easter part 2
Tuesday. 3.25.08 1:11 pm
Easter itself was a day and a half. We had the baby in the morning, which was wonderful. It took us 23 out of 24 eggs to teach him to put them int he basket..and 1 out of 24 eggs plus a Peep to teach him how to open them...let me tell you..baby+marshmallow= hilarious. Dinner was yummy, after dinner not so yummy, but hey, I felt at home. Played a few games of pool and got to meet Ryan's other sister before things went downhill and we made our escape. We headed to the movies to see Bucket List (which I really liked) and Horton Hears a Who! (Yay double freeture) which was cute.

Since the other day our energies have been crazy. Not bad crazy, just different in a lot of ways. I'm still ruminating on the topic at hand, but I'm a little more decided about it I guess. it'll take some time...and there will be a post on it soon to get more thoughts out.

More job hunting today....weeeeeeee.....

ostara
Saturday. 3.22.08 9:52 pm
We ended up spending the night at JD's the other night..which started my week of little to no sleep...
got errands and such run..ALMOST done...
job hunting for hubby.
lots of screaming from both ends.

last night we had an egg dying party at Rich's to prep for today's Ostara get together.
fisheye wine is alright.
stromboli was better.
lots of fun ensued.

Ostara today was wonderful. They're a great group of people, and I hope we can get to better know them.
was given food for thought, which I will post about when I've had time to consider it all.
sometimes brutal truth is the best advice.

Ryan's out at a birthday party with the rest, while I'm working on winding down so I can sleep.
Early am tomorrow...
Yay Easter!
go find some eggs!

top o the...what time is it anyway?
Wednesday. 3.19.08 1:32 am
Man...I don't think I ever made a weekend update post, but here we go...stay with me, kids, it's gonna be a journey...

Friday night we got a hotel room to celebrate. Hotels.com kinda botched the roll, and there was no jacuzzi tub, but we did have a room suite to play in. Late night lead into early morning and another SCA event, so we strapped ourselves into garb and headed out to Blue Bell. The event was pretty nice. It was a bunch of workshops and such, and I came home with a couple new sharp things. Not bad aside from the killer migraine I was nursing all day. That lead to home and nap and movie. Sunday we headed out to see the baby, which was great since I haven't had a chance to see him in over two months. After that we headed out to our usual game night. Our campaign wrapped up a bit earlier than I'd have liked, since I was going to be the next character to get to delve really deep into herself. It frustrated me a little bit....well ok, a lot.

Monday I tried to let Ryan sleep in as long as possible in anticipation for last night. I got up between dozing offs to check on corned beef and cabbage, woke him up about 1, we ate and headed out to Bally's for St Paddy's Day celebration after a brief pit stop to dye hubby's hair green. There will be pictures as soon as I can figure out how to download pics from the point and shoot. Here's where the main event begins.

We pull up to tent full of green. There's music, there's beer, there's mayhem. The boys acquire a pitcher of Guinness a piece, and I wander off to find a mixed drink featuring something strong. There's a girl wandering about with tiny shots of green stuff that tasted like citrus drunk in a cup. I get to pet a giant leprechaun's fuzzy hat, and here I win my first button. There's more drinking, I develop a taste for Guinness (as much as anyone can evolve to a taste for vomit) cut with sips of my 7/7, and the dancing continues. Sex and beer wins me some glowy beads, and a promise of tits wins me a second set. The drunk continues on the boys' part, and I develop a good buzz plus whatever I can soak up from the energies of the tent...which means I'm at least psychologically drunk. More dancing, more crazy, get hit on by a couple guys, hit on a couple girls, have a blast with the boys. The drinking ends with Ryan spitting green beer into some guys ear because he gave him a wet willy. We'd been ready to leave anyway, and who really plans on drinking green beer? Hubby gets flagged, I finish my several flavours of vodka mixer, and we head home where, as always, there's craziness until there's insta-coma.

Unfortunately the insta-coma HATES to be broken unnaturally...also unfortunately I had a doctor appointment today at 9:45, so we got up at 7 and drove home. After a long, stressful afternoon and a really bad hour or two, we both fell asleep until about an hour ago when I got up to check email. I'm pretty sure I'm climbing back into bed in a few minutes ad we're just sleeping until tomorrow.

The good news is I should be able to go back (hopefully) to work around the first of the month! Thank gods! Now we just have to work on finding Ryan a job, and some of out stress will be alleviated.

ok, back to recooperating...

birthday weekend!
Tuesday. 3.11.08 7:20 pm
Friday started Ryan's birthday weekend, and boy did we need it, but first let me tell you....

Thursday we got our marriage license, and the nerds in us have decided to have it officiated on Friday...which happens to be Pi Day! So while our handfasting date has ridiculous timing...this will have a much better spot on the calendar. We will have a traditional wedding when we can afford it. I've gne back and forth on it, but decided in the end that i will be changing my name. It'll make it a little more difficult to keep it from families, but I think it'll be ok. It does mean, however, that I get to explain things to everyone *I* know...which means we're looking for something at least somewhat shiny for me to wear...it's harder to explain why there was no knowledge of an engagement than why there's still no ring. I don't care if its made of silver with a crystal stone in it...as long as its shiny and fits my left hand.

