"New" take on Christmas
Sunday. 11.21.10 4:12 pm

(What's with the blank gap at the end?)

Obviously this is coming from a religious background, but it's a message I think most people agree with.

I'm glad that this idea is actually getting some work done.

that is well-done. Well, off to the mall!

I agree that more money needs to go to those in need...
But telling us to spend less with an economy like this takes away more and more jobs. More jobs lost, more people in need.

It's an ugly cycle, but it would take a major, MAJOR overhaul to change it.

I like the message, just...it shouldn't be a guilt thing about how much we spend or how little we spend time with others. What about giving a donation as a gift? What about doing good *just because it's good?*

Now that would be a video I could fully stand behind.

re: My comments still stand, bub! If every person bought one less present, think of how many presents that comes out to be, total! That idea is like the iceburg...it looks like a tiny amount that you can just shift around except it seriously isn't.

I mean, of course not everyone is doing this, nor will they ever (in some cases). But there is a better way to go about this that won't sink us.

People can usually afford to donate AND buy, especially when a lot of donations are tax-deductible. :]

Of course no one's going to go out of business, but you're saying that one present per person won't screw things up knowing how many people live in the U.S. and the average price of a Christmas present?

I beg to differ.

Not everyone DOES it, though. I'm saying that if what they propose becomes reality for every person in America, we're gonna have problems for a while.

Recycling is relatively harmless, actually.

I paused Pandora for this
that NEVER happens. It was pretty well done...not such a big deal to me though because that's already how I live Christmas DUHHHH. Haha j/k...well, not really, but it IS good that the word is getting put out there in a medium that's more effective than infomercial-style television programs.

re: Whoa, how does that work? I mean, who makes the layout if they don't?!
I can't imagine a life without layout and design! D:
