hehe, all this hype about 2046 in singapore, but i have already watched it in HK, its really good, all the cinemagraphy and the editing. I have always loved wong kar wai's films. I should have bought the whole range of them at the HMV. you have to be rather dopey and artistic to appreciate his flims i guess.

we watched "old boy", a korean film on saturday. Its rather different from the usual korean films, like my sassy girl. Its about vengence and it has a slight twist to it. I thought it was pretty alright. the girl in the movie is cute!

I am anxiously waiting for Xmas to arrive. (yes, again!) sub consciously i am humming, its beginning to look alot like christmas. thinking about xmas trees and ornaments, hmm lovely!

For all those who have been anticipating my pictures from hong kong, i am terribly sorry but i am simply to lazy to upload all of them. there are like almost 200 pictures! but i did a little montage of us in HK. well, ermm its more of ME in HK, rather than the scenery. hee! feel free to visit me, i shall show you my album.

I am kinda missing the food in HK, we tried lots of food there, wanton mee, buns, curry fishballs, curry rice, roasted goose, century eggs with preserved ginger, bean curd with black sesame paste, bean curd with yam, western food, dim sum, har gao, gou bu li, and this fasinating drink which i am now craving for, called mango song (in cantonese). Its got this jello thingy, then filled with mango puree? then they top it with coconut milk. and its has lots of chunky mango in it! yeah it sounds yucky perhaps but its really good!

we walked alot during our five days trip, up and down steps in the MTR, up and down the slopes, in and out of shopping centres, but the best thing of all was the weather. it was bright and sunny, but the cold winds were of 23 degrees and most of the locals were dressed in cardigans and suits. its really a good weather to be walking around.

we went to shenzhen by train and even ventured out into the streets without any map, all you need is a good memory and remember landmarks, that way you wont get lost. I am pretty good at that! :P

what disturbed me most in shenzhen was the beggars on the streets. There were old men without both limbs, women with babies, and the worst of them all was this woman carrying her son of about 5 years old and she was eating rice out of the trash can. that was so sad!

the good thing about HK is that you can sleep late & wake up late! (very me!) the shops do not close till about 12am, and the illegal hawkers with their pushcarts only appear at 12am, the shops stay open till late and they open at 11am the next day. how cool is that for shopping!

I wanna go back there again! probably next year. there are so many things i have not tasted and so many things i have not done, I must save up now for my next trip! :)

i'm back!! and i hate this place

cross my heart, i will be going back to hong kong next year! with alot more money and better walking shoes! my feet are dead with from all the walking in my converse shoes. I wished i had brought my flip flops instead.

It was a GREAT experience! me conversing in cantonese, rude taxi drivers, people who filled the streets like ants even on 2pm in the afternoon, paying $20 to watch 2046 there (but it was well worth the money!), paying 50 cents to take the star ferry to HK island, taking the super long escalator at central, taking the MTR to shenzhen, lunch (kou bu li) at shenzhen, really poor mother and kid eating rice out of the trash bin :(, beggers with no legs, rude waitresses..

My mind is filled with all these memories which i think i will never forget. A few more times there and i will be able to give you precise instructions on where to go. I felt like i have been there before, i knew what was where and where has what. probably it was due to the wonderful information i got from all my helpful friends before we went.

and 1 reminder, do not complain again when you walk in that dumb underpass from plaza singapura to the mrt station HK's underpass from the mtr to the trains are like 5 times longer than that! and appreciate escalators here, cos their train stations have more stairs than my flat's.

I am still in a deja vu, everywhere i go in singapore, people still seem to be speaking cantonese. yesterday i thought i heard someone speaking cantonese and when i turned around, it was a malay couple. :P

I am gonna save up ALOT and go there next year!

i will be back with more of my adventures and pics! gotta run now! choy kin!

Tuesday. 9.28.04 12:35 pm
yes yes!! the long awaited day is getting closer by the hours and minutes! i can't wait to go! :) i wonder how is it going to be there. feeling kind of lost since its our first time there.. oh well, i guess the maps will help.

Sorry i haven't been able to chat much as i am trying to clear my shite before i go away and i guess its almost done for now! I haven't even packed! i am in a fluster! LOL

enough of my excitement.. i got "cheated" yesterday of my $10! There was this man who came to sell some discount cards for Madam Saigon. A restrauant at far east. and i am mad at him! not because of the $10 but because...

middle age man: hallo miss. *then looks at me* are you local?

me: yes, i am

middle age man: U sure arh? U look taiwanese leh!

me: I am definately Singaporean !

