Don't apologize for slavery.

I don't care how many crazy, disillusioned people whine and gripe and do whatever to make you think that you SHOULD apologize, you shouldn't.

Why?

Slavery happens.

Wars happen.

History happens.

No one alive today is directly affected by slavery. If they are, they're probably in a nursing home. No one alive today that had relatives during slavery times, has owned slaves. If they did... they're dead.

I refuse to accept any apology, because the thought is ridiculous.

I'm going to write the governor a letter, as well as my local congresspeople, and any one else that was involved in voting for this damn apology.

I'm going to tell them that they're ridiculous.

A formal apology isn't going to change anything, it's going to make the black people think, "oh crap! We got an apology, reparations can't be far behind!"

it's going to make the white people think "Hrm... stupid whiny black people..."

Grr.

*frees his slaves* I guess it really is about time to let go hehe In the beginning of the month I asked when White History Month was. No one answered me. So I said that I guess every month is White History Month. I guess I will be able to understand Latino/Mexican History Month. Perhaps Native American History Month. But I do believe that there are less months than the number of nationalities with more than 100,000 representatives in the population of our country. I guess some nationalities will have to atleast double up on some months. Anyway. It's bed time. I hope you enjoyed this immensely! hahah

We have been fighting eachother for decades over so many things. I mean we even have games where we fight eachother, like boxing, wrestling and ultimate fighting. I think it is just an innate human thing. So stupid isn't it?

On a more serious note, yes, it is stupid. I don't see Zulu descendants apologizing for kicking ass and taking slaves. It's just the way of things. I think a lot of black people just like to cry and feel like they're part of the civil rights movement even though they were born like 40 years too late.

I'd say we should kill them, but people would start labeling us mean things like murderers and stuff. I prefer the term Gene-Pool Cleanser.

We shouldn't feel guilty for something that our ancestors did. We're not them .Yeah, it's sad that it happened, but the fact is that it did happen and we can't change the past. And wow that formal apology thing sounds way out there. I can't believe that they're doing it.

I do not believe they are apologizing for only Slavery, but also for the period of time that black people were oppressed to the degree where we are still disenfranchised in southern states. The only problem I have with the apology is that its almost 200 years too late.

i have never quite understood why people must try and apologize for our history, or forget all together. Yes slavery was a part of our history...but so was civil war. We also continually apologize for taking the "Natives" land. Not to mention the nazi's were a part of history too that effected a lot of people. Does Germany apologize for that?
