Britney got me thinking...

Yes, it is important to get somewhat decent grades.
Yes, it is important to get into college.
Yes, a bunch of other things are important.

But, honestly, where is our motivation for doing well in school? These past two weeks I have done NO homework (which is very bad) and I am very conscious about my slipping grades. I'm trying hard to fix them now, but I feel as though my efforts will never be up to par again.

I mean, seriously, what if you don't get into a good college? What if the course you major in isn't what you want to be, and all that time and money is wasted? What if you never find a job? What if?

Spanish used to be my thing, but once I got a bad grade and my pride was hurt, I pretty much stopped trying. Where has that gotten me? I went from a 99 average on my report card to a 78. BAD.

I am determined to find my motivation, again.

Y'know, I ask myself about the same questions all the time. When I try and talk to my friends about it though, they can't understand. Basically what everyone around me thinks is "you don't get into a good college/make >$100k a year, you have wasted your life."

I've got no motivation, personally. I figure that the prospect of being rich and supposedly free of worries is what drives a lot of people...

I didn't do as well as I should have in high school and was so unmotivated I didn't even bother applying to the schools I should have.


MISTAKE! I promise, you do not want to have to go to community college before getting into the university of your choice.

Oh, and don't worry about the courses you take in high school affecting what you do in college. You have SO MANY class choices at university... it's mind boggling. You can take anything you want, even if it doesn't pertain to your major. I did PR and took Beginning Acting just to see if I was any good.

I was only okay, but at least I tried it out. When you start signing up for classes make sure you take yoga and creative writing and German and photojournalism and everything else you can!

I think that sometimes our own thinking defeats us more than bad grades.

I probably shouldn't tell you this now but.. there comes a time when it isn't about the grade. And that time has come for me but it's about understanding and an imprint that should be left on your brain after learning more than just a 2 digit or 3 digit number. But for you, right now, yeah Junior year is when a considerable bulk of the work is done.

By the way if you need help with Spanish, ask eh?

i'm sure u'll find that motivation again n be back on ur feet. wht you're goin through now i would say its jst a phase n sometimes when things dont go so well , our very own drivin force n motivation will tend to suffer as well but once u set ur focus on it , nothin can stop you from achievin wht you want n i dont believe that your effort cannot be up to par. remember , u've done it once n its not unlikely u'll not be able to do it for the second time.

i can totally understand the worries you're experiencin right now. i grew up in a rather typical chinese family n to my family, grades are all that matters. they will drill n pressure till they get the results they want outta u.. well wht i can say is that dont worry n when u're in uni, jst do wht you do best n things will be alright
