The Surface Tension Tango
Wednesday. 1.30.08 7:23 pm
yay@lavalamp.

I'm taking the programming class, which is just with Visual Basic 6. It's going SLOWLY. I mean, we've learned the most simple stuff in the world. I want to learn more, faster. I need to bring a book to that class.

There's a dude in there who has obviously classed me as a loser. I hate it when people do that.

There are different levels of friendship. There's a best friend, like a brother or sister. They are the coolest people.

Then there are the friends, some of which may annoy you but are still great to be around. After that, you've got the tag-along or someone who is "above you."

As a general rule, I try to maximize on "friends," so I talk to people who I might not talk to under other circumstances. But the next person who treats me like scum from a creek is going to get a large sarcastic outburst from me, and then silence.

-.-

My lava lamp is so much fun to watch.
I drove out and parked in someone's driveway so I could take a picture of the road, but it didn't even turn out that great. What a bummer.

I need to start writing down my homework assignments and test/quiz dates. I made a 67 on a quiz in Economics today. :o The questions she asked were so obscure...it was crazy. Apparently all of them are like that...and I don't remember if we have a 3 chapter test tomorrow.

No, wait, I don't. Phew. That's Spanish, and I've got it down.

I'm glad so many people liked my last post, or at least commented...(Two people, one of whom is subscribed and therefore shouldn't even count.)

OH I FORGOT MY FRIEND LET ME BORROW HER SYMPHONY X CD.

*listen*

The "God hates fags" problem.
Sunday. 1.27.08 10:09 pm
(I'm sorry for the title. But I bet that if that caught your attention, you'll not regret reading on.)

Well, I finally got around to seeing The Golden Compass today, and I have a few words.

I promise that they aren't entirely what you're expecting.

Firstly, I wish I hadn't heard all that jazz about its blatant anti-church themes. I think I would've liked the movie a lot more if I hadn't had expectations.

It was pretty good, over all. Some pretty odd plot holes, but that's kind of irrelevant.

I was watching this movie, and I was wondering. They guy, who wrote it, Phillip Pullman. The analogies that he's creating about the Church and Christians are so wrong. Some aspects just don't relate to the real world. At least, not since the Dark Ages. Ahem.

But that, also, is not the main concern. Though the face that he gives to Christianity is indeed very harsh, it isn't entirely untrue. I really hate the way pastors and such are portrayed in movies. All the hate they show? The cruelty? What the heck, you guys must have a huge chip against us.

But what really gets to me, what I hate the most, what keeps me up at night, is that there are pastors out there who will protest same sex marriages with signs reading "God hates fags." I'm sure there are. And when I see that, I sympathize with you non-Christians. (I know, I'm awful, putting you in a group like that.)

Seriously. If you're a Christian and have thrown hate around in God's name, you need to rethink your ministries. That doesn't pertain to just ministers and the like. People like me, kids, teens, people who influence their friends. Watch what you say, because people are watching you. If you say you are with Jesus, then ACT LIKE IT.

God does not hate gay people. Sure, it's wrong. But you aren't perfect. You sin all the time, too. Being gay isn't some sort of disease. It's not a mental or emotional weakness. A person can't chose to not be gay any more than you can chose to stop lusting, or being prideful, or any other vice you DO have. If God hates gay people, he hates everybody. And that's not the way it is, folks.

And if you DON'T follow Christ, well... I'm sure you've gotten some of flak from Christians who are being more of a jerk than is needed. You might be bitter about it. Heck, I would be. But at the very least, let me personally apologize for the hurt they caused you. Believe me, we're not all jerks. I go to a wonderful church with an amazing youth group. If you've ever stepped into a church and felt awkward, well, that's your fault. :P But if you feel that the people there are actively shunning you in any way, you need to find a better, friendlier church. Just make sure they actually teach the Bible. (I've heard tale of Churches who just teach general peace. That totally doesn't cut it.)

Please, give me your feedback. But remember, I come in peace? Did I walk all over your feelings? Did something really stick to you? Tell me about it. Really, I want to know what things are like outside my little city.

I need to find ways to NOT spend all my time doing nothing at all. I'm lethargic and maybe more than a bit lazy, and I need to get my butt outside or something. Get a job. Prioritize.

Sometimes I really just want to shout at people. All the people coming to mind are girls, incidentally...

STOP kicking the basket under my desk, my backpack next to my desk, and my desk. Also, you breath kind of loud and talk to yourself during class, but I don't actually hold that against you. But really, having to say, "I'm sorry." every five minutes kind of screams that you aren't.

If you're going to get me back for poking you, for CRYING OUT LOUD, try to avoid potential kill zones. And don't be a dork about it. (Hehe, just thought I'd let you know.)

Stop AVOIDING me. And if you're not avoiding me, make sure I know. Because I'm a paranoid, and it sure LOOKS like I'm being avoided. (EDIT: Remember when I said I can tell when people are blocking me on AIM and not just offline? Yeah. I guess you forgot that fun tidbit.)

Now I'm actually trying to think of people to e-shout at. Nice.

Homework is starting to pile up, and I still need to get organized. Oh, man.

BLOOD!

In case I somehow forget, the recording below is from a phone conversation I had with Boyman. No I don't ever need her to make that noise for me again!

So, a new semester in school means for me 4 new classes. Chemistry 1, Spanish 2, American Government and Economy, and Programming 1.

So far, I have no complaints, except that the new lunch setup isn't nearly as Steve-friendly as the last one. It's earlier, but it's right in the middle of one of my classes. So when the class ends, I have a whole OTHER hour and a half to go through. And all my friends from last semester are in different lunches, except for two. The awesome factor is just too crappy.

Today, on the way home from school, it was just me driving and Sydney shotgun. We noticed that my friend AJ was in his truck behind us as we were about to enter the neighborhood. I slowed down to about 10 mph on a 35 mph curve, then stopped for a solid minute in the road before turning into the entrance. Once in the neighborhood, I got right in the middle of the road with my big gold minivan, and CRAWLED. Then I suddenly gunned it to his house and parked across the entrance to his driveway. He pulled up next to me and opened his window to tell me to move, and I sprayed him with my windshield fluid.

I told him I would go. We were both facing a cul-de-sac, so he went ahead and I was to follow. Instead, I executed two points in a three point turn, so by the time he came back around I was still taking up about half the road. I stared backing up until I hit some of his bushes, then made the final turn and left.

Sydney will probably be riding with me more often. Hahahahahaha. And maybe AJ will learn to leave school before me.

Here are some interesting baby videos, for your viewing pleasure.

I'm back.

Oh, wait. Thanks, Jenni!
