I mentioned gay once. I have to say, ever since I'm always sure to be READY for an attack when I mention controversial material...especially if it's religiously based. Though I think randomjunk was nicer to me than to you, haha.

I apologize for forgetting Paul's letters to the Corinthians and the Romans. Touche. I've been trying to learn more about this apparent contradiction and get down to the bottom of the matter and it has been a long time since I have read these books in the Bible. Perhaps I should have said "the Gospels" which is the only place where we actually get to hear what Jesus has to say. If you recall, Paul also said to the Romans that those who are married should remain married, and those who are not married should stay unmarried. He believed not only that the world as we know it will pass away someday, but that it will pass away very soon- that is, he speaks of a crisis, but encourages us to just hold steady because the end of the world is near. Paul also says that if a woman's head is uncovered when she prays that it should be shaved. Christ is God, but Paul is just a man, like anyone, who tries to interpret God's law, sometimes beyond what God has said or what anyone can truly know. At the time he was being persecuted, starved, and argued with. He was unhappy with all of the arguments between believers. Unlike God, Paul is not immune to the frustrations and judgments inherent in being human- even he says this. His letters have some good and relevant advice, just as Leviticus does. But some parts of his letters belie his frustrations with the believers and the Gentiles and refer to issues that were going on at that very time, and specific questions that Romans and Corinthians had asked him. The translations of the phrases are also different depending on the version. Perhaps we should both be chided for not having real the entire Bible in Greek.

I think it would be fair to say, "it is better to marry than to burn with passion". But as per your wishes, I will talk about it no more.
