut up on that note. This blog is back, with less spelling errors(hopefully..)

See ya!
