Welcome to Not Getting Run Over By A Forklift 101. For our first lesson we'll... ack! No. NO! What a terrible way to start the class!

I got my schedule changed today, but my counselor wouldn't change it the way I wanted, so I got taken out of a fun physics class and put into a boring one (even though I still have the same teacher) and now I have a really boring PE class to. But, hey, at least I don't have to run all period now - a definite plus for my lard-assical laziness.

My English teacher is crazy. It's the first week of school and she's assigning us a book to read in, you didn't guess, one week. Not only do we have to read this book in one week, but she's giving us all sorts of other "creative assignments" that "aren't supposed to take very long". The problem is, since we're graded on creativity, that you can't be creative and not spend a good deal of time on it... or at least I can't. So, thanks to her, I'm going to be bogged down with horrible amounts of work for quite some time if she has any say about it.

Well, I'd better go do stuff while I remember how to do it... I never know when I'm going to forget an important detail about my homework, since I hardly ever write it down.

..:Leniency In The Confusion:..
Tuesday 8.24.04 5:59 pm

I really can't believe how quickly school seemed to come this year. It's like it somehow runs up and takes a bite out of summer's ass every year, making precious summer ever shorter (and considerably more pissed off). Unfortunately, summer is too much of a wuss to beat the crap out of school for biting her, so she sits there and, although she's full of energy, slowly loses her height. And the prestige goes with it, in a way. I used to celebrate having large quantities of time on my hands during the summer and doing absolutely nothing with it, but now it seems to take on a much more meaningful light and get that much shorter because of it. It's interesting how all of that works.

Let's see... School is certainly interesting. I've probably made some really good impressions on my teachers... and a really bad one, so it's going to be fun to see how they react as I gravitate towards being average. I have noticed, though, that I am extremely vocal in my two science classes. I don't know why I answer so many questions in science, but I've noticed that I always seem to do it. Maybe some pharmaceutical talent rubbed off on me at some point in my early life and I have a subconcious thirst to expand it.

Oh, just to say a tiny bit about English class, I did the first assignment, which was to write a letter to Mrs. Price, and I got to choose what to write about. I had topic sentences for the body of the letter and everything else she asked, but... I ended up writing the most off-topic, supposed-to-be-structured letter I have ever written. I appologized profusely in my conclusion-type-thing, but I don't think she'll enjoy reading it. At least she's going to think I can't say on topic when I write so I'll get some leniency on my first few essays.

Ah, my French teacher, Mrs. Kawecki, also declared herself a nazi today. I was laughing until she started talking about German grammar and accent marks. At that point, I was rather afraid that, being a Jew, I was screwed. Of course, she was just saying she was strict when she called herself a nazi... but I still plan to be wary of her.

Well, I popped my brain a while ago while I was trying to get my journals done. It took about two and a half hours per journal even though I had already done them for some reason... I even got bored enough to reorganize my desktop and make an entirely new theme for it in the middle of my third journal.

I've been planning on wearing the worst outfit that I could possibly wear for the first day of school since Emerald had me buy an... interesting striped, green shirt. Making a lasting first impression is always nice. I wonder how well I'll stand out in the courtyard in a hot-green top. It's a wonderfully annoying thing to think about.

Oh, I went bowling yesterday with my brother and some of his friends and it makes me sad to say that I'm better than all of them. The only reason it makes me sad is that I bowled an 86. So, yeah, I really don't know anyone that's good at bowling. At least it's fun to suck at something for once.

..:A Plethora of Nothingness:..
Thursday 8.19.04 12:28 pm

Yesterday was a very happy day, not because of registration for school and not because of the cold that I had (and still have), and I'm not going to say why. I just felt like saying it was a happy day... mostly because it was. Apparently the idea of school is bringing back my ability to rant in a more confusing manner than normal.

Beyond that, I have done a remarkable amount of nothing for the past few days. I did write a submission to the NuTang Folklore Contest at about one yesterday morning. And, when I say wrote, I mean wrote out by hand. It was interesting since I'll have to get back into the habit of that again. But, yeah, I went for random with a tiny bit of plot that ended in complete insanity. That in mind, I think I wrote a rather good story, besides my slaughtering the introduction (I was originally planning to write a brief summary and then go on to write the entire thing later).