Thursday was a bit of a long night. It was obvious that no matter how well he did on the final, he was not going to pass AC electronics. I feel really bad about that. No, it wasn't my fault..but I know how much he wanted this.

Friday we felt a bit better. Went to his mom's then out for some drinks Saturday night. Saw the Star Wars exhibit with Rich and Kris Sunday before gaming. It was wonderful!

Yesterday was rough, but we made it through. One final test maybe? Who knows. Today I had an appointment and he had some stuff to do, so I haven't seen him all day... I miss him :( come home soon!

I've gained so much weight being home my winged heart ring doesn't fit again, and that makes me sad...I haven't been this heave in about 2 years...ugh! i feel gross...

But before he does....nap.

on fencing and being broke
Thursday. 2.28.08 4:33 pm

Fencing last night was great once I actually got to play. I notice they engage Ryan more. I don't want to say it's because he's male. More likely it's because he's more vocal and pestering. In any case, I felt ignored for the first half of the night. I stayed close by absorbing as much as I could, but there's only so much point control practice you can do before I start to feel like the retarded kid in the corner. Once I did finally get to play it was a rough start, but I noticed a slight improvement by the time we were done. I need gear that fits though. Colin says I've got "promise". That makes me feel really good, since I wasn't even sure anyone was paying attention. Merrick says he can see the "fencer inside trying to get out." He seemed a bit nervous when I told him we'd tried that but it kept eating the other kids. hah.

Anywho, so that's about it. Picking up a few hours at the diner Chris and Chad work at. I'm down to only a few dollars for myself...and dammit I was supposed to do my taxes today, but I had to escort Ryan's laptop to ITT because he left it at home. Gah! This was supposed to be my full day to get shit done! Where did it go!?!

so broke
Tuesday. 2.26.08 8:44 pm
This weekend we spent moving Ryan's things out of storage and the trailer and into a storage unit of our own. This is officially the first edifice we've acquired together! It all started Saturday morning with his mom picking us up here and taking us to go get the Budget truck. Most of you know I will never use UHaul again after the Lansdale move, and I stuck to that. We got the truck and started to clear the shed. Of course, we picked the day it decides to snow to be outside in the elements. I tried to help as best I could, but I still can't lift anything over 20lbs, so I really was little to no help at all. The plan was 1. empty shed. 2. empty storage. 3. bring his ex's stuff back from storage and put in shed. What really took place was 1. empty shed. 2. get truck stuck in snow. 3. almost take out neighbour's deck trying to get truck out of snow. 4. realize the place we're renting a unit from closes their office at 1730 and we have no keys! At this point Ryan has his mom drive me back to Philly to get the key to the storage unit and he and a few helping hands work on unsticking the truck and accomplishing the rest of their goals. I stay home and pack some boxes, the idea being to get as much of MY stuff as possible also into the unit to avoid moving day chaos as much as possible in May. Ryan makes it back with the truck, and he, Rich, Kris, and I fill the truck with as much of my stuff as we can and head out. We make it to the storage unit 30 minutes before they'd warned me the gates would lock us in, and we pushed it to the very last second before we tore out of there like we were on fire. We did, indeed, make it out before being trapped inside. Unfortunately Ryan and I still had an hour or so left fort he next day. My sincere gratitude, however, to Rich and Kris for all their help, especially to Rich for driving the truck when Ryan's legs started to severely cramp.

Sunday was a mess not really worth narrating. There were a few key points though. After maneuvering the 15' truck through a serpentine Taco Bell Drive-Thru (my baby gets an award!), we returned the truck and headed to Center City to look at an apartment building. After going to the wrong building (oops!) we found the one we wanted where they handed us a binder of mostly outdated ads for available units. We did find one guy who was rather shadily stalking around the lobby to show us a ratty condo that reeked of formaldehyde and tried to convince us the internet in the business center was better than having internet in our own apartment. While we were in that unit Ryan received a reply from a voice mail he'd left a different leaser. He sent us up to see his unit, and it was absolutely gorgeous. We took one look at it and went "this is our apartment." Now we're waiting for the applications to go through, so everyone send us happy apartment vibes!

Yesterday I took the train out to NYC to audition for the remake of the game show Password. I think I did pretty well! Now I just have to wait for a bunch of execs to decide whether or not I did well. It was a beautiful day in the city. I really wish I'd had more time. I was walking down 5th Ave and I found my ring in a window. Looks like it's going to run us about $12000 if we're actually going to get it. Most likely not. The guy offered to sell it to me for $4500 if I put it on layaway, but I really couldn't see doing that. It was gorgeous though. :) After the audition I got to have dinner with Kiyoko and her beau. It was great to see her! I really wish I could get to NYC more often. She's like my sister and I only see her once a year or so. Meh!

Today I got a bunch of bills and things taken care of. It felt good to be taking steps in the right direction. cat was supposed to come today, but the weather kept her in Chicago. Hopefully she can make it tomorrow.

In any case, I've got some things to accomplish before Ryan gets home.Gnight all!
