You know, for being such a filthy old city, Philadelphians are the most germaphobic people I've ever met in my life. I'm really tired of being called disgusting. I'm a decently clean human being. I shower, I brush, I wipe my ass, I don't have fleas or scabbies, and I'm not acrid, but it almost caused a fight in class the other day. Let me just say, some people are REALLY lucky I'm patient when I want to be. Now, to get the context of my argument, we were discussing the lack of laundry facilities in Dallas when we're there for two weeks. It's not impossible to do laundry during our tenure there, just extremely unlikely half the time, so I recommended Fabreeze. No, not for underwear, socks, or even pants...but shirts. Also remember, we're SITTING all day in a room thats easily 50 degrees in the summertime. We're not doing anything strenuous or sweat inducing. The tone and sneer alone were enough to tempt me to lunge myself across the table at her uptight little "holier-than-thou" face, but I didn't. I stated my case, and was in turn deemed "non-hygeinic". Princess, I don't know what you imagine you'll be handling out there on the tarmac, but I assure you it won't be Dial soap and Purell. I don't know what her and her neighbour there think happens to your body when you're sitting in a comfortable environment all day not even perspiring, but Christ on a cracker! We're not in Chernobyl! Honestly, has any other West Coast transplant encountered this? Seriously, if you'd lived the way I have at times, you'd understand that laundry everyday is a luxury. I've lived through droughts, energy crisis, $8 loads of laundry, and worse, and so far I haven't been consumed by any flesh-eating bacterias. Whatever, I'm done fighting about it. If you want to call me gross and disgusting, whatever. I'm pretty sure wearing a shirt twice before I wash it isn't going to bring the plague to Dallas, TX.

Anywho, today Chris and I headed out to run some errands. We replaced the frying pan I've had since I lived on Walnut St, and I got a few new nice shirts to wear until I get my uniforms. We also scored Season One of Who's Line is it Anyway, uncensored. Wooo! I love me some improv comedity! Speaking of which, it's back on! I'll be back a bit later!

day off!
Saturday. 3.3.07 11:04 pm
Today was a nice, relaxing day. Chad bought us Chinese for dinner, and we watched a couple movies ( Underworld Evolution and Flags of our Fathers) I really liked Flags of our Fathers. As a photographer, the premise of the movie really locked me in. Tomorrow we've got some things to accomplish, but it won't be too bad. I'm sleepy. My body's gotten used to going to bed at 9pm...but I want to watch SNL dammit!

goodbye my crepuscular commute!
Friday. 3.2.07 7:39 pm
thanks GODS the next 2 weeks wont be 8am shifts anymore.

Today proved rather interesting, as we near closer and closer to not only a full moon, but an eclipse as well. There's been this guy the last few days who follows me. I guess he's about my age, whatever. Today he finally got the nerve to talk...he shouldn't have. I sat on the bench to wait for the train to pull up, and he decides to sit next to me. Fine, free country, public place. Then he gives me "the eyes" and asks, "So, how you doin'?" "I'm alright." "yeah?" "yeah" and I figure this is the end of the thus far enlightening conversation, but this is really where it all takes a fatal turn for the worst. "you're pregnant, huh?" "hah! no" and a look of "oh shit!" crosses his face. Once again, I figure this is where our exhilerating exchange should be allowed to die instead of being scraped along the pavement. However, he persists, "oh, I just had to say that" What!? I love being reminded I'm fat and disporportionate first thing in the morning. Thanks! Luckily, the train saved me, as did the newly battery plugged mp3 player on loan from Chris this morning.
Work itself went alright. I feel slightly guilty that I may have given Justin the plague. I guess that's what happens to people in my general vicinity. Pestilence. I got my training shift for the two weeks prior to flying out to Dallas. I'll be getting home late, but for now I can manage that better than I can manage being up at 4am.
The trains got me home relatively quickly, and I started my walk home since Chris has practice tonight. That's when things get...well, predictable really. Guess who shows up? Yeah....Him. He speedwalks to catch up with me and slows to even my pace. Great...now we play the social game. "So where you go that early in the morning" "work." "wow, I come to work now and leave in the morning." "that's great." Then the slough of usual questions, like a stupid Myspace survey. "So, how old are you? You live around here? You single?" He was disappointed to find out I am not in fact single, and followed with the obligatory, "he better treat you well...if not, you let me know!" Ya, sure, I'll be right on that. pfft!

thank god it's friday!

day 4!
Thursday. 3.1.07 8:01 pm
today we got to tour the back end of the airport (which im always happy to do) and shadow our respective departments (which was an educational experience for at least my shadowee). i didn't have a fever this morning, but my cough is still alarmingly similar to pneumonia.

other than that, ive felt a slow decline the past couple days. today it hit me, and i let myself just have a day. not a bad day, really, just an emotional day. lunchtime hit me like a wrecking ball, so i isolated myself and just sat with my thoughts. it wasn't a day for conclusions, just thoughts and emotions, which is fine.

thats really it...maybe more later...but i highly doubt it...one more day to survive before the weekend of sleep...tomorrow we get our training assignments. weeee.
