Lift My Veil
Sunday. 6.1.08 3:27 am
Lift my veil around me
I am gasping for breath for bounty of days and nights
Soothe my feelings that I cannot forshake
The hand of death is rocking my cradle.

I will pray pray to God for the last time
I will worship his blessings for me
Everything has scattered my senses by a slumbering soul.

Pointing Fingers, Politically
Sunday. 6.1.08 2:04 am
I just feel surprised when some people point fingers at me. I have never joined any political party like them. I never join them shouting slogan at slogan at the top of their voice. They wonder why? I wonder when I ask them what for as such they are shouting slogan and I do not get any plausible answer from them. They wonder why I keep shy of any partisan politics. I tell them that I am politically apolitical.

My politics is not to join their politics which is nothing but getting some easy and immediate inducement from it. One day I saw one of them leading a street corner and delivering a speech against US imperialism. I know him as one accepting grafts from various sources and he is against imperialism! What is imperialism to him and his followers? Do these guys know what political conviction is? Or, what political conviction is? To them, politics is fulfilling some self-interest. Politics, to me, is more than life and it is self-conviction to cherish for life. I will never join them and I will never condone their politics. I will keep aloof from their political party. And I will remain politically apolitical.

Socrates' Way of Cross Examining
Saturday. 5.31.08 1:19 pm
Socrates has been charged by Meletus for corrupting the minds of the young of Athens and for inventing new gods of his own invention and imagination instead of the recognised by the state. In answering to these charges brought against, he jokingly asked Meletus whether he really exercised the best of influence on the young or it was somebody else who really had that power over them.

Here Socrates applied his usual way of cross-examining (elenchus) which involves the interlocutor to convince the other that he does not really know what he initially supposed to know and this way his argument was refuted. By a series of questions he led Meletus to say that it was the citizenry of Athens as a whole except Socrates that led the young astray.

On another occasion he applied his method against Euthyphro triumphantly. He offered himself to learn from Euthyphro who prosecuted his own father for murdering one of his servants the distinction between piety and impiety. Eythyphro said that piety is like prosecuting the unjust, those who have committed wrong like murder and sacrilege and bringing the unjust to book. And on the other hand, impiety is a gross violation like failure and unwillingness to prosecute the wrong-doers. Eythyphro also said that piety is what is pleasing to the gods.

Socrates rejected his idea on the plea that the gods do not always see eye to eye with one another in attitudes concerning the acts of human beings and at the same time is not the right thing to say that the pious is what all the gods en bloc love for the particular issue concerns the nature of piety by virtue of which all the gods love it. If piety is tendering due attention to the gods by way of prayer and worship with a view to getting benevolence for man, the piety seems to be the pet thing of the gods even though it is of no consequence to the gods but this goes against the claim that piety is good not because that that gods love it. At this Eythyphro started complaing that Socrates will not allow his statements “to stand still” by his questioning in perpetuity and in the end Euthyphro was forced to drop anchor by saying that he no longer knew what to say.

What The Heck?
Saturday. 5.31.08 12:45 pm
Oh! It is hell of a time. Nothing works, nothing comes good. You want this or that but you won’t get, sure. If nothing works, nothing comes good, what the hell of a life it is. A hell of a life. Yes, it is hell of a life. Life does not move. Life cannot carry on. Has it come to a stand still? This is not life, this not death. Death also has its own face but this life has no flesh and blood. Oh, what a life it is! Nobody can bear with it. Nobody can sustain it. What sort of life it is. It is amazing that life is no amazing. Life has become death and life has died. Life has died unheard and unsung. Nobody has cared to buried it. It is lying dead by death. Death has taken over. Death is ruling. Life is ruled, life is ruled by death. It is a vicious circle.

Every Passing Day : A Monologue
Saturday. 5.31.08 8:54 am
The day is passing. Every passing day numbers my days. Are the days numbered? I count and I keep on counting, counting the number of days passing me every now and then. What happens when the days are numbered. I do not know, I do not know. Only I know that the days are numbered. Whose days are numbered? Whose days are passing on? Is it mine? Is it me whose days are numbered? Life counts the days. And death counts the days. They keep on counting, counting the number of days. They assure me and I remain assured.

I remain assured. I remain assured of my long waiting. Long waiting for the Godo? Godo never comes. He only goes, he never comes. He keeps me waiting. I remain waiting . Waiting and assured. Godo will come one day. One day he will come, sure. I remain assured and waiting. The bell tolls. I keep waiting, waiting and assured. For whom the bell tolls? It is for me. For me.

One Dimensional Man
Saturday. 5.31.08 7:42 am
The fundamental idea of Herbert Marcuse’s One Dimensional Man is his express wish to get out of the clutches of science and technology which has over the years has carried its vengeance on the human society. The technology of advanced industrial societies has enabled the human beings fight sigh of the conflicts of dissenting voices by assimilating all those who in the earlier form and texture of social order gave ample voices of dissent and diverse dimension of human beings and thus creating a universe of unity in diversity.

Technology does this partly creating a state of material affluence and prosperity in a plethora of ways. It was a good riddance of sorts. Freedom from material wants which both Marx and Marcuse himself took for granted as the necessary precondition of all sorts of freedoms in spirit and letter has drastically transformed into an agency or vehicle for producing to a state of servitude to the culture materialistic propensity, a servitude which has never been in evidence in human history and a departure from humanities.

By fulfilling and catering to man’s rapacious needs, their reasons for dissent and protest are brutally subverted and thus the become the easy tools and instruments of the dominating system, a system of power over the people.
