We did it! Breeding tigers for trade soundly rejected
In a major victory for conservation, raising captive tigers for trade in their parts was rejected by members of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES) meeting in The Hague this week.
Parties to the international wildlife convention also urged China to phase out its large-scale commercial tiger farms.
Prior to the decision WWF and other conservation organizations unveiled the massive two-storey-high tiger mosaic, made up of more than 26,000 photos, outside the conference centre urging world leaders to end all trade in tigers. Delegates had to walk past the mosaic on their way to the tiger debate.
4 countries with wild tigers - India, Nepal, Russia and Bhutan - were joined by the United States in advocating for a strong decision for tigers. India called on China to phase out the country’s privately run “tiger farms,” which house nearly 5,000 big cats and are pushing the Chinese government to allow legal trade in tiger parts. With leadership from these countries, the 171 member countries of the CITES convention adopted a strong tiger trade decision by consensus.
China has said that it will not lift its ban without listening to scientific opinion from around the world. The world spoke and urged China not to reopen any trade in tiger parts and to increase protection for tigers in the wild.
This is great news!

I had my bday dinner w Renaye on 27 Aug at Chillies... cause we can get free brownies without having them to sing bday song like what happen at TGIF... :P and later I had my very 1st orchestra experience at MPO...
Indeed a MPO... cause when it goes silent, a drop of needle can be heard :P

On 30th Aug, i had my day out to one utama to shopping... too bad get nothing during that day cause i am stingy :P a blouse cost rm89.90? woot... i rather spend on books then... .
anyway, my SIL mum treat me bday lunch ~ Unaga Kabayaki at a japanese restaurant - forgotten the name
and at night, my SIL younger brother treat all of us to dine in at San Fransisco Steakhouse :D ~ free food all day long... haha
And later at night, of course like every year tradition, ill stay up late to do the Merdeka countdown infront of the tv and shout out loud 10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1 Merdeka hhhhh... and my phone will start vibrating, receiving text from friends n parents...
31 Aug morning, woke up at 10am (cause too tired) and watch tv, every year, no matter what happen, ill watch part of the Merdeka Parade :D
Lunch at Sushi Zanmai ~ love the food so much...
and check in to Hotel Imperial Kuala Lumpur at Jalan Sultan Ismail.... suppose to be Hotel Sheraton Imperial.. but they changed the name to Hotel Imperial...
The parking was EXPENSIVE 1 day RM8 @@'' takai ne...
Is a complimentary stay by Starwood, since me and my brother joined the membership ~ i got an executive room for the stay... nice bday exp :D

seriously, Hotel imperial buffet is so much better than Le Meridien, cause most tasty... i mean tasty as in u can taste the food... the smell the scent...
try out the chocolate ice cream at Hotel Imperial... no regret :D
i want the tv :P, the tv was super cool, they have the welcome note to me on the screen... goodness

Merdeka is around the corner... Malaysia gonna be 51 years old... from independent...
since the month of patriotic started on aug 16 (if not mistaken) so conjunction with it, i make this theme, sort of modified version of last year Merdeka theme....

Today is the 15th of 7th month lunar calendar, we Hokkien ethnic consider it as the biggest day to celebrate the Chinese Ghost Festival day.
In the morning or afternoon, praying will be done outside the shop or at the house, fruits, vege, and a must of [chicken, duck, pork] to be serve during the prayer.
Of course, my parents are busy preparing now :P since I have to sit at the shop, so I dont take part at the praying.
During this day itself, mostly all Chinese at Penang, like hawker stall or food stall, do not do their business, is consider a very big event that needed a day off.
Erm many believe that unexplained things will happen during this day. Ya know super natural cause @@
Talking about praying, Hokkien ethnic will pray on the 15th and as what renaye said seeing ppl praying around yesterday were mostly Cantonese which pray on 14th.
Tonight, ill help my mum do the praying on the road side, the purpose is to pray for those lost soul .
Too bad I dare not take any picture during this month and during the praying, because I dont have the guts to look at the picture. Who knows what you might see
During the whole 7th month of lunar calendar, all Chinese temple (mostly what I see is at Penang) they will set up a stage that have different program in it.
In the old days, they often have this Chinese opera, [those with thick makeup and costume] I used to watch it FOR FREE near the temple at my old house. :D. Today, the kind of forgo the Chinese opera, instead now they hired infamous singers to sing on the stage. haha
But the purpose of all this stage is for the dead as well as the God. Erm, someone once told me the chair set up near the stage are not allow to sit, because it was mean for the
Well how true is my story, I would not said 100% is, because it was pass down from my grandma to my mother, and to me n I believe it been circulated for many many many many many many years b4. :P
Oh before I end it, tomorrow is my Lunar calendar bday, my grandma once told my mum not the deliver me on the 15th, lol so luckily I was out at 16th :p hence im so lucky enough to have my bday fall on 31 August which is Malaysias national day.. yay