(see, yet again, a new country that i belong to. I look like a hong kee, vietnamese, filipino, but never a singaporean)

middle age man: ohh, really dont look like leh. anyway can you help me buy this? $10 only! *explains about the discount vouchers etc...*

me: err, no thank u lah, i don't eat at these places.

middle age man: buy lah, $10 only, your neighbour bought 5. *bullocks* i want to go home already, last one leh. THANK U

me: (-___-)''' no lah, i really dont want

middle age man: then can u call your husband out? *points inside*

me: HUSBAND? where? that's my FATHER-IN- LAW lah! do i look that old?!

middle age man: ohh sorry sorry ah! i thought ....

(did you think that rog's dad is some rich ah pek that married a young wife from china ah!)

me: *irritated* ok ok, i will buy ur "blardy coupon"

middle age man: thank U! u working ah?

me: yes, i just came back from work.

middle age man: ohhh! i thought you in army one.

(i was wearing my army print bermudas)

me: hallo?! i am a girl, why do i need to go to the army!! (-____0)'''

I don't know if i should laugh or cry. but its pretty funny! :P and i told rog about it, he was laughing his lungs out.

He said i should have told him, uncle! if i wear a ultra man tshirt means i am ultra man lah!

I must go try out the coupons, if they don't work, i will make sure the coupons land up at the police station. hehehe

alright, back to work. enjoy your weekend peeps!

happy birthday to pam!!

thank u all for your birthday greetings! i didn't do much on my birthday, just went home for a home cooked meal. I guess at this age, there are more important things than birthdays. ;)

I will be away on thursday morning! and i am going to the pearl of the orient. go figure~

I am on a budget trip, but what matters most is that its a trip away from singapore!! not that i hate my own country, but its so small i hardly have the space to breathe, no where to escape to when i need to find solance.

bon anniversaire to pam in advance!! i won't be in singapore for your birthday. :P have a great birthday bash!

come to think of it, most of my friends all have birthdays around the same time as me & most of my anniversaries are in september, so its quite easy to remember

candy - 18 sept
my rom day - 20 sept
michelle - 28 sept (my parent's wedding anniversary as well!)
pam - 1st oct
nic - 4th oct
bb - 31st oct

anyways... i finally watched the french movie Les Choristes yesterday. It was dim in colour and didn't look so interesting at first, but as the movie went, i totally forgot about trying to understand what they were saying in french and was totally engrossed in the movie. its really GOOD! its GREAT! and it has my 5 BIG stars! go watch it or you will regret it! i must get the DVD when its out.

ok, got to go bathe jolie now. later peeps

Xmas!
Saturday. 9.25.04 12:16 pm
i am nuts, i am actually looking forward to christmas, everytime my birthday comes, i remember christmas, i actually love christmas more than my birthday. its pretty easy to remember actually, just 3 months on this day, it will be christmas. :)

i don't know why, probably it was my upbringing in a catholic family, i have always love that season. How wonderful if we even have snow! carols, lights, christmas trees, awww.... I am always the first to bring out the christmas tree and decorate it, i will put up my christmas tree in nov, and my mom says i am nuts. i can;t help it, i just love it. christmas puts a smile to my face. :)

people know i am christmas crazy, i got a birthday greeting saying, happy birthday! are you counting down to christmas yet? hehee

====================================================

i was out with my french class mate last thursday. its was my first time i went into hermes! geez, i probably cant even afford to buy their wrapping paper. everything costs at least 1K and above.

then we went to che che awwww they have such cute clubbing bags! In a shape of a cat, or butterfly and even a dog. I swear even the silver flower shape bag looked good on me. but the price tag was way ridiculous. it was $500+

my friend bought 2 sweaters, one with a french girl on a vespa by the eiffel tower and the other one with sheeps. I asked her if she would be holding a 2nd hand sale when she got sick of them.

We had a good talk at olio wheelock, i enjoyed talking to her and i discovered we had quite alot of things in common. she loved collecting boxes like me, we love flower arrangement, we love BAGS (ok, which woman doesnt) we just clicked. I had fun!

by the way, the french film fest is coming!! go get your tickets! they are either showing at orchard cineplex or at my school, alliance francais. get them while they are still available!
