i wanna be on the hall of fame! (click ->) []
to get your name up here, read the subject of the latest entry. it's a line from a song, with one word replaced. if you find out which word it is, the name of the song, and who performed it, comment on the post and you'll be added.

for example, if a subject was "slap me baby one more time," you'd know that the real lyrics are "HIT me baby one more time," so you'd comment on the entry saying:

"oh master rick, ruler of mankind! i, your humble servant, have found the true lyrics to the song. HIT, from the song ONE MORE TIME by BRITNEY SPEARS. i only pray that you will show great mercy and bestow upon my worthless self a single point and a mention in the sacred hall of fame. gramercies, oh omnipotent one!"

and i would do just that.

note to self ...
... START SUMMER READING.

...

well, rehearsals went well today. it was blocking, but we still sang. afterwards i asked shannon to teach me how to sing. i feel so bad ... she's trying her hardest to teach me and i can't get it right. she's so nice, though. she even gave me a ride home. i feel like a freeloader. which i am. but oh well.

then i go home and take a nap. i wake up, eat dinner, and talk to someone online. hella drama, one thing leads to another, and it turns into a fight. then that person says they don't want to be my friend anymore. i sorta blamed the break up on ciara, but she's not really to blame. i'm fine with it, i guess. that person's decision.

i think ciara is right. i'm a shit disturber. but hey, it takes two to tango.

edit: well i'm glad that's over. the whole thing is now resolved. to celebrate, let's all play a nice game of el juego de helicóptero! post your personal high scores in the chatterbox.

i saw EVERYONE laughing with delight

okay, you know how some people have bad hair days? well i had a bad singing day.

i guess i had a bad hair day too, but you can't really call it a bad hair DAY, more like a bad hair month or however long it takes for me to outgrow the totally fobbish / elementary school haircut my mother gave me. gee, thanks a lot mom, then after recess i'll make you a thank you card with uncooked macaroni and pipe cleaners.

well, back to the bad singing day. today was another vocal rehearsal, and i just could not hit those damned notes. and pitch was really flat too, patti kept telling me to aim higher. i feel so ... unworthy ... of the part right now. the only song i can sing without cracking is that "glee club rehearsal" one. one song down, five to go.

i know i sound like i'm taking all of this for granted, which i'm not; i'm really grateful for getting the part, it's just that it's a damn lot more work than i thought it would be.

ah, well. i guess it's time for me to get going now. i'm not supposed to be online at this hour. another exciting day of elementary school tomorrow, and i get to do easel painting!

it landed foul on the GREASE
Saturday. 03.07.04 11:10 am
mood: greasy

well, i'm guessing you faithful readers are getting sick of me rambling on about charlie brown, so i'll talk about something else, both having to do with grease. isn't it funny how these things work out?

in drama class (i know, i know, but this is drama CLASS, not the actual musical) we have to do a report on a type of theatre, and my group (jennifer, allen, and harry) chose musical theatre / opera. hey, jennifer can sing really really well. so aside from providing information about it, we have to perform a sample of our type of theatre. we're thinking of either doing "summer nights" or "you're the one that i want", both from grease. except we don't know which one to do. so help me in deciding.

in unrelated news, i've eaten a total of 5.5 bean and cheese quesadillas today. i cooked three of them while i was home alone (my stepdad was out and my mom took the kids to the park; i begged her to let me stay home because i hate going to the stupid park), and the other 2.5 was a result of after-dinner hunger. of course, i'm still in my cook-anything-and-everything-in-a-gallon-of-oil phase, so my fingers feel really greasy. zstxbgf jncmaeiadsfkmnblhsjgkfdfcvjMksldfbg <- that's me trying to wipe the grease off of the keyboard.

^that would be me, if those smileys were greasy quesadillas and that weird white creature was a weird brown creature.

oh, and who noticed the new background music? < raises hand > no one? oh. okay. < slowly lowers hand > well it's metallica, covering the theme song for peanu-- err, the theme song to a somewhat famous tv show.

when the BLOCKHEAD sang for the king and queen
Friday. 03.05.04 11:25 pm
mood: afraid ... ?

first vocal rehearsals today. i've been anticipating them the whole week, but when they finally come, well ...

the first song we sang was "you're a good man, charlie brown". i wasn't in that song, so i just kinda sat there, doing nothing.

then we sang "happiness", the last song, and i got all excited because i was actually in this number. i did fine in the beginning, but in the end, i'm singing solo and i have to hit a high note that i can't get unless i belt it out really loudly. the problem is, the song's supposed to be soft, so that sucks. i'm going to need to work on that.

the next song we worked on was "glee club rehearsal", a really fun song. it's hard to explain, but it's basically charlie brown and his friends rehearsing "home on the range", but throughout the song, linus and lucy are arguing and charlie brown and sally are trying to figure out what's going on. it's fun.