As sad as that sounds, that's about it. I really haven't done anything of much interest to anyone.

..:Making Sense of Life:..
Monday 8.16.04 8:36 pm

Besides being utterly confused by last night, which I won't say anything about, I'm very happy at the moment.

To get to the point (read the subtext for the details), I had to reinstall Windows after a bit and I lost my journals. That's what I get for printing stuff with a cheap printer in draft mode. I definitely have to get one that actually dries the ink. So, back to the book. It's called The Crystal Cave and Mary Stewart wrote it. I ended up venting my rage by reading it and I spent about four hours reading 225 pages. I've decided that this book would be infinitely more fun to write an essay about because, as much as I hate to admit it (well, I don't really care but this makes it sound more dramatic), I thought The Mists of Avalon sucked. And when I say a book sucks, I mean I had to force myself to read it... very hard in this case.

What else can I say? Mixed signals are evil. And confusing. Mostly confusing, since it's kind of fun trying to make sense of them, but still evil. I'd rather not have to do any of this "piecing together" bussiness... but, hey, it's not like I'd be doing anything terribly interesting otherwise so it gives me something pleasurable to think about. (Did that even make sense?)

Subtext:
As I was wandering aimlessly through Borders today (don't ask) I came across the part of the fantasy section that holds all of the over-sized books and I don't mean hard-covered by over-sized: they just look funny. Anyway, I found a particularly oddly-shaped series, so I picked the first book out of it. Lo and behold, it ended up being arthurian legend. This, normally, wouldn't have meant anything to me, but I read The Mists of Avalon for my summer reading and I was incredibly pissed at how much smaller the book was. So, out of spite, I got it.

Here comes the fun part. After purchasing the book, I started home... and it took me awhile to walk. Anyway, as I came in the door, my grandmother came down to tell me she was "looking for the cat" (i.e. snooping) in my room and she had spilled her coffee on some of my papers when my mom came in and asked what she was doing. I didn't really care, but I walked into my room to find one of my drawers, the one with most of the papers that I keep, ajar. Sure enough, the stack of papers had coffee all over it. Ironically, the papers on top were my summer reading journals. I went off to find my labtop (if you don't get that underlining, you've obviously never had that discussion with me) to go print them again.

Of course, as soon as I booted up "my" labtop, it froze. I proceeded to smack the thing until it stayed on and I started printing the first journal again when, all of a sudden, it crashed. I rebooted only to find out that one of the system files was corrupted. Being rather distressed, I popped in the setup disk and tried to "repair the operating system", but it didn't work. I called the customer service number and they said they no longer offer support for the model and that I was "basically screwed by the sound of it". Tech support sucks these days.

..:Heavenly:..
Friday 8.13.04 6:08 pm

How do I come across all of these random bands based in other countries that I can instantly fall in love with? I'd really like to know. I mean, first it's the Germans and now it's the French. One of these days I swear I'm going to find myself listening to a band based out of Djibouti or Swaziland or something... Of course, it's not that I hate bands from other countries, I just hate to pay the prices for import CDs. They're killer. But I think Heavenly's new CD is worth the cost... though I'm sure my twenty won't think so. (God, I've got myself personifying my money...) Not to ay this is true for all American bands, but most of the singers, these days, can't sing. -Insert next obvious flaw about American bands- Oh dear, where did that come from?

Also, I've decided to restrain myself from getting a camera because they're too damn expensive. I was looking at the Canon PowerShot A80, but, yeah, $300 is just a tad too expensive for my tastes. I'll probably get it when it drops to $200 and, although that might be a while, it's a worthy buy. The thing got insanely good reviews.

So, that said, many of you have probably (and by that, I mean I) realized that that would mean I'm not going to update my website for a long time. But have no fear, I have decided to push ahead the deadline due to these unforseen circumstances. It shall be moved from "Quite a long time away thanks to the camera incident" to "Some time relatively soon". Of course, I don't think anyone really looks at my site anyway, since I actually read my visitor reports. It's nice to think that someone does, though, so I announce things like this.

God, I have a horrible tenancy to verbosify anything I try to say, don't I? I mean, I just turned three to five sentences (depending on how you look at it) into three paragraphs. Yay for ranting.