then it was nearing the end of rehearsals, so some people left and some stayed. crowell worked with me on "happiness", and said i shouldn't be so nervous and i'd do fine. you know, he isn't as mean as i thought he was going to be.

well, all in all, it was a good rehearsal. i'm still looking forward to them, despite my lack of ability to reach that high e.

now the REHEARSAL air was sweet perfume

mood: euphoric

aaahhh . . . rehearsals. i love them.

well, today was our first real rehearsal, and it was really good. we ran through about sixteen pages today; not that much, but it was cool. i still cannot believe it. still. i was reading my little lunchtime monologue, and it was so weird. like, i was all by myself. sorta scary, but i'll get over it.

hopefully.

anyways, speaking of the lunchtime monologue, leung gave me a special project. i need to work on knowing how it feels to eat lunchtime alone, so tomorrow i'm bringing a peanut butter sandwich, plopping myself down in center court (provided it doesn't rain), and eating my sandwich all by myself. let's see if it works. so if you see me all by myself tomorrow (or the rest of the week, as i may be keeping it up), don't approach me. i'll be, uhh, meditating. or something.

this oughtta be fun.

oh yeah, speaking of which, enjoy this update. what with the quickly approaching deadline, i'm probably going to be rehearsing until seven o'clock or so, and the updates will become less and less frequent. so leave me lots of comments so that on the off-chance that i do get to update, i'll see how much you all love me.

when the CHILDREN sang for the king and queen
Saturday. 02.28.04 12:15 am
mood: ex-froping-cited

y0 (yo). tonight was like fropin (fuckin) sexy (awesome). i went to go see bowditch's version of "you're a good man, charlie brown" with amanda johnson. they added hella characters, i think every single peanuts character ever created. there ended up being like fifty characters. holy dookie (shit).

it was cool, though. me and amanda saw ms. leung and mr. crowell there. ms. leung brought her mom, and mr. crowell brought his stepson. it was sexy (weird), though, because me and amanda and her dad bought tickets waay fropin before, and then leung and crowell bought tickets later, but they sat right behind us! it was a pretty good show. especially for a middle school.

except . . . they did the broadway version of the show, and we're doing the off-broadway original version. it has less songs, but i hear that it's less flashy and more simplistic, which is a good thing when you're performing a charlie brown play, i guess. so there were slight changes, but overall it was pretty sexy (good).

lucy was awesome. she had a great voice. sounded just like a the succubus (bitch) that she is. no i'm kidding. linus was good too, and so was sally. snoopy was hilarious. schroeder and charlie brown were okay, but they sang their songs an octave lower than usual so that you couldn't really hear. i feel so weird that middle school kids sang the song lower than i would. but, you know. dookie happens.

so, yeah, i got a feel for what the show would be sorta like, so overall, i give tonight a nine.

excuse the weird language. me and bianca were talking about her catchphrases, and we realized i didn't have any. so after a long conversation, we came up with these:

y0, (interjection?) = yo. kinda stole this one off of nutang. actually, i really stole this one off of nutang. but no one has to know.

frope, (noun, adjective, verb) = anything. good, bad, mediocre. it's all in the context that you use it. a dog can be a frope. i could eat a frope tuna sandwich. a person may frope another. one of the most versatile of all words.

sexy, (adjective) = same as frope, but only in adjective form. a cloud can be sexy. a pile of dirt can be sexy. pickle can be sexy. wait, no, scratch that. the only things that can't be sexy are pickle and tim whitehorn.

dookie, (noun) = this one's pretty simple. if you ever went to elementary school, you should know what this is. unless your name is bianca and you have to have someone explain to you what a dookie is.

succubus, (noun) = a derogative name for anyone. tim whitehorn is a succubus.

to give something a nine, (verb) = this one is hard to explain. if something is good, you give it a nine. if something is bad, you give it a nine. "dude, i just got my license" "no way! i give that a nine." or . . . "my grandfather died." "i'm so sorry, i give that a nine."

oh! i almost forgot some.

oh boy!, (interjection) = the equivalent of "wow!" or "groovy!" or in bianca's case, "spoot!"

turtle p0wer, (noun) = actually, i haven't really thought up a good definition for this one. but just be aware of it in the future.

excuse my lame attempt at inserting all of my new slang words into the entry above. that was so bad. i give it a nine.

in other news, don't mind me if i have a heart attack the next time you see me. this whole week my family went deep-frying crazy. it all started when my mom made lumpia and there was leftover oil. we started deep frying everything: chicken nuggets, french fries, burritos, you name it. i think all of my meals so far have been doused in oil. mm . . . i can feel my arteries clogging already.
